Kaya FC to Iloilo: Possibly the best decision www.foxsports.ph/football/asian-football/philippine-football/pfl/846212/kaya-fc-iloilo-sound-decision/A healthy rivalry could be brewing. With Iloilo City being relatively close to Bacolod, where Ceres Negros is based, and separated by a natural barrier which is the Guimaras Strait, the potential for the two clubs to become the fiercest rivals in club football could come into fruition due to the proximity of the cities they represent. Away days for fans who want to island hop to show support to their team could be possible and definitely more practical than doing it for the rest of the other competing clubs which are more far flung. We can see the potential unfold in reality come the 12th of May when Kaya hosts Ceres.

Kaya FC–Iloilo Bids Farewell to Four Players After a remarkable end to last season, the club bids goodbye to Robert Lopez Mendy, Miguel Tanton, Antonio Ugarte, and Kenshiro Daniels. January 29, 2019 News The club would like to wish all the best to Robert Lopez Mendy, Miguel Tanton, Antonio Ugarte and Kenshiro Daniels on the next chapters in their careers. Robert Lopez Mendy, who joined Kaya FC in 2016, has signed for Malaysian club UiTM FC, a club that competes in the second tier of Malaysian football. A mainstay at Kaya since 2013, Miguel Tanton has joined Ceres Negros ahead of their second campaign in the preliminary round of the AFC Champions League. Meanwhile Antonio Ugarte, who first signed for Kaya in 2012, has traveled to Panama for a new adventure in Central America. And fellow club veteran who signed in 2013 as a teenager, Kenshiro Daniels (left midway through the 2018 campaign), is looking forward to a new playing experience in the United States. www.kayafc.com/news/kaya-fc-iloilos-2021-squad-is-taking-shape/Kaya FC-Iloilo’s 2021 Squad is Taking Shape Ahead of their continental run, who can we expect to see on the pitch for Kaya this season? March 11, 2021 News With the offseason coming to a close and training camp well under way, we can already see the foundation of Kaya FC-Iloilo’s 2021 roster. With the prospect of the AFC Champions League Qualifier fast approaching, it’s time to see who will be rocking the yellow and black this year. First off, the club would like to express gratitude to the players that have decided to part ways with Kaya during the offseason. Defenders Jalsor Soriano (34) and Chy Villaseñor (26)—both played four years with the club— have chosen to enlist in the Philippine Army. They were both key members of Kaya’s backline, and the club wishes them the best in their service. Also leaving the squad after three years is defender/midfielder Mike Menzi (27). The FEU standout came through the Kaya B-Team and pushed his way into the main roster, where he showed promise in multiple positions. Lastly, forward Emmanuel Osei (28) has also decided to take his talents elsewhere after his lone season in Iloilo. He showed resilience in battling an early injury, but last year’s shortened format meant he had limited opportunities to showcase his talent in Kaya colors. The club wishes the both of them the best of luck in their next chapter. As for the players that have chosen to stay with the team, here’s what the squad looks like as of today. The competition for the goalkeeper position will be one to keep an eye on, as Louie Michael Casas (34) and Zach Banzon (24) vie to impress in between the sticks. On the defensive end, the centerback rotation remains solid. Carlyle Mitchell (33) is currently in the process of returning to the country, while Simone Rota (36), Audie Menzi (26), and Camelo Tacusalme (31) have already reported to camp. The club has also retained fullbacks Shirmar Felongco (27) and promising youngster Marco Casambre (22). Despite the departures of Soriano & Villaseñor, the backline will still have several veterans to lean on in the coming matches. Kaya’s midfield presently consists of club stalwarts Marwin Angeles (30), Arnel Amita (25), as well as Masanari Omura (36) who is currently still in Japan. Meanwhile, the club’s attacking force currently features team captain Jovin Bedic (30), spark plug Eric Giganto (26), winger Daizo Horikoshi (24), and the versatile Dylan de Bruycker (23), with the ever-dynamic Kenshiro Daniels (26) expected to report to camp soon. There’s still some time before the final roster is decided, meaning Kaya can still fill in the positions of need before things get busy in April. Whoever these reinforcements are, we’ll just have to wait and see in the coming weeks, or maybe days. www.kayafc.com/news/kaya-fc-iloilos-2021-squad-is-taking-shape/

AFC Announces Champions League Group Stage Venue The backdrop for Kaya's continental run is set, though at a later date than expected. The host countries for the AFC Champions League Group Stage were recently announced on the AFC official website. The East Region matches—including Kaya’s Preliminary and Playoff rounds—will be held at a centralized location in Thailand. Originally slated to begin as early as April 7, existing travel restrictions due to the pandemic have led the AFC to postpone said matches to a June/July start date. Regardless of the change in schedule, the club’s degree of difficulty remains the same. In order to even advance to the Group Stage, Kaya FC-Iloilo will have to win two uphill single-elimination matches back-to back: against Australia’s Brisbane Roar FC and China’s Shanghai Port, which boasts famous Brazilian attacker Oscar. Should they manage to beat the odds and proceed, Kaya will have earned their place in Group F alongside Thai champions BG Pathum United, Vietnamese champions Viettel FC, and the reigning ACL Champion from Korea Ulsan Hyundai FC. The news came somewhat as a surprise to the Kaya staff, though not an unwelcome one. For the last month, the club’s backroom have been making preparations with the initial April 7 kickoff circled on the calendar. It was a mad dash to get the squad’s training camp approved, and even now the club’s working to get their foreign-based players back into the country. With their first ticket to the highest level of Asian club football on the line, though, some extra time to prepare could boost Kaya’s chances. The AFC reschedule means the Copa Paulino Alcantara, originally slated for an April start, will likely be Kaya’s first competition this year. This means a shift in the club’s focus from continental challenges to the domestic stage for the time being. What remains unchanged, however, is Iloilo’s commitment to getting the 2021 squad together and in the best shape possible. www.kayafc.com/news/afc-announces-champions-league-group-stage-venue/

Sandro Reyes was initially part of the roster for Kaya FC in the PFL 2022 but did not play for them at the PFL's launch.
Apparently he is in Germany trying out for a Bundesliga 2 team with Azkal starter Holtmann even giving him free tickets with his Bundesliga team VFL Bochum while he is there.
