Hong Kong accepts the invitation of Philippines, they will play on Hong Kong in June 4, 2013. - This is our next friendly game and first for June friendlies. June 4 is a FIFA match date so expect the influx of Euro-based Filipino players. HK is also home to many OFW so I think many Filipinos will watch the game there

Philippines to Play Hong Kong MANILA (13 April 2013) – The Philippines national team has confirmed a friendly against Hong Kong on 4 June 2013 and is on the lookout for another test match in Manila as their run-up to the AFC Challenge Cup next year. Team manager Dan Palami said that while the game against Hong Kong is much anticipated considering the latter’s latest run in the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers, they are still looking for another game after the chase to play Vietnam fell through. “It will be some other team and the PFF is looking at that already,” said Palami.

since Gier suffered an injury and is possibly out for this friendly, why not try Chad Gould? he is better than De Jong at CB. he is tall and very good in aerial battle. all we need is to maximize his skills.

It's a friendly. I'd rather invest on the younger ones like De Jong, in preparation for the SEA Games at the end of the year, rather than incorporate other veterans into the mix.

It seems at first glance to astounding that the national team of the Philippines has quite a lot to do with the German football. But it is exactly this: The coach Michael Weiss, who successfully competed in the online Philippine Football Federation two years ago, comes from the Palatinate. The German chef Alfons Schunk Scout comes from Upper Franconia, and because of that, playing in the national team now quite a lot of German descent players, most of whom have also maternal Filipino roots. For White and Schunk have perfected the scouting. "When players realize they have no chance of another country, then they like to play for the Philippines," says White, pointing out: "After China, the Philippines are the world's second-largest community abroad. We benefit from this. " Just tired of living with his Japanese wife and their two children in Manila soccer coach for two weeks in Germany, to hold personal discussions with its local candidates. For example, the 18-year-old Mike Ott of 1860, on 4 June in Hong Kong to celebrate its debut. "Mike is the rising star with us, if he goes on like this," exults white. A star in the Philippines is Stephan Schrock long ago. The defender did not experience the Bundesliga TSG Hoffenheim currently although his best stage for his country eight times the national team but has become indispensable. "Schröcki is our king," says White, "if he is on the ball, a murmur goes through the crowd." Place 143 in the world rankings In the ranking of the FIFA World Association Philippines Cambodia (8:0) and Turkmenistan (1-0) are ranked 143 behind Kyrgyzstan, and before the last opponent of the German team, Kazakhstan, climbed to Siegen. After the Games in Manila Coach White was indeed happy with his team, which included three U.S. and three soccer players from the Spanish second division include, but not with the space. "The players from overseas do not settle for 24 hours in the plane, then on such a playing field," complained the 48-year-old. He can afford such criticism of the association now, finally, he qualified his team for the Challenge Cup in 2014 in the Maldives. Critical to the recovery was given the weakness of its own league, the United Football League with only ten teams from the Greater Manila, the reorientation of the international player market. Here, the 63-year-old Alfons Schunk makes the Kulmbach deserves. The busy Schunk is married to a Filipina and has built an extensive network in Europe. "I get such information from Stephan Schrock, who in turn learned from his buddy Kevin-Prince Boateng of AC Milan, that some Philippine-born youth players play," says Schunk. As a former salesman of football sponsors Mars and Snickers Schrock has the Asian region 25 years ago closer to know (and soon after his wife). David Alaba decided otherwise Currently, Schunk has been targeted the 20-year-old Kevin Ingreso Hamburger SV, also the 18-year-old Kevin Guerra of the match Greuther Fürth. The squad of the Philippine National include a considerable time Roland Müller (25), second goalkeeper for MSV Duisburg, defender Dennis Cagara (28, Karlsruher SC, before FSV Frankfurt), the former Magdeburg striker Denis Wolf (30) and once at Energie Cottbus Active Patrick Reichelt (24), both kick now in the Philippines. Only too happy to have White and David Alaba of Bayern Munich in the squad. The Vienna-born son of a Nigerian father and a Filipina is "the greatest grenade that has gone before us through our fingers," said White annoyed. Scout Schunk regrets the decision of the TopTalents as well, but they can understand: "Better than against Mongolia, Cambodia and Pakistan, of course, he plays for Austria against Germany." Coach Michael Weiss, who also has charge of the national team of Rwanda, not the way it pulls back to the home: The Globe Trotting has "learned to appreciate" the qualified sports scientists. He's also not going to come without a large lobby as head coach in the German top football, where a "mega-pressure" rule. One can understand: Challenge Cup in the Maldives does sound tempting than second division stress in Sandhausen or eels.

I got this feeling Coach Weiss is really favoring our half-breeds from Germany over the one's from England... new kids on the block being planned for call ups are German breed pinoys... while guys like the Hartmanns, Reed and other English-pinoys stays in the backseat... But i got no problem with that coz both nations really play different type of system and Germany is a lot better than England this days...

In the Hong Kong football website www.goalgoalgoal.com.hk, the fans are still particularly silent in discussing this friendly. Maybe because they still have this perception of the Filipinos after the hostage crisis in 2010. Let's see how it goes in the next few days.

UFL might move the game earlier or after the friendly. but it all depends to the club and the league, last year during the UFL cup Quarter-Finals, our NT had a friendly against Singapore in Cebu, the QF game between Global and Loyola still managed to push through and they played each other minus their NT players

The reactions from the people at the HK football forum and comments from Chinese language media are quite mixed. They are quite happy about the initial squad especially at the midfield, but are quite cold about the fact that the Azkals will be playing their team at home. As expected, a few made some offensive comments relating to the Filipinos being hostagers and domestic helpers. You should know the diplomatic relations between the two nations are still in dire straits because of the Spratlys issue (HK is part of China), the 2010 hostage taking and reports of maltreatment towards Pinay DHs. I hope and pray that the match would ease the tensions somewhat.

I hope and pray that the match would ease the tensions somewhat. Barring any drastic lineup or tactical change for the Azkals, I forsee a win for the boys in this match up. The Hong Kong folks will not like the final results heck, they were lucky they didn't join last years Peace Cup. On a serious note HK has been a very unpredictable team in the last year and a half. They can put up a good fight and barely lose against Australia & Uzbekistan but struggle to beat Taiwan and Guam(we won against Guam by a score of 1-0 too). Either way I hope our Filipino diaspora in HK would come and support our team like in the middle east.

Naturalised Agbo ready to make Hong Kong proudChan Kin-wa Veteran Wisdom Agbo insists he has plenty to offer Hong Kong after being selected for the international squad at the age of 33. The Southern captain had his first practice with the 29-member training squad at Po Kwong Chuen Park yesterday as Hong Kong prepare for a friendly against the Philippines on June 4. "It's a good team and I am very happy to be part of it," said the centre-half, who will obtain his Hong Kong passport next week after arriving from Ghana 10 years ago. "I have great expectations for the team, hoping to win every match I play and make Hong Kong people happy." Southern surprised many by finishing a remarkable fourth in their first-ever season in the top flight, and Agbo's consistency at the back was a key factor. Coach Kim Pan-gon said Agbo would be good cover for his two regular choices in central defence - Lee Chi-ho and Chan Wai-ho, both of champions South China. "We never know what will happen in soccer," said Kim. "Lee and Chan are two reliable players in the heart of defence but if one of them gets injured or cannot play for some other reason, I need a quality player to come in and do the job properly. And Agbo will be one of my first choices." The coach is also confident his two "exiles" - striker Chan Siu-ki and midfielder Leung Chun-pong, who both play for Guangdong-based China First Division side Sunray Cave - will be available for the game. "They finish their last match on June 2 before the China mid-season break and should be able to come back after that," said Kim. "I am not sure how many minutes they can play against the Philippines but it's important we can get together." Hong Kong drew 3-3 against the Philippines in the Long Teng Cup in Taiwan two years ago, but Kim said the Filipinos had made great progress recently.
"I watched their match against Vietnam in the Suzuki Cup in December and was surprised by their performance," said Kim.
"Most of their players are from Western countries - big and with strong physique.
"Although Vietnam controlled most of the possession, they lacked the knowhow to beat a stubborn Philippines defence who in the end won the match with a fast break."We need a team like this to practise against as we prepare for the all-important Asian Cup qualifiers against the United Arab Emirates in October." www.scmp.com/sport/hong-kong/article/1232526/naturalised-wisdom-agbo-has-high-hopes-new-team-hong-kong

I wish we could win this game by the same margin as our loss in the A5N... or the difference in tries at least:) oh well.. I'm foreseeing a win though nonetheless.
I'm a bit excited about the prospect of capping Mike Ott and our other youngsters, hopefully, management would see this as a possible preparation for the SEA Games and compose the squad out of our U-23 eligible players.
Also, I'd like to see someone else between the posts! Neil or Muller would probably not be called up but I presume EdSa would be there. Would like to see Deyto or O'Donell... BTW, is Munoz eligible/Filipino or is he purely Peruvian?
