I was actually expecting a far greater loss margin than 4-0, considering it was 3-0 a the half? (I may be wrong on that). Oh well, looking forward to the Azkals' next match. After several relatively successive matches this dead time is killing me. Haha

It looks like NK brought mostly young, unexperienced players, only 3 of whom were listed on the 23-men squad in last year's World Cup. However it seems they were too much for the Sri Lankans nonetheless, grabbing early big lead, 3-0, in just 22 minutes.
BTW, so the Azkals are planning to have a training camp at a Middle East country right? I heard it's gonna begin somewhere June, and if it goes as planned i'm pretty sure we will have practice matches against some local club teams there. But i wonder if Weiss/Palami are considering having some friendly/tune-up matches before that. I hope they are though.

;Dso regardless of being a filipino, who do you think wins? azkals or sri-lanka? ;D IMHO as far as we've been informed, if we faced them with the AFF Cup 2010 squad and its form, i think it would be a 5-3-2 chance for us. Win-Draw-Lose. Bet on the Azkals, but not big money.. kind of. But yes a better team is coming at least in terms of individual profiles. Let's just wait and see first if every possible Azkals will join as expected in good form and health. Plus if Mr. Weiss the conductor can make a beautiful harmony with these instruments, well then i think it's safe to reserve a plane ticket for Kuwait. So this is my honest opinion as a football fan. However, as a Azkals fan, i think we should stay with 'underdog spirit', or you might want to call it 'hungry dog spirit', no matter what opponent we are facing. It's just too early for us to look down on any opponents. Although the Sri Lankans look less dangerous individually than us, they can probably bring a better organized team since most of their players are homegrown and they've been training together. So, in a hungry askal mode, i'd just say 50-50 chance.

Acc. to this article, they played 7 players from their World Cup stint against Sri Lanka: www.myrepublica.com/portal/index.php?action=news_details&news_id=30093DPR Korea, who claimed to have only three players from their FIFA World Cup 2010 squad during a press conference on Wednesday, fielded seven players from the World Cup squad against Sri Lanka on Thursday. They are certain to field their full strength team against hosts Nepal on Saturday. _______________________________________ I think as long as we prepare properly against Sri Lanka and not be complacent or underestimate the opponent, we should win handily against them by the same margin in terms of play that we had against Bangladesh.

I just checked their roster and indeed they have 7 players who were listed on the WC 23-men entry, and out of those 7, only 3 players seem to have actually played in the WC. So i think NK coach must've meant it. Anyway, they still look mostly early-20's players and can't find any of those key players such as Jong Taese, Ryang Yonggi, An Yonghak and Hong Yongjo.

Sri Lanka 0 - 4 North Korea Sri Lanka 0 - 1 Afghanistan Sri Lanka 0 - 0 Nepal
So they ended up goalless, 4th of the group.

Nepal couldn't perform its best game but managed to book its tickets for the final round of AFC Challenge Cup 2012 by playing a dire 0-0 show with Sri Lanka at Dasrath Stadium on Monday. With Anil Gurung, Rohit Chand available in the playing set after recovering from the injury, Coach Graham opted 4-3-3 formation from the start.
Nepal dominated the ball possession but it was lanky defenders who played well to block Nepalese strikers.
Anil Gurung was targeted twice by the Sri Lankan defenders and he was forced to leave the ground due to face injury.
However, Nepal needed a draw to qualify for the final round, which they did playing defensive game in the wee hours.
Nepal collected four points from three matches to join the elite group with DPR Korea from Group D. --------------------------------------------------------------------------
looks like our Strikers must be ready for a tough and rough time against Sri lankan Defenders...
