it's a tough loss for our girls who gave the Thais a hard fought game. the Thai's lone goal looks offside but even the linesman caught off of his foot. he/she was behind from the Thai goal scorer and the Filipina defender when the long-ball was made so it was difficult for him/her to see it

I am so proud of this team. They went toe to toe with the number 29 team in the world. A team that was 55 spots ahead of them in the FIFA rankings. They demolished Iran who were 31 spots ahead of them in the rankings. They did not succeed in their primary goal of winning the group. They did achieve a secondary goal of earning respect in the AFC and at home. For years they have not entered Olympic or AFC qualifiers. It was considered a waste of time and money to send them out to get whipped by 10 goals.People said they did not deserve support because they weren't any good. In their last 3 games, 13 goals for, 3 against. (not including the Viking Cup). People said some day in the distant future they would be at the same level as the Azkals but for now they didn't deserve Puma gear. I would like to first congratulate the team for a great fight. Their results are certainly improving and that is heartening but I would like to point out in response to the above post that not everything that has been done --- or in certain instances NOT done --- for this team is a direct insult to them. Many, if not all, national teams are underfunded and don't get the support they deserve, , the Malditas do not have an exclusive on that situation. I know many teams/individuals who have funded themselves at some point or another. Just because the malditas were not funded doesn't necessarily mean it was because the powers-that-be thought it "a waste of time". And just because they weren't sponsored by a certain brand doesn't mean they were thought to be undeserving. Sometimes the money just isn't there. I cannot say I always agree with how local sports federations partition their funding but I hardly think it is a conspiracy against this particular team. It is just a way of life for a Filipino athlete. The malditas are fortunate in that their coach, like the Azkals' Coach Palami before them, took a personal interest in them and that is something to be commended and applauded. That said, I would also like to give some food for thought about how things were handled off the field during this competition. Specifically the display of negativity over the hotel they were staying in (the same hotel Thailand was staying in), and certain comments over regular media and social media implying that it was done to purposely humble and discourage the team were uncalled for. The players were also all over social media about how bad it was. Having played for the country as well, I am aware of how unsuitable some competition arrangements can be, but right or wrong that is standard fare for athletes competing in Asia! The players are of course entitled to think and feel what they want, and I am sure they had cause to complain, but it is not appropriate to be making these comments public over socialmedia. A certain amount of diplomacy is expected of people representing the country in international competitions. Complaints and arrangements can be made quietly without having to broadcast them in news columns and over twitter and facebook. In this situation the coach should have set the example. As for on the field action I congratulate the team for beating Iran and for their great effort against Thailand and wish them good luck for the future.

I don’t think it was Negative, IMO it was distraction for any teams traveling. The AFC should have a higher standard than that. You should know that if you travel before. The focus should only be the tournament. IMO this a good thing, maybe the AFC will have better standard in the future. Thank you for addressing the problem cause if nobody did, there will be no chance for change.

I believe the PFF bid to host the tournament. From what I have seen, our Asian neighbors can provide stadia that are of superior quality to that available in the Philippines. I realize that in a democratic country, governments need to spend money on services that benefit the majority of the population. Sometimes it does not make sense to spend millions of dollars on a facility that will sit empty most of the time. If we want to host major events we have to make sure that our facilities meet AFC specifications. However, countries putting in a bid should also have to be able to provide accomodations suitable for international calibre athletes. it appears that the Bengalis bid was deficient in that regard. My deepest sympathy to the Bengalis for the recent tragedy with the building collapse and their courageous efforts in looking for survivors. However, it appears that they should not have been picked to host this tournament.

.... However, countries putting in a bid should also have to be able to provide accomodations suitable for international calibre athletes..... However, it appears that they should not have been picked to host this tournament. You might be surprised to know that unsuitable accomodations are provided even by the bigger countries sometimes. I will say again, as I did in my earlier post, that I am sure the team had cause to complain. It might be a good thing for the AFC to review their standards. My point is that there is no need to make such complaints public on regular media/social media during an international competition while one is representing the country. Arrangements can be made amongst the parties concerned and if there is true cause for a formal complaint then that should be done through proper channels to the AFC, not through newspapers, twitter and facebook.

Can you imagine how many goals they would score against the likes of Guam or Mongolia? There are no longer just 3 teams at the top of the AFF and Thailand knows it. Now I am sure they will get invitations for friendlies against teams preparing for the next round and I hope the PFF gives them the funding to get more international experience. And finally, if you are going to comment on where players were born, get it right. There was an Australian and a Canadian born player starting for the Malditas. Well said!!!And as for the birthplace, they are as Filipina as they are as Americans, Australians or Canadians as they can be. Football is a universal game and FIFA shuns racism of any form and imposes heavy penalty for it. The future looks so bright for the Malditas!!!

Racist, are you stupid??? I`ve only said, that the US girls aren`t as good as they may pretend, if they cannot win against Thailand Pretend? Really? Calling out the girls and saying they aren't as good as they pretend, is a direct insult to them. Who said they are pretending to be anything but themselves? You don't even know any of these girls. Sure, bring out game stats and such but don't insult the girls. They just want to play the game.

Your Malditas can still stand and walk tall despite their narrow defeat to Thailand. Even if some had expected the Thais to win, they did not expect such great fight that the Malditas put up to the Thai team.
I won't be surprise one fine day we shall see the Malditas in World Cup finals action. Soccer is an unpredictable sport, but with sheer determination, dedication and committed to the goal, everything is possible when you put your mind soul and body into it and work hard to fulfill the goal set out.
Your women football has great potential to excel on international stage. Your faith to continue to believe in them and your support to stand by them is equally important to help them fulfill the goal that had been set out. Your support to the team is utmost important cos with your support, it gives them the extra edge to believe among themselves that they are capable and good enough to be alongside the best on international stage.
Stand by her, stand by your Malditas.
Thank you and Salamat.
