"And get this, one candidate played in the Bundesliga and even won the Uefa Cup. The other candidate played in two World Cups and logged nine years for Barcelona."
Michael Büskens (Germany) and Albert Ferrer (Spain)?

"And get this, one candidate played in the Bundesliga and even won the Uefa Cup. The other candidate played in two World Cups and logged nine years for Barcelona." Michael Büskens (Germany) and Albert Ferrer (Spain)? Well, somebody confirmed that one of candidates being considered is Albert Ferrer. . . I did not expect Michael Buskens to be one. He will have an upper hand as Stephan Schrock played under him for 3 years (2009-12). Recordwise, he was appointed caretaker manager of known German club Schalke's and has guided Greuther Fürth to promotion in Bundesliga.

Being the cornerstone of the Azkals, Schrock will have some influence if Palami will eventually choose Buskens. . .working relationship between the two (Schrock and Buskens) seems smooth as evident of their promotion to Bundesliga in 2012. . .

Oh wow, I do believe he'd fit our needs quite well for the next few years and he'd be a definite step up from Weiss. And it would please some hardcore Raddy-loving fans here in the forum. However, I have some doubts as to how well he can withstand and overcome the inefficiencies of the Philippine "system" off the pitch. It's a truly different beast from the one he had to contend with in Singapore. Nevertheless, if he is selected I think the decision would be received mostly optimistically.

No more Coach Weiss means an additional defender for the team in Anton del Rosario! Yehey! No more makeshift defenders! It is Anton's fault for throwing a temper tantrum at Weiss, right in the very first game under Weiss, after being subbed out. He should have known better. That kind of behavior is not going to endear him to any coach, especially one who just started evaluating his pool of players. Now he has a chance to prove himself again, with a bigger pool of defenders to contend against. Hope he learned his lesson.

Caz,
I agree that Raddy would be a good choice. The adjustment to Philippine conditions would be no different with the other coaches under consideration, some of whom have probably never coached in Asia. He is a proven commodity as a head coach with years of experience in the region, compared to others who are coming from an assistant coaching position on another national team from another continent and with no experience in Asia. He has also always been complimentary about the Azkals on interviews. I think he has been eying our team for awhile. Maybe that is why he hasn't taken a job yet since last year.
It seems though that all the candidates being considered, all have significant experience either playing or coaching at a high level, which means that whoever we are going to get, will be a massive improvement over Weiss.

Looks like the coach that has the familiarity on asian football is the front runner of coaching job , he recently resigned coaching a national team , and he might be very familiar to filipino football fans . #LatestScoop !

Well I have known about it for some time, but they finally announced it on the inquirer. They are also considering the former captain and assistant coach on the US national team Thomas Dooley. He was born and grew up in Germany, but just like many of our players, was eligible to play for the US through his father. He has played in the World Cup as US captain and spend most of his pro career in the Bundesliga as a defender, winning the UEFA Cup in 96-97. sports.inquirer.net/140891/ex-us-world-cup-captain-in-talks-with-azkalsThey are looking at having at 5 or 6 friendlies prior to the Challenge Cup. www.azkalsfootballteam.com/news.php?id=434

cjeagle, I agree, it looks like Palami's got some good choices. Whether we get Raddy or Dooley would bring a whole lot of optimism. Sentiment is making me prefer the former Singapore coach, but Dooley's connections to the top tier of US Soccer is very interesting as well. Can't wait to hear about the other candidates!

Azkals would be in better hands with raddy at the helm, knowing all too well SEA teams. Either way we will have a much improved team for the betterment of Pilipinas Futbol as a whole.

Winfried Schaefer I guess . He played in the Bundesliga and also won the UEFA Cup (see hints above), and very familiar with Asian football.

Schaefer is currently coaching the Jamaican national team(although I don't know the length of the contract). He might not be available.
Dooley is the Bundesliga player who won the UEFA Cup.
