Just before leaving to rejoin FC Barcelona Escola in September, Sandro played with his Makati FC team yesterday when they won the U12 division of the 3rd Chelsea Blue Pitch Festival at the Circuit in Sta. Ana, Makati. A big thank you to Coach Jojo Durian and Comm. Cathy Nazareno, both of Chelsea Football School for putting up another successful tournament that further helps grassroots development in the country! The Blue Pitch withstood heavy overnight rains and allowed a full day of football for kids who saw most of their week's football training washed out in their home fields! Jojo and Cathy are the first club to have the foresight to build their own artificial turf because they saw that our local weather patterns would lead to many cancelled trainings and tournaments on natural grass fields. Sandro and his teammates thank Coach Selu Lozano and Guy Kiyeck for bringing out the best in them under tough conditions yesterday. They played excellent teams and each game was close. Congratulations also to all the participating teams for uplifting the development of this beautiful game! Again, the biggest winner is Philiippine Football! www.facebook.com/SandroReyesPH/photos/a.218052174991283.48091.204424129687421/584307405032423/?type=1&theater

One recurring theme during his stay in Barca Escola for Sandro, is that aside from playing for his team at the school, he is consistently called upon to play for the FC Barcelona Seleccion for his age group against other 1st division youth teams, so he sometimes plays 2 games every weekend. This weekend after scoring 2 goals and an assist for Team Vermaelen at the school helping them win 5-3, he helped the FC Barcelona Seleccion obtain a 9-2 victory over 1st division youth team FC Asco providing 2 assists in the process.

CHAMPIONS! FCB Escola wins the championship after beating an excellent CF Gava team 1-0 in the finals! Sandro scored the winning goal on a left footed strike after receiving a wonderful pass. FCB Escola won all their group games including a 1-0 semifinal win over a very strong Sant Gabriel squad. Several traditional 1st division powerhouse teams like Sant Gabriel, CF Gava and Fundacion Marcet were participating in this weekend tournament in the Alevin(U12) category. Interestingly the other prodigy who was selected with Sandro at the same time he joined Barca Escola, his friend Zak Gilsenan, was just signed by Liverpool after being courted by other clubs like Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham and Chelsea, when the family decided to go back to England after Zak did not make the grade this year at the school and was let go. www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/413130/Zak-Gilsenan-Liverpool-Barcelona-kid-starMy guess is that Sandro will start entertaining offers for a professional youth contract from FC Barcelona or other clubs in Spain or elsewhere(if he is not offered one by his parent club to join the La Masia Academy), once his scholarship ends at Barca Escola in the middle of next year. Sandro is a natural # 10 who can score, while Zak is more of a striker or wing mid.

Sandro's first tournament match for the second half of the season starts with a 5-4 come from behind win! Sandro scores the game winner on a left footed strike seconds from the final whistle. He ends the game with 2 goals against a tough FCB Escola rival team that had them down early 0-2 on 2 quick goals. The half ended 1-2 after his team pulled one back. Sandro's first goal was a right footed chip over the goalie to put his team up 3-2 later in the second half after they equalized early in the second half.

sandrodad's post: Sandro's second match this year last Saturday was another last minute cliffhanger! His team won 5-4 on last minute chip assist from Sandro to teammate Ethan for the win. Earlier Sandro scored 2 left footed goals in the first half that put his team ahead only for the strong opponents to equalize late in the second half. In the picture is Sandro scoring the first goal of the match 5 minutes into the match.

A 2-6 loss last weekend brings to an end the unbeaten run of Sandro's team this year. Sandro still managed to score a goal and assisted on the team's other goal to tie the match in the second half before Team Unzue scored 4 straight to close the match.

Sandro was again selected, for a third straight year, to play in the FC Barcelona Escola International Tournament held every Holy Week from Holy Monday to Maundy Thursday. On this, his third and last year in Escola, he will play with the FCB Blaugrana team. fcb-escola.fcbarcelona.es/detalle/noticia/ya-esta-aqui-el-cuarto-torneo-internacional-fcbescolaThis tournament is very important for Sandro against international competition from all over the world, as it is his best chance to impress as he hopes to join La Masia next year.

sandro dad's post: FCB Escola Blaugrana formacio team competing in the 4th FCB Escola International Tournament. Sandro thinks he has never played in the better team than this so far. He respects and likes these guys a lot! I am not surprised since this is the best players in the oldest age group at FCB Escola.

sandrodad's post Great tournament just finished! Sandro had a lot of fun and learned many new lessons on and off the field. Xavi was the guest of honor during the closing ceremonies and all the players got to shake his hand while making their way to take a team photo.
