Wow it's going to be tough without Angel, James, and Sabio. I'm sure the new starters will give it their all but those are some big voids to fill in our lineup. I'm hopin for the best but it's going to be tough! Do us proud, boys! Go Philippines! I haven't shaved.

have not sleep well tonight.....last time i've felt this excitement in a football game was the final of Inter-Milan in the CL...sana maaga umalis boss para mapanood ng maayos ang laro
I think the 4-2-3-1 formation would be ideal, putting back juani at D then putting JDJ and angeles at DM then misagh-mulders-chieffy and phil up front.......or 4-3-2-1 of AC Milan back in the 5 years back where in midfield they have gattuso-pirlo-ambrosini then have Kaka and seedorf in suppory of sheva......in this kind we could use jdj-angeles-moy then mulders and chieffy(misagh) in support of phil
go azkals...kaya yan lets make the finals

trkmenistan is as strong as and plays like the tajiks, only more physical. and like the latter, the azkals can beat them!! ...i like de jong as a starter. ...chieffy will be good for 30-40 mins, its up to coach W if which side of 90" he'll play. as a starter or at the 65th min. ...phil will be closely marked. without angel and james, who looks for phil when they had the ball, there'll be a decrease of quality balls for him. but phil will still be able to create chances for himself.
lets go PINAS!!!!

i think the suspension of James and Angel will be blessing in disguise for us. they've been already a marked man same as with Phil. with the insertion of our subs, the Turks don't have really any idea on how good our reserves are. i mean, they've not scouted them well. just my 2 cents.
let's go Pilipinas!!!

From www.the-afc.com/en/tournaments/men-a-youth/afc-challenge-cup/38346-suspensions-no-setback-for-weiss : Suspensions no setback for Weiss... And when asked who would fill the void created by the absent trio, Weiss glanced over to Turkmenistan coach Yazguly Hojageldiyev and joked: "Why would I give the names of the replacements...to make the other coach happy?" -------------------------- Coach Weiss must be thinking, "Vhy you ask me the replacements? Are you normal?"

I do not see Turkmenistan as a lot different from Tajikistan in terms of tendencies, skills and susceptibility to pressure. The Azkals' surmounting fighting spirit is overwhelming and dangerously contagious to the whole team, dangerously contagious on the context of giving Turkmenistan absolute run for their money.
In my years following any sports, the will to win overpowers skills, especially when the atmosphere is "do or die". The level of Turkmenistan is simply vulnerable to the current state of unconscious momentum of the Azkals. It is only North Korea that is really very hard to beat.
Laban Azkals!

Will Azkals defy the odds? March 16, 2012 MANILA, Philippines - Former national football coach Juan Cutillas said Turkmenistan is slightly favored to beat the Philippines in the semifinals of the AFC Challenge Cup in Nepal today but he isn’t discounting the possibility of an upset because “no team in the tournament is more committed to win than the Azkals.” Cutillas, a Spanish native who has settled in Manila, said the absence of Angel Guirado and James Younghusband due to a one-game suspension for accumulating two yellow cards will be a disadvantage. Still, the Kaya F. C. coach said he’s confident the Azkals will make the adjustments to compensate. “We’ve improved tremendously,” said Cutillas. “Against Tajikistan, I thought we played poorly in the first half but our adjustments in the second half worked. Credit goes to coach (Michael) Weiss. It usually happens that when a team wins, the players get the accolades but when the team loses, the coach is to blame. Coach Weiss deserves credit for bringing us to where we are. I think our exposure to international competition has made us stronger. We’re playing regularly now, here and abroad. The quality of our game has greatly improved. We’re better organized, we’re more prepared. I also think we’ve gotten bigger and stronger. We’re more used to playing together as a team and the results are evident. ” www.philstar.com/thedeanscorner/articlescontent.aspx?articleid=787626&publicationsubcategoryid=69Some interesting observations by former national team coaches Cutillas and Caslib. It is amazing how much Cutillas views have changed from last year after seeing all the improvement made in Philippine football brought on by the interest in the Azkals. Juan Cutillas is the only remaining true God Father of Philippine football. Since the 70's, the Spanish mestizo Cutillas tried in vain to promulgate football in varsity schools. Later he need to settle to basketball as the sport that he love would not give him the livelihood that he requires. Cutillas was the conditioning coach of the legendary Toyota Comets in the PBA, he once trained Toyota star Francis Arnaiz at Ateneo as a football player. That is why Arnaiz has the move of a football player with the ball in his hands rather on his foot. Cutillas' close association with another Toyota star Robert Jaworski prompted the legendary basketball player to own a team in the National Capital Region football league in the late 80's, this is where the Jaworski Lions football team was created.
