Sorry Wiking for pushing the expectations. Personally, I'm also waiting for your analysis of the game against Taiwan.

Guys no long article right now, I'm pissed off, but... We had SIX(6), yes six subs that could have been used IF the rule was the same like last year. See jonny's blog he has one from last year. Although I still support the coach, it is unacceptable not to relieve a player who is obviously having a bad day!! Especially if you've got freakin&^$^%$ SIX available subs!! Coach why bring 20 players if you don't trust the 14-20th player &^(%$%#&&!!! Real quick, if you're able to watch a replay watch these guys: Best back line performance: Aly's back baby!! Best newby performance: Neckson Leonora. Best mid: JamesYh Man of the match: Roland "the Rock" Mueller Most missed: Chieffy and Phil's old self Most needed to be "sat down" player: Ian and Phil These are just my opinion, I am no expert, but if you can watch a replay watch the guys I mentioned please, you'll be pleasantly surprised. no problem pre, I'll wait for your analysis... I can't find any link that has the Azkals vs. Taiwan game on replay... We don't have balls channel here so can't watch the replay tomorrow also...

im so dissapointed with the azkals performance we could have won the game, we have our chances. too many in-accurate long ball. our players lack's awareness, we seldom use through pass, some of our players lacks character (aggressiveness & determination), hopefully the coaching staff should see on this. but still go go azkals.

the only positive thing in the azkals right now is our goalkeeper..the rest??? hmmm...we just lack the skill plain and simple..puro long passess..kung hindi sa empty space in the pitch, dun papunta sa kalaban..Aslo, maybe its time we try another striker...phil is not getting the job done.. I have to disagree.. We just cant rely on one on one capabilities of our strikers. We need our mid fields to step up. Phil is still our most prolific striker but in modern football, he needs help from the mid. In terms of POM, Muller had a fantastic game. The best player so far in this match!

mag fantasize as coach muna ako:
Ganito ang aggawin kong starting IX:
Phil YH - Guirado
Chieffy - Moy - Hartmann - James YH
Leonora - Borromeo - Poetschke - De Murga
Mueller
Then observe kung sino ang inaalat/minamalas and do some adjustments in the 2nd half. Example: if alat si Phil, replace him with Misagh in 2nd half. If one of my defenders gets a yellow card on the first half, i'll also replace them with either Fernandez or Unabia. Kung alat either Moy or si older Hartmann, i'll change them with Christiaens. Heck, i'll even replace Araneta (yes you heard me right, Araneta) as an central attacking midfielder afterall, he can be one great scavenger and, as someone said here before, his head is more accurate than his feet.
Then at 2nd half, i'll utilize my 3 subs to put fresh players to replace our wingers (chieffy and James YH), Guirado, or just in case someone gets injured.
THE MAIN POINT IS: kaya nga isang batalyon player ang pinadadala mo eh para utilize sila ng husto. We have a lot of good and promising players in our arsenal (except for Gener , no offense but we could have had selected better options such as Simon Greatwich ).

on good things about this long teng cup even if our azkals are disappointing is that we have found ourselves some real gem on our u23 backline... With Leonora - Potchke - De Murga looks like our backline will be solid for the SEA games...

Ano "no cohesion" na naman? "no cohesion/lack of cohesion"? I think that scapegoat is already "gasgas" na to the max as the Azkals were given ample time to prepare.

@caz - you mentioned that Guirado should go back to Spain to relearn his attacking instinct. IMHO, it's not necessary actually. The problem I see is that Guirado is playing both attacking and defensive mid when he's supposed to be our big, tall striker whose purposesly built to "low-post" along the of the opponent's defensive line, beat the offside trap and tank his way inside the penalty box. He should be our Pinoy version of Germany's Mario Gomes or, in a more realistic comparison, similar to Singapore's old but tall Aleksandr Duric. And since football is the epitome of how a team sport is played, the mistake of one will take a toll on the rest of the team. Hence, Phil Younghusband's seemingly lackluster performance. It's just everyone is relying on him to make golden opportunities when in fact the oppponent is not stupid to let him go unmarked to shut him down (usually with more than one pa nga eh). Ah, I was just being silly when I said he should go back to Spain to regain his Azkal bite. Forgive me for being frustrated. I'm just comparing Angel's performances in the tune-up games in Germany, in the Challenge Cup qualifiers, and World Cup rounds. He seemed like such a force to be reckoned with on attack. Unfortunately he's been on the receiving end of some horrible tackles and has gotten some injuries. Those seem to have taken an edge off his aggression, which I've noticed since his last game against HK where he was an attacking mid in the first half. It didn't help that the calls weren't going his way. He still is an important player for us, however, and I'd like to see him back at 100% and used as a forward. Phil was actually doing well when in the flanks, making some decent crosses early on but Ian couldn't handle them. When presented with opportunities to score up close to the goal, I thought Phil had one touch too many and would lose possession or have his strikes saved. Anyways, I thought Mark and Misagh might have Mixed things up in our favor late in the match when things were falling flat on both sides. In the bigger picture, (and on a more positive note) this is an opponent that did well against Malaysia. Bodes well for us in the next Suzuki Cup. And the U23 players are getting some fantastic experience for the SEA Games too. Oh well, hoping for a draw between HK and Chinese Taipei. And a big win for us on Tuesday.
