Like I said if the Mongolians play defensively the game would be low scoring. The Mongolians will need to open up their game in the 2nd game and this will give our players a chance to score.
De Jong did not play very well today, and the finishing by Araneta leaves a lot to be desired. Otherwise we would have had a bigger lead. Ian hasn't scored in 4 games. William Guerridon should be given a chance to show what he can do in that situation.
Nevertheless congratulations are in order. Go Azkals.

De Jong played Solid, although he needs to work on his temper sometimes. He easily gets upset and goes for those dangerous tackles. With Gueridonn not part of the line-up, there were reports that Gueridonn had passport problems and did not make it to the team. He should be good to go in the next game though as coach Weiss is clearly impressed with this lad...

De Jong did not play to his usual bulldog terrier standards. He gave up the ball several time in dangerous positions on the field and was unable to keep ball possession which is fatal for a defensive midfielder. I wonder if his lack of playing time with his team in Europe has something to do with this. He looks rusty and disjointed at times. I read in other articles that he was looking to move to a team in Asia to be closer to the Philippines and to get more playing time.

I was right about De Jong. Wikipedia says that he and his club mutually terminated his contract last January. That is why he looked so rusty and disjointed. His lack of concentration might have been due to his job situation. Hopefully he can find a club soon maybe even here in Asia.
To whoever was saying that he played solid, watch the game again and see how many balls he lost. He was substituted near the end of the game bec. he did not play up to par. Del Rosario was also subbed bec. of some defensive miscues as well and to see what Jason Sabio can add to the offence. Jason ended up assisting on Phil Younghusbands goal. I attributed that to Mongolia's poor defence letting jason get to the goal without any challenge whatsoever.
