Kaya FC coach steps down from postKarl Decena, InterAKTV · Thursday, December 6, 2012 · 3:04 pm Kaya FC coach Kale Alvarez stepped down Thursday despite decent performances of the squad in the United Football League during his time as coach. Alvarez, who used to be a member of the national team and played for the University of the Philippines football team, took over Kaya last April on an interim basis after former national football team coach Juan Cutillas resigned from the club. “I enjoyed my time as coach of Kaya FC,” Alvarez told InterAKTV. Since taking over, Alvarez steered Kaya to a runner-up finish in League competition behind champion Global, whom they tied in points but trailed in goal differential. The two squads also met in the Cup quarterfinals last November, with Kaya yielding a 2-1 loss to end its campaign early despite being considered as one of the favorites to win the tournament. Kaya FC owner Santi Araneta expressed his gratitude to Alvarez on Twitter. “I wanna thank you @kalealvarez for all that you have done for @kayafc!!!
