Hey jonny, is it true that Roland Muller has also retired from the national team as is stated in your blog? this is a big loss for the team. Neil Etheridge will be there for the game against Nepal, but Roland would have been a great backup in case something happens to Neil.

Why Stephan Palla was not selected? Yes, that is a good question ! He has been in the starting XI for his Austrian club which is in the top league in Austria. He played last league match so he is not injured. I am afraid he also has chosen to retire from the National Team ? Can we ask Coach Dooley directly why the PFF did not call-up Stephan Palla into the team? Or can we ask Stephan Palla directly?

He is very young (29 years old) for a goalkeeper to retire (thinking about Buffon). Is Coach Dooley the reason why Stephan Palla, Shrockey and Muller decided to retire early? I'm wishing for temporary retirement only.

Under Dooley's term that has the most number of retirement either due to age, personal matters but most notable is the number of players who quit due to unknown circumstances. Neil and Schrock almost did. Cagara for good. Now Palla and Muller? Sources say Schrock begged off due to his wife giving birth but we still don't know what's going on behind the scenes.

I have the same feeling. We all know that Mulders and Lucena retired because of age concerns. Shrock had issues with Dooley before (2014 AFC Challenge Cup Final) that is why he decided to retire temporarily. Same with Cagara, he was allegedly dump in favor Sato. I think Cagara or Sato can play other positions aside from LB. Stephan Palla - problem with Coach Dooley (just suspecting), I mean Stephan Palla is a regular for his Austrian Bundesliga Club, why he didn't received a call-up? despite the international window. Muller - Family reasons but I'm suspecting it is beyond family reasons. Although he is a starter at Ceres-Negros (same with Deyto at Global Cebu), the team is only playing competitively for 3 games (AFC Cup). The PFF and Mr. Dan Palami need to sort this out otherwise the chances of potential overseas young talent joining the Azkals will decrease. This young players need to have a team-mate(s) who shared the same language (Germans, spanish etc.).

The team always has these retirement issues after every tournament loss. If a number of players aren't seeing good in continuing their national team careers because of the coach, PFF should sit everyone down, talk it out and not let the coach discredit the players' hardwork (and vice versa). Schrock wasn't 100% fit when they played in the semis and final matches of the Challenge Cup but he did his best. Same with Muller last December.

As I've said in Muller's profile thread with all due respect to his great service to our national team I think his announcement of international retirement is not in a good timing. With all the buildup of excitement after a long wait finally the day has come for the azkals' first match of the year. Suddenly this news?! The hype of the upcoming matches was turned into shock and sadness among the fans. I don't know how it will affect the team's morale either they play lethargic or inspired that we have to see.

Coming straight from Schrock himself. He wasn't called up. Is this Dooley saga part 2?

Starting XI: Etheridge, Munoz, Ramsay, Manu Ott, Bahadoran, PYH, Sato, Amani, Villanueva, Ingreso, Patino. (from @cedelfptinq)
Carli is listed as not playing. Seems likely Villanueva and Aguinaldo at central defence.

No highlights from close angles. I think PYH deserves to get a penalty earlier.
HT: Phil 0 Malaysia 0
It's a lethargic 1st half for us. We played well in the first few minutes of the match but we can't seem to sustain and make the most out of our chances. What happened to Casambre? This is the type of game he should be playing.

And just like the previous results against Malaysia, the match ended with a goalless draw. I don't know what's lacking with us, but it's better to have a bad game in a friendly match than the important one, so I expect the Azkals to come out strong against Nepal next week.

Who is the analyst with Bob Guerrero?
maybe he knows something we don't know cause he talks like that Malaysian Squad are minnows of SEA football talking like the Azkals can tear that team up.. Malaysian football is equal if not better than our current Azkals so a draw was a good result for a very unprepared squad which played there 1st friendly of the year..
Or maybe he was just disappointed on how the azkals play the same type of football..

Decent game although I would think that both teams played a very 'friendly' friendly. Quite a scare for Amani. Minegishi is a good player but sometimes he's not where he's supposed to be.
