Hi stellar, in one of the articles I posted on the Azkals news thread, it mentioned that the players in Bacolod now are for the LT Cup only and I figure they will be joined there by the Belgian contingent shortly. Obviously the Philippine team did not make it easy on themselves without the available senior squad members, but it should be a good test/practice for a majority of the U23 members.
In the same article, they mentioned that only 5 members of the LT Cup team(U23 and senior) will join the senior team for the Singapore friendly. Undoubtedly the NT will be at full strength come October.
Add: If the article is correct Jonsson, Ott, de Jong will be joining the LT Cup squad.

Thanks for the tip, Wiking. I believe the coaching staff are getting most of the senior squad members to prepare for the friendlies against Singapore and Nepal. On the other hand, they might have focusing the U-23 squad onto the LT Cup, including those senior squad members who are with them in Bacolod.
Depending on the final outcome 1-2 weeks from now, we'll see how the final line-up for the LT Cup will be formed then.

From the looks of the previous lineups in the training camp in Bacolod, I'm now seeing a clearer picture of what will the final lineup will look like for the tournament.
Having a majority of the players from the U-23 will not hurt and letting the younger members of the senior team participating in the training camp is an advantage.
I'm optimistic of what will happen next.

Hi stellar, lets not be too sure of the lineup yet, they did mention that Jonsson, Ott and de Jong will show up for the LTC(hopefully), plus Gener, Sacapano and Jonsson are not exactly spring chickens anymore. I like the mix though, some veteran stiffening for the team and hot youngbloods ready to burst out the gate! can you believe Mark Hartmann though, this kid seemingly just exploded out the scene! I wouldnt be surprised if he played a role in next years senior Azkals team. I was leery of going senior/U23 mix for the LTC but I hope I'm wrong and this mixed team makes a big impression in this coming competition.

Grieving Younghusbands likely to play in Long Teng Cupabs-cbnNEWS.com Posted at 09/15/2011 10:27 PM | Updated as of 09/15/2011 10:27 PM MANILA, Philippines – Football siblings Phil and James Younghusband are still likely to join the Philippine Azkals’s bid in the upcoming Long Teng Cup despite the recent death of their mother, Susan. Jojo Durian, a close friend of the Younghusbands, said the two are inclined to honor their commitments for the team even while grieving. “I think so,” he said. “I really don’t know the plans because after this mag-uusap pa kami but I guess these guys are professionals.” Durian will be among those who will act as guardians for the Younghusband brothers and their sister, Keri. Susan passed away last Saturday after suffering from a massive heart attack. She was laid to rest Thursday morning at the Heritage Park in Taguig City. -- With a report from Ginger Conejero, ABS-CBN News www.abs-cbnnews.com/sports/09/15/11/grieving-younghusbands-likely-play-long-teng-cup

Matthew Hartmann can be a striker also? Nd Guirado can return to his midfield position.

Anton del Rosario will not be able to join the team for this year's LT Cup due to spraining both of his knees. Please refer to the Physio Room thread.
Who will then replace him at RB? I presume Lexton Moy, if not Jason de Jong or Manny Ott (remember Coach Weiss' dream team?). Or maybe we'll be seeing James Younghusband debut at his former position at Chelsea?

Carli Olaivar plays right back for his club if I'm not mistaken. Isn't he reported to be joining the Long Teng Cup.

So, whoever's gonna replace Del Rosario at right back could be those I mentioned.

Rob Giers wife is due, or maybe has given birth already, this September from news a few months back. He has already said he cannot make it for the friendlies because of this situation. Carli does play RB for his Spanish club so if del Rosario is still in coach Weiss' doghouse or injured, that spot is for him. I believe Lexton uses both feet so technically he can be in any of the outside spots. Sabio has played CB and OB for the senior Azkal teams so if he is free from the "doghouse" too, he can play in RB's old position. There are the U23 players also, Weiss might play one or two of them. Plus, James Yh, Weiss has been experimenting with him at CB wasn't he? Lastly, if RB could play, why waste a player of Carli's caliber as a reserve? Sayang lang...
I can't wait to see what the coach has in store for us in terms of the starting 11!
BTW, Jacques vB has played on the defensive side too, maybe he'll be tried there??
Lotsa options, or lineups that we don't know about, I hope they release something soon...

"Doghouse," good play on words. I meant Carli to fill in for Rob Gier. If ever then Coach Weiss should put him at CB, and pair with James YH (to fill in for Aly B, if he's still in the "doghouse"), we can't blame him if he'll experiment with the defense line. I think that the LB and RB position would be given to the U-23 players, or at least have other senior players take a chance. Lexton is good from what I'm researching, so I would put him at RB. If Jonsson would be able to take the LB, no problem for me. Oh, so many options and combinations, we see, and that's really good. The defense line and the GK position (in case of Mueller filling in for Etheridge) is now expanding its pool and that's beneficial.

Ah I got what you said now stellar. Anyway, I hope they release the roster soon. I'm very curious to see what the lineup is going to look like with all the new players.

Yes, I am quite excited for Wednesdays match. I hope to see our Belgian contingent, the Hartmanns and Carli at the back too. I wonder who they have in mind to man the back side besides Carli? Maybe tomorrow is when we see JYh move to a new position. They played well in the Visayas, I hope it carries over for this tourney.
