yes, it's a heartbreaking setback. . . Malditas lost to a better team. . . This mean goodbye Asian Cup, goodbye World Cup. . . better luck next time which is 4 years from now, the time when most of these girls no longer play football. . Sayang talaga .

No attacking other members, everyone. limbo99, let me explain why you've upset some people. First of all, you made a fair point here: no, Thailand was the best team over the whole game. More Goal shots More corners More Ball possesion. It's a good observation. No one can argue with you there. BUT unfortunately that great post had nothing to do with this one: Not even 25 Us Girls can bring the Philipines to the Asian Cup Next time maybe 25 Chinese Girls for the Philipines??? At least as far as the stand of this forum is concerned, every one of the Philippine National Team players are Filipino. It doesn't matter where they come from. The circumstances don't matter either. They're FIFA-eligible, they're representing us, period. Pointing out where they were raised with the purpose of demeaning them, not to mention kicking them while they are down, is frowned upon here. The build-up to this competition was well-documented here too. These girls worked hard to prepare for this and it showed. Making it to the Asian Cup, in the end, might not even matter. The leap in improvement is notable. And believe it or not, Thailand did have a tougher time than they thought they would. I apologize if you were called names by other members or if the forum rules were unclear. "Azkals" = "Malditas" and it will be brought up to admin for editing.

Yeah, I was elated upon hearing we scored only to be crushed when it was disallowed. These ladies need to be having more games, more friendlies, it's so easy to get behind this team and feel for them. They still have a remote chance though. Here's hoping! But they have to do their part. They have to absolutely destroy the Bangladesh team.

You don’t think the US does not produce talented players ? What are you saying? Believe me when a say maybe not this time around but for sure next time. We are also playing for one team and one flag.

no, Thailand was the best team over the whole game. More Goal shots More corners More Ball possesion. Obviously, your ignorant about soccer. The Fil-Am players have only been together for what 3 weeks. Thailand for what 8-10 yrs, since they were U14. They have almost a decade of playing together. Yet, 3 weeks of Fil-Am players training together only lost to the 29th rank team in the world 0-1. If you gave the Fil-Am player 8-10 yrs of playing together. The 0-1 loss would be more like a 3-0 win for the Philippines. It all starts at youth national team level, so the Philippines should start integrating the Fil-Am players at U14. Then you will see what they can really accomplish a decade from now.

Those are not the only Fil-Am players, there are a lot more U14-16 Fil-Am players with the same playing trajectory as the Sr players.

Based on some of their tweets, the team took the loss hard but are slowly picking themselves up.

Read a clarification on the "Disallowed" goal. The ball just never went in. To many spectators it looked like it did but it didn't. I don't quite know how that happened but that's the way it is, apparently.

Not even 25 Us Girls can bring the Philipines to the Asian Cup Next time maybe 25 Chinese Girls for the Philipines??? I don't get your cynicism. Are you only proud of the Filipinos when they win? How about this, what solution can you offer that can guarantee a win? If you don't have anything then I suggest be a little more positive. These girls travelled too far and trained too hard to be mocked by the likes of you. Have a sense of pride. Ryan

I am so proud of this team. They went toe to toe with the number 29 team in the world. A team that was 55 spots ahead of them in the FIFA rankings. They demolished Iran who were 31 spots ahead of them in the rankings. They did not succeed in their primary goal of winning the group. They did achieve a secondary goal of earning respect in the AFC and at home. For years they have not entered Olympic or AFC qualifiers. It was considered a waste of time and money to send them out to get whipped by 10 goals.People said they did not deserve support because they weren't any good. In their last 3 games, 13 goals for, 3 against. (not including the Viking Cup). People said some day in the distant future they would be at the same level as the Azkals but for now they didn't deserve Puma gear. They have blown past the Azkals. Can you imagine how many goals they would score against the likes of Guam or Mongolia? There are no longer just 3 teams at the top of the AFF and Thailand knows it. Now I am sure they will get invitations for friendlies against teams preparing for the next round and I hope the PFF gives them the funding to get more international experience. And finally, if you are going to comment on where players were born, get it right. There was an Australian and a Canadian born player starting for the Malditas.

The stats can be deceiving while they may have more shots on goal I think Malditas have better chances on goal. Coach Ernie mentioned, our players just wasn't able to capitalize on our chances on goal. I bet if we play this Thai team on any given day we can beat team. The lone goal looks to be an offside too from a video I've seen. Its not as definite though as the video did not capture the Thai's position when the pass was made. Nonetheless the second half was clearly dominated by the Philippines. Thailand resorting to time wasting and fouls/cards means they are fighting to keep their lead. Accordingly Shugg has been well marked by the Thais even triple marked. Despite that she was able to have her chances but unluckily she was not able to convert them in this game. A good striking partner will make life easier for here making the team more deadlier. Just like other teams zero in on Phil Younghusband. The arrival of an equally talented goal scorer in Javier Patiño makes the Azkals even tougher for our opposing teams. I see this as one way of solving other team's tactics against Jesse Shug. This is where I think the lack of International exposure may have done as no good. But as coach Ernie said, funding was the main problem of them not having any international friendly. Add that to the fact that some of the ladies are still studying.
The Thai's may be missing Kanjana but I think even with her this batch of Malditas can beat them. And mind you this is not even the best team we can assemble. If only they can advance to the final round of qualification we would have seen the best team we can have. The sad part is as good as this team is they might not be able fight for a spot on the next World Cup as most of them may not be playing competitive football beyond 2015. Unless the women's team gets good support, keeping the same team beyond 2015 may be a tough ask. So we are most likely counting on the youth team to carry on with the task. Personally, if only we can assemble all those that are eligible to form our best team, reaching the World Cup in Canada is very much possible. But that's water under the bridge now.
I'm thinking most teams who will qualify for the final qualifying will want to have a friendly with the Malditas. Heck even the top four teams who have qualified automatically will want to play against the Malditas. I'm a believer that if the Women's team gets better support and funding they will achieve greater things than their male counterpart. By the looks of it, the women's team composition is much like the Azkals, so to me Lady Azkals is a fitting name for them. My half cent.ü
