good job, Wiking. maaasahan ka talaga. LOL thanks boss... Just saw the game. Good win for the Azkals, but more importantly, we see the old reliables and some of the U23ers. Some personal observations.AZKALS:In the beginning the Azkals showed more passing I wasn't used to seeing from them. A lot of mid and long passes that were surprisingly well placed. Coach Weiss' doing I'm sure. It looked very effective throughout the match. #17(N. Leonora?) Very scrappy kid, very fast and gets in the mix against the big guys. Played outside back. Fearless. Lexton Moy, played midfield, nice passes and gets in the mix but faded later on. James Yh, Cedelf T. said it, excellent long outlet passes, uses his height effectively, could be better than RobG even if it pains me to say that. Definitely faster too. He single handedly stopped a lot of Global incursions. Gener, the 36 year old guy played the entire match, he's no star but you don't have to worry too much wherever spot he plays at. Chieffy, plays offense plays defense, nuff said. Sacapano, no offense to the PPascual fans, but the best all Filipino GK is STILL Sacapano. Watch the game, you'll know what I mean. Jeffrey Christiaens didn't play too long but definitely has offensive tendencies and was the assist man for Ian Araneta's header for a goal. Carli, played well as mid, likes to attack, good passer Second half mostly Global on defense. GLOBAL:Misagh Bahadoran, super fast, when he subbed out you could see Global wilt. High energy player, was in a lot of breakaways but didn't have support. Coach Weiss, you've got to play this kid more! David Basa played great, stopped a lot of Azkal incursions. Is he still with the Azkals, because he deserves too. Barbaso, this guy is awesome on one on one defense. He stopped Ian, Chieffy and Phil. Watch out for him. OTHERSTUFF:The pitch looks like S*%T, I thought de la Salle was hired to take care of that field(and paid)?! At the 25min mark, the Azkals made a goal that a linesman said was offside, but it wasn't, the announcers saw it, the crowd saw it and from the TV it looked like there was a Global player right by the goal already, so how could it be offside? Bad call! It would have been one of the Hartmanns goal(the brother with hair). Thats it folks.

question:
Im confused
Did Lexton MOY played for Kaya against Global last monday? Did Lexton MOY played for the National team against Global yesterday?
If this is the same guy, I did not notice him when he played for Kaya, but yesterday? He was solid. He can hold the middle, composure is there I think we found a good addition for the National Team along with Mark Hartman.
Did Lexton MOY signed for KAYA FC?

locotes,
yes he signed for Kaya FC. he already announced in on twitter when he first arrived. Unlike the other azkals in Kaya FC, he is new to the national team, so weiss probably wanted to see how he fits in with the team.

Phl Azkals nip UFL champs, 3-2 By Alder Almo (philstar.com)
MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Azkals leaned on Ian Araneta’s goal late in the match to get past UFL champion Global FC, 3-2, today in the I Can Serve Football Invitationals at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium.
The Azkals, who used some players from the Under-23 national team in this match, attacked aggressively from the kick-off resulting in Phil Phil Younghusband’s goal off 19-year old Fil-British Mark Hartmann’s perfect assist inside the box barely four minutes into the match.
Global Smartmatic had several chances to score but Eduard Sacapano, Neil Etheridge’s back-up, did a great job defending the pitch for the Azkals in the early minutes of the match.
Saving his own missed shot, Younghusband again connected in the 29th minute mark to double the Azkals’ lead, 2-nil.
Global's relentless attack found a crack on the Azkals’ defense that led to national training pool member Misagh Bahadoran's goal, to cut the lead, 2-1, just before the break.
Global equalized with seven minutes into the second half as Sudanese and UFL’s leading scorer Izzeldin El-Habbib scored on a long lob to tie the match at 2-all. The goal was El-Habbib’s second in the charity tournament that serves as a kick-off to Breast Cancer Awareness Month this coming October.
With the momentum shift, Global FC kept on pressuring the Azkals’ defense, which missed skipper Aly Borromeo and Anton Del Rosario due to various injuries. But Sacapano proved to be tough enough as the back-up goal keeper saved consecutive attempts by Global’s Bahadoran and El-Habbib.
Fresh legs saved the Azkals from a draw with late substitute Araneta making an immediate impact with a header from reserve Jeff Christiaens in the 85th minute.
The win was the second in a row for the Azkals against Global FC, which is also being managed by national team manager Dan Palami.
The Azkals also scored a 3-1 victory against Global FC last Sept. 11 during their Bacolod training camp. With the Younghusband brothers still grieving their mother’s untimely death due to massive heart failure, Hartmann took the scoring cudgels with a hat-trick.
The Azkals will meet Kaya Cignal, which absorbed a 1-nil loss at the hands of Global last Monday, in the final game of the charity tournament organized by the I Can Serve Foundation and backed by LBC and Sun Life.
The match, which is expected to draw a good weekend crowd, will be held on Saturday at 3pm in the same venue. It will be telecast at 5pm on AKTV on IBC Channel 13, TV5's sports channel.

What a poor excuse for journalism. Even if you aren't a specialist writer for football, shouldn't you at least research football lingo?
I mean defending the pitch? really? who defends the pitch? from what?
and saving his own shot? maybe "gathering the rebound from his first effort" would be a nice phrase.
Just my pet peeve - its not just football players that we need to develop. We also need to develop the media to adapt to football.

Azkals slip past Global FC in ICanServe InvitationalBy Cedelf P. Tupas Philippine Daily Inquirer 12:50 am | Thursday, September 22nd, 2011 MANILA, Philippines—The Philippine Azkals, flaunting new combinations, squeaked past reigning United Football League Cup champion Global FC, 3-2, Wednesday in the second match of the ICanServe Invitational at the Rizal Memorial Stadium. A header from substitute Ian Araneta five minutes from time proved to be the marginal goal for the Azkals, who took a 2-1 lead at the half after two early strikes from Phil Younghusband. Misagh Bahadoran, a member of the Azkals playing for Global, cut the Azkals’ lead three minutes before halftime, before a sublime long-range strike from Izo El-Habbib made it 2-all in the 52nd minute. Araneta, coming in for Mark Hartmann in the 65th minute, finally broke the deadlock with a powerful header into the top corner after meeting Jeff Christiaens’ cross from the left flank. Using the tournament as part of their preparation for the Long Teng Cup in Taiwan late this month and the Southeast Asian Games in November, the Azkals unveiled a new-look squad that included five members of the Under-23 pool in Mark and Matthew Hartmann, Carli de Murga, Nickson Leonora and Reymark Fernandez. James Younghusband, a natural right winger, was also deployed at central defense alongside Fernandez in the absence of skipper Aly Borromeo, who was sidelined by an ankle injury, while Lexton Moy, a US-raised midfielder, also made his first start for the Azkals. Global FC made two changes to the side that started in the 1-nil victory over Kaya FC last Monday with Yu Hoshide rested and Aaron Altiche taking his place on the right flank. The new combinations worked almost seamlessly in the opening stages as the Azkals saw more of the ball and proved dangerous with quick combination plays on the attacking third. A sweeping move led to Phil Younghusband’s sweetly-struck left-footed volley from just inside the box four minutes in. Mark Hartmann’s flick-on set up Younghusband to fire past goalkeeper Paolo Pascual. The Global booters consoled themselves with swift counters and Bahadoran created the first real chance, hitting the crossbar with an awkward left-footed shot from a difficult angle. Azkals goalkeeper Ed Sacapano was alert to keep out two shots from Altiche on the rebound. Moy, De Murga, Hartmann and Younghusband continued to combine well up front and Hartmann nearly doubled the tally in the 25th minute when Phil found him unmarked inside the area only for him to shoot straight at Pascual. Younghusband was not to be denied his second goal though five minutes later. Another combination play involving Hartmann and De Murga and an error from Pascual saw Younghusband break free. Valentine Kama did well to save the initial effort off the line, before Younghusband followed it up to make it 2-nil. With the Azkals pushing their defensive line higher than usual, Global threw balls in behind the defense and Bahadoran, who was causing problems with his pace, burst into the area after a great through ball from El-Habbib to put a side-footed finish past Sacapano in the 42nd minute. Global started the second half brightly and El-Habbib left the Azkals defense stunned when he lobbed a seemingly harmless ball from the left flank that floated past Sacapano, who was rooted to his spot. As the game wore on, Global carved up the clearer chances. Bahadoran and El-Habbib were denied anew by an inspired Sacapano in the 60th minute, after they had broken free from an Azkals defensive line that looked weary. The Azkals put fresh legs in Jake Morallo and Christiaens, who forced a decent low save from Pascual from 12 yards out. But just when it looked like the match was heading into a stalemate, Araneta, the striker who had also scored in Air Force’s title-clinching 1-1 draw against Global in the UFL last May, delivered the game-winner. “We had new players in the team, but we must improve,” said Azkals coach Michael Weiss. The Azkals face Kaya on Saturday in the final match of the tournament staged for the benefit of ICanServe Foundation, a group promoting breast cancer awareness. sports.inquirer.net/17409/azkals-slip-past-global-fc-in-icanserve-invitational

ang arte mo! basta naiintindihan ng mga readers lalung-lalo na sa mga baguhan sa football, okay na yan. wag masyado maarte na dapat ganito ganiri ang terms. dati nagrereklamo kayo na di binibigyan ng atensyon ng media ang football. ngayong binibigyan na ng atensyon, magrereklamo naman kayo dahil porke't di pasok sa PURIST football'ISH terms niyo. naiintindihan niyo namang mga PURISTS kung ano gusto iparating ng writer pero putak pa rin kayo ng putak, as if maiintindihan ng mga baguhan sa football if the writer needs to be PURE football'ISH in the terms he used.
ang mga baguhan sa football NEED NO EDUCATION FROM YOU PURISTS, ALL THEY NEED IS TO ENJOY AND LOVE THE GAME. wala na kayong paki kung ang tawag nila sa pitch ay field, sa leg ay game, sa skipper ay captain, sa football ay soccer. football/soccer isn't about knowing the football'ISH/european'ISH terms but it is all about enjoying the game KAHIT NA DI NILA ALAM KUNG ANO ANG MGA TERMS NA YAN NOR THE OFFSIDE RULE. Ang importante masaya ang taong-bayan.
bleeeeeeeeeeeh. e e

Ano gusto mo mangyari - same level nalang ngayon ang lahat ng aspeto ng sports? hindi ba ang gusto natin ay continuous improvement? And please, context and grammar ang sinasabi ko. Pag writer ka sa kahit anong topic, maski sports, politics, etc, grammar at context ang mahalaga. And you are right ang importante ay matuto mahalin ang larong football. I meant no offense sa mga casual fans - i was directing my comments to the professionals - meaning they get paid to do what they do and they should do it the correct way. You are way out of line na sinasabi mong purist ako. Paano nila maiintindihan kung mali ang nababasa nila?
