Perhaps with the first two games of the qualifiers we were being too defensive minded, knowing we're good at that. But whenever the time came to go for broke, our Azkals would shine! (2nd half Myanmar, 2nd half Palestine, ALL of Bangladesh). And yeah, he definitely knows how to adjust to a situation. Really really good quality in Weiss. Thumbs up!

More than just counting his W's, L's, and D's, I'd like to look at the bigger picture...he had two missions to accomplish 1.) to qualify to group stage and 2.) to advance to the elite eight. Both he did! So in my books that's 2-W's out of two! Perfect record so far... I'm a fan!

sheajane .... fan ka siguro ng barca ano? sa tingin ko matatagalan pa tayo magkaroon ng crisp passing dahil yung hindi naka base sa pinas first 11 natin. yung sa defender side ok lng yun nag pagbalik balik lang sila sa palagay ko. pero in fairness kay coach wise, unti unti na natin nadedevelop yung mga locals at kita mo naman nagpapalit siya ng tao depending sa game situation which is a good indication of him a good coach. Dati kasi kay caslib at simon paminsan minsan lang tayo makakita ng subs eh .... parang walang tiwala sa ibang players. nope po. just fell in love recently sa game po. you long time loyals all have to thank the blessing in disguise and that is the coach of vietnam for adding my kind to your fold. kasi kahit sinong pinoy ayaw na ina-underestimate pero mas lalong ayaw natin na ini-insulto tayo. if only the azkal's PR knew na the formula for their team to be popular is not only to win but apply the TELENOVELA Formula of Drama, underdog status for us guys and gwapo bidas for the girls eh dapat pala matagal na nilang ginawa yan hehe. i think what you mean about that barca thing are those beautiful, short swabe passess ng mga maling na teams right? what i mean with mine is wag masyado laging long passes kasi sayang ang possession. kahit simple short passes lang para sure di maagawan at dahan2x makalapit sa side ng kalaban.

blessing in disguise si calisto for that obvious disrespect for mcmenemy and our team. dahil sa insultong yun, maraming pinoy ang nakuha ang atensyon nila. many might have already seen that picture of calisto snubbing mcmenemy and refusing to shake hands with him. and that vid of him shaking his hands kinda like saying nah, you didn't play fair. but i'm sure many of you might not have noticed this, go to 6:04 part and ignore the center of the vid where the players are lining up. look at the lowest part on the right and you will see 2 ants. ;D one approaching the other to shake hands and the other one ignoring him.

Yeah I remember seeing that too. What a pompous snob. But I've said enough about him last December. Welcome to the beautiful game, sheajane80! I should thank Callisto for bringing you here.

... yup i agree. napansin ko rin yan dati pa. pag may lalapit nang kalaban matataranta na yung nagdadala ng bola at naagawan. so sa gitna pa lang tapos na atake natin. the other obvious lacking pa sa team natin is sa passing, gusto dapat laging short passes muna pag nasa center para di sayang ang possession. that's what you call lack of technical skills/composure. you could never have an effective attacking team without that prerequisite.

I'm glad Weiss is coaching the SEA games team as well. I hope he finds a lot of promising local players in the Suzuki U-23 tourney for future Azkals. What a great time for Philippine Football!

anyone watched the recent Inter-Schalke CL match?
that's what happen when you switch from a very disciplined defense to a more fluid offense.
remember that Inter has one of the most formidable firepower in Sneijder, Eto'o and Milito and a relatively strong defenders in Chivu, Maicon and Zanetti.
but still they conceded 5 goals to Schalke.
