So I'm watching the English commentary on a Malaysian station. English commentators complaining that both teams should be playing like Barcelona. Studio 23 should learn from them <_<. Some things atm:
1. Chieffy's off pace prolly because of lack of playing time from his injury 2. Even though Shrock is showing why he's not a CM, he's easily the best player on the pitch. He's playing too individualistically though. 3. Malaysia's 4-3-3 is severely better than our 4-4-2. I keep saying this, but 4-4-2 sucks, and it's showing. We're severely outnumbered in all parts of the field. 4. We're playing the best than we've ever had (even against Vietnam). UFL is great for the team, and even the commentators commended the Philippines for our league. Malaysia's much better though. 5. Malaysia showing how to take care of a pitch. That grass is the best of SEA.

This match just proved how important the Younghusband brothers are. No creativity and connection from the midfield to the forwards. No activity at all in the midfield. At times Schrock was at his lonesome with nobody to pass the ball to. Guirado was a ball-hog today. There were some instances that a teammate was running on the flanks and instead of passing it to him he either chose to take 2 defenders or cross the ball. His work-rate was terrific though. To be honest the only man i like in this match is the substitute, Marwin (or Marvin?) Angeles. We were lucky that the Malaysians didn't put their shots on target. We got lucky today. I see a complete squad versus Indonesia. We'll be a better squad. Have a good one ya'll!

Good game. Even though the English commentators felt Malaysia should've won, they believe we've entered the big guns of SEA based on this game. My opinions on the 2nd half:
1. Weiss was correct on every substitution. As said above, Chieffy was off pace. Angel Guirado's too flashy and can't make ground passes and throughballs at the international level (I guess that's why he didn't make it in the Tercera)..... Bringing Schrock wide and Marwin Angeles in gave us a better midfield imo. 2. We aren't any worse or better than Malaysia. The scoreline shows that we're equal in terms of skill. They just had a superior formation as well as superior tactics, which made them look better. Perhaps Weiss isn't big with the numbers game.... 3. Roland Mueller is good enough as a sub. Both Neil and Mueller are the best of SEA in terms of GKs and probably the top 10 of Asia. 4. We missed Phil. Wolf I don't think is a natural striker, but we do know he's a dolphin though.... Obviously, neither is Mulders a striker. I don't understand why Mulders played this game as a withdrawn striker, but Ott and Schrock are obviously better than he (sorry Mulders...). He comes back June 5 right? 5. We don't do enough pass-backs. We should base our play on ball movement, but we played longball instead. Marwin did position himself better than Schrock at CM on and off the ball though. 6. Stop the long throws. It caused a foul throw which obviously isn't good. We didn't make anything of them. Plus, we just lose possession. It's nice to do it once in a while though.
But yeah, good game. WELCOME TO THE BIG 6

Philippines-Malaysia 0-0 FT Malaysia dominated possession and attempts at goal but could not finish. They clearly benefited from their familiarity with each others game and better team cohesion than the Azkals. The Philippines defense held firm with an outstanding performance from their goalkeeeper Muller. The Azkals did have a few excellent chances on goal which unfortunately went begging. They are not just the same team offensively without the Younghusbands leading the attack. Wolf is clearly not comfortable playing the lone striker role without Phil Younghusband partnering him on top. He could have done better with the chances given to him. I would really like to see former national team player Freddy Gonzales be given a chance at reprising his role as striker for the national team again as he is absolutely dominating the UFL goal charts with 29 goals in 18 games even though his team plays in the 2nd division.
Good result for the Azkals overall as they were missing 5 or 6 of their best players while the Malaysians fielded their best team and were playing on the road.

Malaysians deserves to win that game, we're just lucky with the result. their dummy was very good but they failed to put the ball into the back of the net
