From the blog... McMenemy does not have the proper “B” coaching license to be accredited for the tournament which is strictly monitored by the AFC. “I’m working on it,” said the English coach who professed that coaching the national team was the experience of a lifetime.
A cursory search shows that the "B" coaching license can be obtained after 90-120 hrs of training. So McMenemy can get the license quickly depending on the timing of a course he can find somewhere around the world. Perhaps even before Feb 9, but of course that would mean he would be in class instead of coaching the team. Reading the blog piece it would be difficult to turn down The Germans' offer of a FREE (salary) coach for the still cash-strapped PFF. Couple this with McMenemy's missing credential and it's easy to see where this is going for the upcoming AFC Challenge Cup. What's uncertain is whether McMenemy will be ready in time for the World Cup qualifiers (exciting! ) in late June and whether PFF will still want him at that time especially if the Azkals do very well in the Challenge Cup. Here's a possible scenario: We get Weiss as the coach and the Azkals win the Challenge Cup! Do we keep Weiss or go back to McMenemy for the World Cup qualifiers?

that scenario would be great. yes we keep Weiss for the WC qualifying. but for that scenario to be true it means that we have beaten North korea which is a big deal[not impossible though] to me.
what i've read is that simon is being ask to coach the U-19 team, which i hope he considers.
whatever happens though, let us trust and supports mr. palami and NT management whatever their decision is

This is a learning experience for everybody. Dan Palami makes big time mistakes too, it looks like. He should be whipped for handling the situation like that.
Everybody knows that Mr. McMenemy deserves better than this kind of treatment. No phone call. NO personal message. Then a public annoucement on TV. Utter disrespect, but a part of me believes that inexperience played a role.
File this under "lessons learned."

I guess the Vietnames/Indonesian clubs who are trying to get coach simon are elated with this news?

More news on the coaching switch. www.abs-cbnnews.com/sports/01/08/11/mcmenemy-out-azkals-coachI really don't want to bite the hand that feeds me but... what's in it for Germany? Apparently all this help is free. If there's really nothing in it for them then hey, thank you! High fives all around! My next Pale Pilsen is dedicated to German Football.

This is not the first time the Germans did this for us. They lent us a coach back in the late 80's or early 90's Bernard Zgoll who not only coached the team but wrote a development plan at the grassroots level. We weren't ready then as lack of public interest, corporate supports and political will hindered his efforts.
Now with the massive interest our Azkals have engendered, we might benefit more from their help.
Apparently ever since we started scouting players from Europe esp. German players, they have taken an interest in our affairs with articles being written often about Philippine team looking for players and even acc. to Mr. Weiler at one time there were even more articles being written over there about Philippine football than locally.
I got the impression that the DFB(German federation) wanted to help us even earlier but did not want to deal with Mari Martinez so they waited for a change of leadership to offer help. They were also impressed by Mr. Palami's professionalism and the Azkal's performance in the Suzuki cup.
All I can say is even though it is not the politically correct thing to say in Germany nowadays is "Deutschland Uber Alles".

Why does he keep on saying azkals? Is it the players fault that he didnt get his things yet? He first came out with this on twitter. It seems twitter is the choice of communication of our former coach. If he had used PFF like he should have instead of AZKALS he would have had 3 more characters to get his message across. Im with you Mike. When I first read the twitter and saw him blaming the AZKALS I thought . . . what involvement do the players have in sending McMenemy's stuff to him? Seems he doesn't understand the difference between the PFF and the AZKALS.

Twitter shouts to the world. And the Azkals have a louder bark than the PFF.
