what's aly's status btw? I was wondering why he was not subbed in during the Inferno match. I think he was injured a few months back and he just recovered. Team management probably does not want to risk letting him play yet.

what's aly's status btw? I was wondering why he was not subbed in during the Inferno match. It appears he's still not fully match fit. One of the posters here who saw the team train before the inferno pointed out that Aly trained separately from the team. I would rather they take a cautious approach to Aly's recovery. If I'm not mistaken this isn't his first time to incur a serious injury so I think it's best not to take risks with Aly if it ensures that he'll be fully match fit where it will matter - the Suzuki Cup. There are still several matches between now and the Suzuki Cup for Aly to get back in fighting form.

what's aly's status btw? I was wondering why he was not subbed in during the Inferno match. I presume the coaching staff was wanting to field him back in an official friendly, and didn't want to risk him an injury in an insignificant friendly like the Inferno game. Yeah, he was part of the squad that went to Bacolod on the Guam match, but he was reported to still complain soreness in his knees, so he wasn't part of that game either on the starters or the subs. During his last few Kaya appearances, their physios still insist he wouldn't able to carry a full 90. And just recently, as paulino19 reported on the other thread, he was still "frequenting the sidelines rehabbing his knee" during the training sessions at Oak Brook. A lot of questions will still be raised if Aly will be able to play the USVI match even as a sub. Let's just stay hopeful for this.

Overlooking the USVI and believing we can easily beat them by more than a few goals would be foolish(even as badly as they've been advertised to be). Especially after seeing the disjointed effort shown by the 1st half squad. I say this because we all know Weiss is resistant to change or at best slow to adapt, meaning we might see the same starting XI again! Who knows if USVI gets a lucky goal(or two). Remember our GK is still Sacapano(unless Ref gets better quick).
This is why I think Rob will be a very welcome addition to defense. He's been playing his regular league games so no need to worry about match fitness here. Carli is Carli, Sabio is Sabio and our LB is... a left winger?! If we look into Weiss' coaching history with the Azkals(& U teams), we really could lose this match if his coaching strategies insist we play more of that 1st half roster mishmash of his.
Having said that, I do agree he needs to experiment but in this case the experiment was an unqualified failure, lets move on to the next experiment.
I hope we play Anto Gonzales this time and more of those who played well in the Inferno game. I've watched the Inferno game twice now and it's no lie when people say they couldn't find IA. He was just all over the place, seemingly without rhyme or reason. But like I said, with Weiss, there's a high probability he will once again start!
*If you missed the game on TV, replay is on Balls Channel Wed 1:00pm(from ABSCBN)

Sacapano Carli --- Gier --- Sabio --- Uy Gonzales --- De Jong Reichelt --- Greatwich --- Caligdong Wolf
Substitutes: Omphroy, Bahadoran, Christiaens, Angeles brothers
Given the available healthy players, here's the formation I'd start with for the US Virgin Islands game. 4-5-1 with a 2-3 midfield. What's yours?

jonny posted on his website that the USVI game vs the Chicago Inferno game has been cancelled. filipinofootball.blogspot.com/2012/08/chicago-inferno-vs-us-virgin-islands-nt.htmlI guess the Inferno didn't think this game would attract a crowd so they cancelled it. I bet the USVI team wouldn't be so happy about this development as they specifically asked for another game, but considering they don't have a established fanbase here in the US, I always thought it wouldn't make sense for them to organize it here. Anyways I think the Azkals will remain here in Chicago to practice before heading on to Indy. Hopefully the weather cooperates as we have had another rainy day today.

What's yours? I think 4-5-1 is ideal since i believe the Azkals will be fronting that formation this coming Suzuki Cup more often. We will be facing great teams in Thailand thus we should stay defensive with a composed midfield that protects the back four, 4-5-1 should be the best system. Given the available players we have for the USVI game, i think i couldn't agree more with the squad proposed above, question though is if Weiss will use Mat Uy as a left back (which the guy is comfortable playing) or as a midfielder (Experiment?). Also highlighted is Caligdong, man i wondered.. where's his brilliants? He's maybe better coming off the bench and let young Christaens explore the left wing.

Cheffy looks very ineffective and our left wing seems like missing in action, I'd like to see Christiaens here and put Uy back to his natural position. i also think that Reichelt might give us more spark in our attack than Bahadoran

I guess we better put Christiaens on the starting XI over Caligdong and Reichelt over Misagh. Caligdong has been slow after the his injury. and I guess Reichelt is better than Misagh in that position. Reichelt has the better view of the pitch and can pass the ball effeciently. and I just thought, Reichelt and Wolf plays the same kind of football in Germany. They could have a better connection on the field. What's your thought? Hmmm

Does this game cancelled? It disappeared on PHI's FIFA webpage. Having bad feeling about this.

I wonder why it is no longer listed on the FIFA website. Probably it isn't a full international match anymore and just merely an exhibition game?

If this game is truly cancelled, at least one of the Azkals don't seem to know about it. Jonny just asked Anto Gonzales and he replied with a "where'd you get this news?"
