In this tough group, the road to the next round goes through the Philippines. Bahrain and NoKor dropped points to us. The only team that didnt drop any point is the Uzbek. That is not to shavvy imho. We all know how good they are. I wont consider the 5-1 trashing we got from them a real guage of our capability. I think we are way better than that. The second game against them, we got a hot keeper and he carried us through. I think overall, this qualifier have benefitted us. Hoping we continue to play against better opposition. Ive said it all along, no more Guam, Laos friendlies. Its time to play the bigger boys of Asia. Anyone from 8-15 in Asia is fair game and we have a chance.

PFF should schedule friendlies with Asian Powerhouses. South Korea would be good. Pinoys love South Koreans and there are lots of South Koreans here that in Manila so a packed stadium might be expected. Also kuwait, we still havent avenged our 5-1 loss during the world cup qualifiers. If they will have a training camp in the middle east, there would be lots and lots of options.

if the draw will based from todays fifa ranking then pot should look like this
Pot 1
Jordan (82) Nokor (94) Oman (97) Kyrgyztan (105) Turkmenistan (113) Palestine (115)
Pot 2 Bahrain (132) Kuwait (133) Philippines (135) Hongkong (139) Lebanon (145) Vietnam (146)
Pot 3 Singapore Afghanistan Myanmar Guam
so lets hope azkals will have friendlies this year in order for us to stay at POT 2 or possibly POT 1 to avoid a group of death

I hope that our success (i consider this it a success) in the World Cup qualifier will open more possibilities for us to play friendlies with teams of the higher tier. Looking forward to see the Philippines play against SoKor, Japan, Aus etc. I do hope that Uzbekistan will consider playing a friendly with us since we had a good result against a team at their level

If we get to Pot1 then I'd say the chances would be good to very good. What would it take to get there? Get a ranking better than Palestine by the time of the draw. That is, if FIFA rankings will be used for the draw. Qualification is still in progress for other teams to make the rest of the third round, which means there's still a few months to work on the ranking. PFF -- you need to schedule games to get the best ranking between now and the drawing. Schedule the games now. Get friendlies with higher ranked teams and win or tie.

Next to the country list above, I put in bold the possible # points which is used for the ranking. You can see that the Philippines, with a possible 300 points, has a good chance of going to Pot 1. Let's hope it happens!

Pardon me for my ignorance but what will happen if we make it to pot 1? It means after the draw you will avoid being grouped with the other strong teams from Pot 1 and will be facing weaker teams from the other pots.

Actually only 3 teams from Second round will be eliminated .

We know we're not moving forward to the next round of World Cup qualifiers but we were one of the teams that shines in the qualifiers. Here's from FIFA website.
The match Philippines 3-2 Korea DPR Goals: Misagh Bahadoran 43, Manuel Ott 84, Iain Ramsay 90; So Kyong Jin 45+2, Ri Hyok Chol 48 Philippines from Group H, under American Thomas Dooley, produced one of the matchday's biggest surprises by overcoming South Africa 2010 finalists Korea DPR 3-2, fulfilling the former USA captain's promise of defeating the Chollima at home. In what proved to be a seesaw-battle, the hosts, who came away with an unlikely goalless draw in Pyongyang, came from behind to see off a side 44 places above them in the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking. While the result did little to help the Razkals’ qualification, it did contribute in shattering the visitors' hopes of a place in the last 12. Desperately needing points to secure progression, Korea DPR pressed hard from the outset. It was, however, the home side that took the lead in surprising fashion, Misagh Bahadoran heading home to complete a move initiated by Javier Patino two minutes from the break. So Kyong-Jin soon drew the scoreline level before Ri Hyok-Chol put the visitors ahead shortly after the restart. The game looking destined for victory in the visitors’ favour, however, the home side staged a strong comeback with a two quick-fire goals from Manuel Ott and Iain Ramsay sealing a memorable victory for the tournament debutants. In another match in the group, having seen their progression confirmed by Korea DPR's loss, Uzbekistan went on to win 1-0 over Bahrain at home. www.fifa.com/worldcup/news/y=2016/m=3/news=seven-progress-to-complete-asia-s-last-12-line-up-2772980.html
Philippines Long regarded one of southeast Asia’s weaker football nations, Philippines have well and truly shrugged off that tag in recent years. Firstly under German mentor Michael Weiss, and more recently under former USA captain Thomas Dooley, the Azkals are now capable of providing stiff opposition to any team on the continent. That new found resolve was in evidence on Tuesday as the Philippines completed an eleventh-hour 3-2 comeback win over 2010 World Cup participants Korea DPR, a team normally renowned for their defensive steadfastness. The result was doubly significant given victory for Korea DPR would have been enough for the Chollima to stay in the race for Russia 2018, at the expense of neighbours China. Historically, Philippines have rarely participated in World Cup qualifying, and remarkably they didn’t feature as recently as the campaign for South Africa 2010. But their new-look team, which includes numerous players with overseas experience, won three of their eight matches, dramatically improving on a previous record of one win from 13 previous outings. www.fifa.com/worldcup/news/y=2016/m=3/news=new-names-making-waves-in-asia-2773544.html
And many more from different sports website around the planet. I really hope we'll maintain our momentum and stellar performance and be one of the best teams in Asia in the future.
