It is possible that they did not ask the permission of the USSF to arrange an international friendly here in the US. The USSF in the past usually considers that as enroachment on someone else's territory. Playing with club teams is one thing but to arrange a FIFA mandated international friendly on US soil, they probably needed to communicate with the USSF first. If this is the case, it is possible they can arrange a friendly with a club or a NCAA division 1 team instead as a possible replacement.

US Virgin Islands friendly with Azkals cancelled; promoters looking for alternative InterAKTV · Wednesday, August 15, 2012 · 3:17 am Courtesy of Dennis Guillermo. www.twitter.com/dRealSourceThe second match in the American training tour of the Philippine national men’s football team is in jeopardy after the US Virgin Islands squad did not show up for the event, according to the event’s media officer Dennis Guillermo. The Azkals were set to face the US Virgin Islands on Friday (Saturday morning Manila time) in Indianapolis, Indiana. But members of the team did not get on flights originally booked for them by organizers. The team supposedly asked the Philippine Football Federation and the promoters to shoulder the cost of a charter flight for the team, a demand which was refused. Match promoters are still trying to find an alternative opponent for the Azkals, who are using the training tour to prepare for the 2012 ASEAN Football Federation Suzuki Cup. The Philippine team succumbed in the first stop of the tour to the American semi-pro side Chicago Inferno, 3-1, last Saturday (Sunday in Manila). www.interaksyon.com/interaktv/us-virgin-islands-friendly-with-azkals-cancelled-promoters-looking-for-alternativeWell it looks the USVI team was looking for a free ride and didn't get it. Hopefully they can find a a strong opponent to replace them in such a short time frame.

This was officially on the FIFA schedule right? Do we get a no-show win from this?

CANCELLED. What the heck! Worst case scenario -- a 2nd match against the Inferno? I'd love to see that, see if our team can adjust in just a little time with how they should play against them after being blown out 3-1. Nahh!!

Might be too late to find an alternative National Team selection...but perhaps they can contact a local NCAA College Team in Indiana like Indiana University Hoosiers, University of Indianapolis Greyhounds, Indiana Wesleyan Wildcats, Valparaiso Crusaders, University of Evansville Purple Aces, Norte Dame Fighting Irish, St. Francis Cougars, IPFW Mastodons, or IUPUI Jaguars.

Yikes, it's cancelled. A good alternative is that they all come back to PH and participate in the #ClearDreamMatch bwahahahaha.
Maybe they'll just play a semi-pro club that is based nearby. Or maybe the Inferno again. Or if they are more than 22 in number, then the Azkals may form two teams that will play against each other hahahaha.
First, it was planned that they'll go up against Chicago Fire and USVI. Then it was Chicago Inferno instead of the Chicago Fire. Now the game against USVI would no longer happen. How frustrating.

Barring any other choices and dunno of the players availability but how about Chris Greatwich's Morris County Colonials maybe? He is the head coach of the team after all.

Notre Dame just because of the movie Rudy (yeah that's a different football) ;D Chicago Inferno Part 2!!

I hope they can find a replacement team. For me, I also hope they can resume their plan to play the game at Kuntz in Indianapolis since a lot of people have already made plans to go there, but it kind of sounds like they'll be staying in Chicago.
It's so difficult though kasi it's such short notice. The PDL season is over, so looking for the Chicago Inferno as an option is out of the question. I also believe the NPSL season is over (the league that Chris Greatwich's team, the Morris County Coloniels, play in). Perhaps we can play the "makeshift" version of the Inferno again.
Another option is playing one of the top Mens Amateur teams in Chicago like RWB Adria, who were in the finals of the United States Adult Soccer Association National Championships this year.
Other teams: AAC Eagles, Hellenic United, Greater Libertyville Soccer Association(GLSA) FC 74

I feel for Rob Gier. He bucked a recent injury and flew across continents for a game that was cancelled. Still hope that we could somehow play an international friendly there.

What about a 2nd exhibition game against Chicago Inferno?? I think we'll have a better defense now considering that Rob Gier is back in the line-up...

Would love to see the replacement team be a national team selection as well, but it's such short notice to find a team and get them to the states....The Inferno makeshift team or a College team would be something possible. Maybe even the U-17/U-18 United States National Team...or Canada's U-17/U-18 squad....who knows...
