Azkals to face powerhouse China in friendly 0 BY JAELLE NEVIN REYES ON APRIL 25, 2017 FOOTBALL TIMES The Philippine men’s football team will be facing Asian powerhouse China in a friendly match on June 7, according to Azkals team manager Dan Palami. The exhibition match is part of the team’s preparation for the Asian Cup third round qualification match against Tajikistan on June 13 at the Pamir Stadium in Dushanbe. “We’ll prepare for that and hopefully we get the new players that we want as well,” Palami said. The Philippines will try to ride on the momentum it generated in its 4-1 trashing of Nepal last March at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium in Manila. The Azkals, with three points, are currently tied with Yemen but hold a narrow a two-point advantage on goal difference to take the pole position in Group F. Meanwhile, Palami revealed that they are eyeing the services of two new foreign-based recruits to be part of their roster for the Asian Cup qualifiers. Palami did not identify the players but online reports are pointing to Filipino-German Raphael Obermair and Filipino-Swedish Jesper Nyholm as possible additions to the Azkals roster. Obermair, 21, plays as a right wing striker for German Bayern Munich FC’s second team while Nyholm, 23, is a center back out of AIK Fotboll in the Swedish first division. “One of them is already in the lineup of a strong team in the Bundesliga. The other one, unfortunately, the national team of the other country took interest in him. So, he will try that first and maybe come back to us if its not successful,” said Palami. www.manilatimes.net/azkals-face-powerhouse-china-friendly/324039/

Or build a football field on the disputed islands. and call it Spratlys Derby. Kiddin' aside, this'll be a great tune-up game for the Azkals.

I'll only believe the game will happen once it already happened.
I'm sorry for the negativity, but we've seen lots of planned friendlies that have been cancelled.

Speaking of Javier Patiño, He recently got his leg injured and has to fly back to Spain for treatment, looks like a major injury for him. hoping he'll get through this.
While Simone Rota is cleared to play again by his doctors,In Ceres-Negros game againt Hanoi FC he already join them during the warm up and was in uniform but was unused sub. While Patrick Reichelt will probably be cleared to play by early June.

Philippines to Face China PR on June 7 The Philippine Men’s National Team is scheduled to face the national team of China PR on 7 June 2017. PFF general secretary Atty. Edwin Gastanes announced last 22 May the details of the friendly which will be played in Guangzhou, China. The friendly will be the first meeting between the Philippines and China PR since the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers in the year 2000. China PR won that match 8-0. “We will have an international friendly between China PR and Philippines on 7 June,” said Gastanes. “We will now talk to the PFL clubs to explore the possibility of release of players for national team duties earlier than 5 June 2017.” The match will serve as build up for the Philippines’ AFC Asian Cup Jordan 2019 Qualifiers match against Tajikistan which will be held on 13 June 2017 in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. The Philippines’ current rank is at 127th while China PR is at 81st. The list of players called up for the forthcoming matches will be announced shortly. pff.org.ph/2017/05/24/philippines-to-face-china-pr-on-june-7/

This is the time where you stop the recruiting, and use the PFL players you have. Where is Deyto and O'Donnell? Give your PFL players International experience. You saw the progress in the Suzuki Cup. Keep the momentum going.

it doesn't hurt to try to recruit Areola. Areola is a world class GK. Although Deyto has some international experience through club and Suzuki cup, I don't think he is ready to face teams like China. Deyto is currently taking heat for giving up goals that causes Global to lose some points for the PFL season. But from the roster selection, Deyto would probably be the quick fix for the GK situation but not long term unless he ups his game.

Keep the momentum going. Deyto was already given the chance. He is definitely good but is too young and inexperienced. But with time, he'll definitely be great and hopes he continue improving. And I hope the same thing will happen to O'Donell. But Areola, is a high quality player. We can't pass on him and will attempt to have him play with our NT anytime given the chance. But at the of the day, it's the coach's decision who to choose and thinks deserves to be number 1 every match.

There are rumours that Conte wants Areola to backup for Courtois. I doubt he'll switch his allegiance to the Azkals. Lloris and Mandanda are in their 30s and Costil is 29. Areola is probably the best of France's GK prospects and for him, waiting for a full international debut will always be worthwhile.

This is a important tune up game for the match against Tajikistan. I hope we can avoid unnecessary injuries. As for our GK issue, Deyto should step up his game and prove us all wrong.

So much for the unnecessary injuries... James and Sato subbed off early which looked like injuries. And Misagh looks like will be out for a long time...
