Do you guys think our overseas based azkals will have physical advantage over the Turk's? They(Turkmenistan Players) look big. Although Physique can be an advantage, there are also other attributes that make a team better than the other. There's tactical skill, technical skill, and mental toughness. Very often, people would think if a team is big, they must be good, but for me, the real advantage is in the mental toughness. 99% of soccer depends on mental toughness.

Azkals win!! Too bad I didn't wake up early enough for live streaming. It's been hard to wake up early these days in San Diego; weather is superb here.

Tough but exciting game, very fast (sometimes *too fast* ) buildup, even faster counters from both sides, somewhat helter-skelter formation and ad hoc defending from our side (as usual ), Schrockie was well-marked as expected after showing off how good he is last Sunday. TKM rightly considered Patino as the more dangerous striker, so more of the chances went to Phil, who wasted several very clear-cut shots on goal. Our playing style is still amorphous, I can't even figure out what our formation was supposed to be, if it was 4-4-2 it sure didn't look like it for majority of the match. I'd be the first to say it, but I think Muller has better positioning and judgement than Etheridge. He knows where to wait for the ball to come in most of the time, so there were very few occasions to see those wild, panicky flailing about from a GK caught out of position. He also seems to have a more mature and stable character, he doesn't get too bothered or rattled when under pressure. Neil sometimes gets too excited and emotional when too many attacks come his way. Maybe it's just a difference in personality, with Roland having the "cooler" head.

Though Neil had matches with Bristol Rovers, he has not played since his recall in November. If Neil is smart, he would try to find a lower division club in England, or try his luck in a second or third tier nation'a top flight somewhere in Europe.

Great job by Roland Muller. If I may nitpick about his performance, the only criticism I have is that he kicks the ball too hard. Anghel is the next Boy Dapa. Either he is flopping too much or he's just easy to take down inspite of his burly physique. Neither is good. Credit Weiss for subbing him out. In hindsight I would even dare to say that he shouldn't have even started and would've been better off as a sub. Would have been great to see what Reichelt would do at right wing. Dennis Cagara is really solid at LB while Carli is also starting to really own that RB position. I saw the game live and would like to see the replay first before making other observations. It was just a shame that RMS was not packed.

yes i am also disappointed that the RMS was not packed. but we have things to consider, holiday is coming and most of the people had gone home back to their provinces. but still the crowd last night remain lively all throughout the match unlike before when we face Singapore in the leg 1 of the Suzuki cup.

I think the team was a bit tired. We had only one full day rest compared to Turkmenistan.
That's why Schrocky was missing some passes and losing some touches.
Coach MW really chose a conservative approach, that's why no major substitutions or adjustments.

Good job on the win Azkals! It was a great end to a somewhat bizarre/full-of-surprises tourney (ie. Brunei withdrawing, technical problems in Cambodia game).
Towards the half of the game, it looked like the boys were tired already. It was a good idea to sub Angel out and JYH to come in - wished the substitution was done earlier. Even with Phil, after he scored, sana he was substituted. He really seemed all worn out after the goal (hence, the result of the yellow card out of frustration). It could have prevented him from getting a red card. Good job to GK Muller and the rest of the guys! Speaking of GK, I hope Neil gets a chance to start on the Azkals' next matche/s. He still deserves it (ie. based on his record with the PH team).
The players will be going home soon to their respective countries/clubs but hope to see them all - if not most- playing next year in Maldives!

Congratulations with the win but I agree with strikerborn, the guys could have done better. Individually they are great despite some minor lapses but its really the system that's missing. Its a pity that we cant even maximize Patino. I still believe that with a better coach the guys can do better.

yesterday at 6:54amstrikerbon said: with this current lineup that we have right now, each players are irreplaceable except for Angel. majority of them can play full 90 minutes. our right wing is the only position in which a substitution can be made. OJ,James and Reichelt is our best option. i don't see Caligdong coming in, sorry but he deserves to be at the bench after making some unnecessary comments few days back
I agree, i watched the game last sunday and the fans in white bleachers cheering and calling chieffy while practicing. And he didn't even acknowledge it,compared to the other players who waves at the crowd everytime they called their name, even schrock who is playing at the actual game acknowledged the fans everytime he hears his name
I do agree also,he's(chieffy) not good example anymore to younger players. He doesnt even want to fully recognise his euro based players(teammates).Congrats team azkals!!!!another record set in our own soil.

What time is the replay on Balls?
Agree with the sfarsky that Phil should have been substituted with OJ then maybe move Patino as the main target man.
