Azkals to battle tough UAE in Abu Dhabi friendly in NovemberKarl Decena, InterAKTV · Thursday, June 20, 2013 · 11:05 pmAfter the cancellation of its friendly match against India, the Philippine national men’s football team has found a more formidable opponent to face this year. The Azkals will battle United Arab Emirates in its capital Abu Dhabi on November 9, according to the latest fixtures released by world governing football body FIFA. The match could be part of a possible training tour of the squad in the Middle East. UAE, ranked 87th in the world and seventh in Asia, has been a force in Middle East football. It won this year’s edition of the Gulf Cup of Nations, the premier football tournament of the national teams in the region. The Azkals’ supposed match against India in September has been cancelled following the conflict schedule the match brought to the South Asian nation. With no major tournament lined up this year, the Azkals are using the matches to prepare for the Asian Football Confederation Challenge Cup next year in Maldives, where they aim to surpass their third-place finish in the same tournament last year. www.interaksyon.com/interaktv/azkals-to-battle-tough-uae-in-abu-dhabi-friendly-in-november?utm_source=phlazkals.com&utm_medium=twitter

This is great news but I hope they haven't given up on the September FIFA dates yet! Heck, I'm sure there's a couple of nearby teams who'd love to try to cut the Philippines back down to size. Hong Kong again perhaps, or a very good team, Afghanistan?

I believed both Patino and Steuble will be available in this friendly. By that time Patino's injury heals besides Thai Premier League will finishes by October so he will be free. And Steuble hopefully will secure his Philippine passport by then.

^looking forward to this friendly. i really miss Patino's headers. haven't seen Steuble playing but i hope he is a CAM player because we already have plenty of options in the CM, Mulders' age is slowly coming out and we need a ball winner and a player who controls the the ball in the midfield. Hartmann is a good player but he's not getting enough playing time so i cannot comment if he's ready for the big games

UAE Friendly is not on FIFA friendly match day so I think it will be mainly local based players .
Thai League is finished so Reichelt and Patino should be available , I think Gier and Juani Guirado will also play.

This is the status of players' availability with November friendly matches. That is based on the players' teams scheduled fixturex and barring any injuries. Schrocky, Lucena and Etheridge may not be available in the UAE friendly as their respective teams have match on the 10th but will be free for the two succeding friendlies on the 15th and 19th. . . Muller might tend the post as his Swiss Challenge League team will have no matches from the 3rd until 22nd. Steuble's team have similar schedule with Muller so he will be available for the three friendly matches, a good opportunity for him to show how capable he is. Thailand-based Azkals Patino and Reichelt are believed to be available as well for the whole campaign as Thai Premier League closes their season on the first week on November. While Gier and the Guirado brothers will be available as usual as their teams have no problems in letting them play. Icelandic league season also finished so Jonsson is free. Mulders is still clubless there's a big chance that he will also be the one to be called up. Those who are not available at all are Cagara and Manny Ott as their respective team have matches the will conflict the dates of all three friendlies.

how about utilizing mike ott this time. we are short in forward position and let us test this youngster if he truly worth the hype or before the hype wane down.

not a full-strength squad for us but i think we're still very competitive with Reichelt,Patino and Mulders plus our local-based players. i hope Muller will play for us, UAE is just too strong for Sacapano

Nov 9 is not a FIFA match day , will all UFL Clubs release players for that friendly when UFL Cup is ongoing ?

I really doubt about Patino's availability for this game. Yes, the Thai Premier League will end on Nov 3 but look at the date of the Thai FA Cup Finals Match between Bangkok Glass and Buriram United, it's November 10. For sure, Buriram will use Patino for this match
