Hello all just saw the game and would like to share some personal observation for those who weren't able to see it.
AZKALS:
James Yh: You would think I'd mention Phil, but it's James who was responsible for most of the good things in this game. He started at CB and the result was no goal for KAYA. It appeared that he was the 'Captain' of the defense and they responded very well. 2nd half he moved to his old outside mid position, the second half was when the fireworks happened for the NT. Better ball distribution suddenly and he was responsible for Phil's first goal and more...
M. Bahadoran: Disappointing performance. Even Weiss said so at the end of the game. In his defense, he was in the wrong position for his skill set. He deserves to be upfront but they put him in James' old position. He's a goal scorer not passer. They took him out at the half.
Carli: Quiet game, he played central mid. Competent but not spectacular this game. I think they might move him to fullback for the LTC. My opinion, they should, see below.
R. Gener: Kaya tried to attack him early and often. He was actually caught out of position or out runned especially by Dagroh but was saved by Oliver P, James Yh or R Mueller. Bad game from one of my sentimental favorites.
Oliver P: Played CB with J Yh. I keep thinking he's a young kid but he is 23 already(isn't he). Played very well, tall, lanky doesn't seem fast but is. Uses body well to unhinge an opponent. Very promising kid!
Matt Hartmann: Played LB. He played mid the last time. He was very effective. Big guy, can't tell if he's got the speed but he is young and very active wherever he plays in the pitch.
Angel: Very surprising performance considering he hasn't really trained yet! Scored at 66min exactly where Schrock made his Kuwait goal. He played attacking mid. Just love the guys moves on the pitch.
Chieffy: What can I say, high energy, plays with the big boys, goal at 69 minutes. Indispensable. played his old left mid.
Phil Yh: Best and most reliable scorer of all Azkals, BUT, he needs to pass the ball. Mark was open 2 to 3 times and he(Phil) shot the ball anyway.
Mark Hartmann: Big forward. So much energy and for his young age, is still getting better. Scored at 54minute.
R Mueller: Mishandled a ball when he was in a crowd, drew a gasp from the audience, but all in all played well. He wasn't really tested by Kaya's non existant offense though.
KAYA:
Nate Burkey: Played well in the first half, but disappeared the 2nd half, I'm not sure if he subbed out.
J Sabio: His speed saved him a few times. I think he still deserve to be Azkal reserve.
The goal keeper: He wasn't as bad as the score would say, it's because the defense was that bad...
Aly B: Bad game, must be from his injury.
I missed the first 5 minutes but I tried to put together the starting positions. Please correct me if I'm wrong:
R Mueller R Gener-----Oliver P.-----James Yh-----Matthew H. Carli Misagh B.--------------------Chieffy Angel G Phil Yh--------------------Mark H.
Excellent performance from the national squad. It gives me hope that we may even win the LTC. I just hope our defensive 4 are finally finalized.

The formation was right, Wiking. They did a 4-4-2 diamond formation that time. While Kaya did a 4-4-1-1, it wasn't really effective given that their defense was really bad. I could really observe how Aly B played too deep and slow around the middle of the 2nd half. I don't know how will I predict his play on the LT Cup. I am hoping that he won't be the team's Achilles' heel considering he's the NT skipper. Saba Sedeghi, the Iranian goalkeeper for Kaya, was impressive though. He's got more saves than Mueller had. Snappy man. Speaking of Mueller, I can really feel how he communicates well with the back. Although he's not that well-versed with English compared to Neil Etheridge, his gestures can tell that he "talks" with them to secure the defense line. That mishandling is just intriguing, by the way. But let's see if he will do well against the high-stamina teams in the LT Cup. Those Younghusband and Hartmann siblings were just EXPLOSIVE. Their 2nd half performance blew me away. Angel still impressed me in spite of not having enough training before coming here in the PI. Must be his attacking urges that still kicked in after that WCQ campaign. Chieffy, plays defense, plays offense, 'nuff said. Carli and Oliver were good. But what happened to Bahadoran and Gener? They seems to be unfit for that position or at least got out of place. They seemed to like stuck there all the time passing here and there, and being spun around more often. Oh, please I would be up and willing to see James YH at the back with Aly at the LT Cup. Although Aly has a wider skill level, James is really witty and snappy in the defense line. Maybe his nostalgia with Chelsea made him play well. This fixture made me excited for LT Cup. We'll see then.

Azkals rout Kaya Cignal, ready for Long Teng Cup By Alder Almo (philstar.com) Updated September 24, 2011 06:58 PM Comments (1) SHARE: facebook yahoo! buzz MANILA, Philippines – The Long Teng Cup-bound Philippine Azkals used a strong second half to dominate United Football League’s Kaya Cignal FC, 5-nil, Saturday at the end of the I Can Serve Foundation Football Invitationals before a sizable crowd at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium. The Azkals gained much needed confidence and cohesion with their new lineup heading into the 4-nation Long Teng Cup which is scheduled on Sept. 30-Oct. 4 in Taiwan. Mark Hartmann opened the scoring parade of the national squad in the second half via penalty kick in the 55th minute. The 19-year old Fil-British striker sailed his attempt above Kaya Cignal’s wall defense to score the stunning goal. Fil-Spanish Angel Guirado, who just arrived from a brief vacation in Spain two days prior to the match, made the second goal with a crossover fake off his defender at the 67-minute mark of the match. Three minutes later, Chieffy Caligdong followed up a saved shot by Kaya Cignal’s goalie Saba Sadeghi to hike Azkals’ lead, 3-nil. Phil Younghusband, who aggressively attacked Kaya Cignal’s defense all throughout the match, finally gained ground with two goals – a great feed from his brother James in the 82nd minute and the final goal four minutes later. Fil-German goalie Roland Muller also made a good account of himself in his debut with the team, saving four attempts of Kaya Cignal as Sudanese striker and the UFL leading scorer Izzeldin El-Habbib was held scoreless. “I am satisfied with our game especially in the second half. We struggled in the first half as I gave Angel [Guirado] some playing time, one day after coming back. Phil and James [Younghusband] played great especially James on defense,” Azkals coach Michael Wise said. It was a fitting follow up to Azkals' opening 3-2 win against UFL Cup champion Global Smartmatic last Wednesday. The national team will leave for Taiwan on Wednesday. www.philstar.com/SportsArticle.aspx?articleId=730589&publicationSubCategoryId=200

Doesn't this guy play for Global?

yup, IlHabib is one of the mainstays of global along with his brother. I think he is a naturalized citizen now and could have helped but they have a policy of accepting only those with at least a Filipino parent
As for Hartman's goal, it sounds like a free kick since he is kicking over a wall. You can ask those who saw the match.
I don't think the writer is familiar with football terms or with the players.

Similar to the one he scored against Azkal during the UFL all star weekend.

The offense was better when Weiss replaced Misa and put JYH on his old position, no question there. But I also like what JYH shows when he plays the CB. He is fast, strong and Unlazy for the CB spot. Remember when we always worry that the opposing striker can burn/outrun our CB(Gier & Ali), you wont feel that if JYH will play that position.
I think we can use him as a CB and look for somebody that can fill that RW/RM position that he will vacate. Not for the LTC but for other friendlies I think we can put Schrock at RM/RW instead coz and put M.Hartman in the middle alongside Paul Maulders. I can rely on JYH playing CB than Sabio, DelRosario,Gier or ALI. Its easier to look for a RW/RM player than a solid CB player. Im not sure if you share the same view on this.
So who do you think will fit that RW/RM spot if JYH will play CB? I was hoping for Misa, but the guy failed me last night.

I feel you're referring to Matthew beside Mulders at the center mid. I can't afford putting Mark behind. He's fit and powerful at the front all the time. Misagh failed my expectations. Hoping he won't do that in Taiwan.

Excellent tactical adjustment from coach Weiss. It totally changed the complextion of the game. I just didn't expect or had the impression that Misa was a one dimensional player. Would anyone put him upfront and replace Hartman or PYH? Probably not but hopefully he gets more playing time as a forward especially against team like Macau.. Just to see his capabilities in an international level.. I'm sure he will score lots of goals for the NT

He has the experience playing against HK nationals and can distribute the ball. But of course, we have more options once our euro based players becomes available..

sorry guys, my notes were kinda cluttered. Yes, Mark H goal was a free kick as kulaspero15 has said. Here are a few more stuff I wrote down and other observation so those who didn't see can have a better feel for the game. 66 minute Chieffy goal was a rebounding ball from a Mark H miss. It was a defensive failure for KAYA because they all stopped when the KAYA goalie blocked the first shot. The defense walked away(!) thinking the play has stopped, Chieffy just kicked it in. Needless to say, KAYA goalie was irate at his defense, because they were around the ball! Mark H out at the 75th minute. Ian true to his nature had a nice shot on goal after but it was blocked. It could have gone in if the KAYA goalie was less diligent. First half. Even if the Azkals didn't score there were minutes where they had KAYA reeling badly. Example is this series that happened within 7 minutes. All were hard shots too. 13min Mark H miss 17min Phil Yh miss 18min Mark H. miss 19min shot on goal called offside but linesman was slow to drop the flag. Lexton Moy: He did not play because he was injured again, ankle sprain. Here's the deal with this guy. He was injured(leg) during the beginning of his Azkals tryout last month, injured again (foot prob if I remember correctly) about 7 days ago. If you might have noticed with my other post. I really root for this guy and think he can do pretty well as an Azkal. But his durability is in question right now. Its too bad, he could have played at RB, his natural spot, and should have done better than Gener. James Yh: I really feel bad for my fellow fans who didn't see this game. James really was the man of the match. Yes goals is easy to judge but not defensive work. My opinion, James is the future at CB. Aly B: Injury was the cause of his lousy play yesterday. He is still world class when fit. Misagh B: I'll say it again, he is not a midfielder. If he and Phil Yh switched position yesterday, the result would've been bad for Phil Yh too, he shoots first pass later, just like Misagh. de Murga: I said earlier that he was kinda invisible in the game. I'll correct myself, he was playing center mid and concentrating mostly on defense. The result is unquestioned. They shut down KAYA after all. He was pretty aggressive too, he was carded in the first half. Yellow Card: 1st half de Murga 48 min Oliver P. (nice tackle to save a breakaway!) 50 min JYh 60 min Chieffy After that I'm not sure(ran out of space on my paper )

JYH is the future CB, MISA cant play wing and Carli was invisible.
BTW Stellarboy, I was talking about Mark Hartmann(goal scorer). I like to see him play midfield with Paul Maulders.
If Schrock is not around, lexton Moy can play RM if he is fit. I like it like this when the pool of players is deeper, unlike last year we just dont know where to get players.
Any chance one of the Greatwich brothers sign/plays for a UFL team? insiders? any info?
