Replay was on Balls a few hours ago.
Another replay is scheduled this Sunday at 2pm on Studio 23. If you are not planning on watching the UFL that day with the myriad of venue options, you should be able to watch this.

Limpag: Tickets for friendly, not fan-friendly?By Mike T. Limpag Fair Play Wednesday, October 12, 2011 THERE was a glaring absence in the Philippines 4-0 win over Nepal the other night at the Rizal Memorial Sports Stadium, an absence that was so obvious on TV. A swathe of empty seats and even one whole empty section. From the jam-packed crowd in the World Cup qualifiers against Sri Lanka and Kuwait, the crowd was thinner last Tuesday night, and it was a pity because the Azkals put on quite a show, thrashing Nepal, 4-0. Curiously, Nepal is ranked one rung higher than Singapore, which beat the Azkals, 2-0, just last Friday. I tell you, the day I will understand the formula of the Fifa rankings, I’m going to send my resume to Nasa. But, back to the crowd. Did the ticket prices—P300, P500, P1,000, P1,500, P2,000 and P3,000—turn them off? Prices for a friendly that were curiously slightly more expensive than the ones for the World Cup qualifiers? Or is it because unlike Singapore, Nepal was an unknown entity despite its being ranked higher than the Lions? If it was because of the tickets, I hope in the five friendlies the PFF is planning for next year—against clubs like Fulham—the prices will be a bit friendlier. Even better, they could even give out a whole section for free, say, 1,000 of the 13,000 seats in Rizal? That wouldn’t be too bad wouldn’t it? Or, the PFF could give those VIP seats to fans who can present their tickets in the home games against Mongolia, Sri Lanka, Kuwait and Nepal? It would be a nice reward for these fans who trooped to all the home matches last year, right? But, that’s just me. WELCOME HOME, COACH GRAEME. During one of our many talks when he “returned home” from Australia, coach Graeme Mackinnon always said that he never really liked Manila because of the traffic, the crowd, etc. When he was based in Cebu and whenever he had to attend an affair in Manila, he always booked the first flight to the Big City and the last flight back to Cebu so he won’t have to spend the night in Manila. Now, he’s going to spend quite a lot of time in Manila, now that he’s going to be the new Global FC coach in the UFL. And did I say that’s Graeme’s first job after retirement in Australia? Welcome home, Coach Graeme and good luck in your UFL career. www.sunstar.com.ph/cebu/sports/2011/10/12/limpag-tickets-friendly-not-fan-friendly-184717#.TpXk3Sl_flU.facebook

I hope the PFF learns from this. Its a big difference for the fans when its a WCQ and a friendly. They need to adjust prices accordingly. If economics is the problem, then they will need to content themselves to teams closer to the Philippines(ASEAN region) so they will not spend too much on bringing these teams in. We've got the formidable Indonesia and Malaysia just outside our doorstep. I hope we schedule them NOW, to avoid scrambling for opponents like we did just a few weeks ago. Knowing Palami, Araneta and crew, I think they should be well along fixing this problem.
Another thought. I hope we get that "philsport arena?" (the one where we were suppose to put an artificial turf) done soon. It's only got around 10K seats(from what I remember) for friendlies, its better to have it smaller and full of people than too large and looking like Rizal with thousands of open seats left. It leaves a lot of ammo for detractors of the sports to spew crap.

In order of effect on fan attendance:
1. The weather. Just came from typhoons and floods, and it was raining just days before. I'm surprised it didn't rain during the game.
2. Ticket price. It's a friendly, after all. There should be at least a 35% discount. Just part of the PFF learning curve. I suspect there will be more price variations in coming games as the PFF tries to read the pulse of the fans. And rightly so. Only two games in Rizal (post football dark ages) so I don't expect them to get it right all the time.
In the US it's common for the local station to blackout a game if the stadium is not sold out. I don't know if that will work in Manila, but maybe there should be some other incentive made for the fans to go to the stadium instead of watching the game on TV. Maybe delay the telecast by 45 minutes, maybe some other idea. Or maybe it's too late to do something like that since the contract with ABS-CBN has already been signed.
Still in the learning curve, folks.

1. Its on a weekday. 2. Unpredictable weather and traffic jam that it would create in case of strong rains. Very undesirable specially with work waiting in the morning. 3. The general mood of the public is not so good with the floods and calamities all around. 4. Lack of media hype compared with the WCQ match. Winning the LTC and the friendly against Singapore would have given the media a reason to hype the match. 5. Live TV coverage. Some of friends opted to watch it on TV instead.

Other than the factors like being at home, eager to win after a lost and able to rest better than last time against Singapore, I think our size was a big factor in the game.
I like Michael Weis' comment during the interview with Ronnie Nathanielsz, I think it directly hit as well some members here that I hope people learn to be patient and that their ability to analyze the game should compliment as well the intangible factors surrounding the team before making judgement.
Good win by the Azkals, i thought if we had more rest just like we had against Nepal, most likely we would have made at least an even score with Singapore.

No blacking out of games please. How about us folks dependent on livestream? Did you see the twitter timelines during and after the misstep ABS had by NOT showing games live? Blackouts will never be an option, especially when the broadcaster has multiple channels at their disposal.

We should have taken the chance while Nepal was here to have the U-23 team play them. The U-23 team still hasn't had a chance to play a friendly against another international team with less than 3 weeks to go before the start of the SEA games.

It would have been helpful for our u23 squad... problem is most of the euro based u23 were not in the country while Nepal NT was here but it would have been a good work out for the homegrown players of the u23 squad it the friendly game happened...

Here is the "match analysis" of the Nepal NT after their match with the PHL, a.k.a. Coach Roberts' sermon.
I admit, coach Roberts was very bitter about the 4-0 loss there.
