can't wait to get past sri lanka and face kuwait. is that the highest profile team we're playing over the last decade? Yeah i think so. All the decent teams in Asia we faced in last 3 decades are Philippines 0 - 2 China (1982) Philippines 1 - 7 Iran (1984) Philippines 0 - 2 Syria (1984) Philippines 0 - 7 China (1996) Philippines 0 - 5 Qatar (1996) Philippines 0 - 8 China (2000) Philippines 0 - 3 Lebanon (2001) Philippines 0 - 12 Syria (2001) Philippines 1 - 5 Syria (2001) Philippines 0 - 7 Oman (2001) Philippines 0 - 2 Oman (2001) BTW, i found an interesting thing. Since 1913 when we had first international match against China, it seems we have played only 1 non-Asian team for nearly 100 years. It was vs Estonia in 1997, a friendly game at home where we lost 0-1. Correct me if i'm wrong.

I remember watching that game vs Estonia, i think I was watching it on PTV 4...Estonia in blue jersey, I can't recall our color. Good to find out how we ended up playing a friendly with a relatively obscure Eastern European team then. We might consider having a rematch with them this year.

We would definitely see a clearer picture of the kind of Sri Lankan team we'll be facing once we see them in action in their AFC Challenge Cup Group Qualifying match. I'm sure the coaching staff will exert every effort to see the Sri Lankans in action (whether in person or through video coverage) so we can better prepare for them.
I'm reserving judgment on our opponents despite their ranking. Palestine gave us such a tough time despite being the lowest ranked team in the AFC Qualifying stages held last week.

It's the FIFA's call on which venue to be played.

But yes, let them be definite with all details of the home match very early, time schedule, tickets, tv coverage, etc.

I'm sure mapupuno din natin yun! ;D ;Dthe last time kasi napuno ang rizal (when used to host football games)was almost 2 deades ago, 1991 sea games,n but i'm pretty much confident that with the renewed interest in football, kaya punuin ang rizal football stadium ngaun , just having the thought of watching the azkals live & in front of a huge crowd gives me goosebumps already , so i really do hope that the pff would give rizal football stadium a shot .... ;D

Sorry I'm late, just found out the draw results. Very interesting. A good gauge is a relatively recent common foe, Tajikistan. We drew against them and nearly won on a terribly puddle-ridden pitch in Barotac Nuevo in 2008. Sri Lanka drew against them too in a recent friendly. Although FIFA ranking suggests otherwise, I think it's a pretty even match. Of course, that was a different Azkals team in 2008. So, as I said earlier, very interesting. We do have some advantages, I guess. This'll be a great one to watch.

What excites me more is the roster of our NT for the WC Qualifiers... Cagara, Schrock?
I heard Schrock was commited to play... how about Cagara?

We played Australia October 1972 and lost 0-6 Back then AFC and OFC shared a WC qualifying spot and Australia is now a part of AFC after all, so yeah And it seems we played Israel as well in 1970's, who back then was a part of AFC.
