Sorry I'm late, just found out the draw results. Very interesting. A good gauge is a relatively recent common foe, Tajikistan. We drew against them and nearly won on a terribly puddle-ridden pitch in Barotac Nuevo in 2008. Sri Lanka drew against them too in a recent friendly. Although FIFA ranking suggests otherwise, I think it's a pretty even match. Of course, that was a different Azkals team in 2008. So, as I said earlier, very interesting. We do have some advantages, I guess. This'll be a great one to watch. the tajikistan match was played at iloilo city, not barotac nuevo. the tajiks were technically superior then, many thanks to the muddy pitch, the azkals managed to eke out a draw. but we have a vastly improved team now compared to the 2008 NT and with the continued scouting going on, the azkals could only get better.

It's the FIFA's call on which venue to be played. What was renovated? Is it only the pitch (sana manicured lawn) or the whole stadium including the lights, seats the track oval and facilities.

Is it only the pitch (sana manicured lawn) or the whole stadium including the lights, seats the track oval and facilities. Only the pitch and as of 3 weeks ago when I was there, it was a bare pitch-- no line or markers yet. It was cordoned off as they are allowing the grass to mature more. But the pitch should be more than ready in July. But can the PFF or PSC get another sponsor to install adequate lights? I also have doubts if Rizal has enough toilets for a 20,000 crowd. If we hold the match there, by halftime the whole place will smell like a stink hole. The main grandstand can seat about 4T to 5T, yet on that side of the venue there are less than 10 urinals for men and lesser number of toilet seats. There are 2 comfort rooms for women and we can assume there are same number of toilet seats. More than the pitch, other concerns should be addressed when we pick a venue.

i want sa rizal kasi i want na may chance din ang mga taga dito na makapanood live. and if we want the sport of football to grow dapat targetin natin ang lugar na di naman ito ang main sport. hence dito nga sa maynila, kasi wala gaanong support sa sport na to as compared sa vis/min when this sport wasn't noticed yet. and don't under-estimate the sense of nationalism ng mga pinoys. if they just see their countrymen united, they will surely feel proud and would want to be part of that.
sa panaad naman gusto ko rin. kasi it's a way of giving back to their huge support for this sport for so long. sinuwerte na tayo dito, so let's not ruin the flow. superstition nga lang, pero wala namang mawawala if you follow certain superstitious beliefs eh. tulong sa economy sa provinces, kasi puro na lang maynila/luzon. isipin niyo kasi kalagayan ng iba at huwag lang yung sa atin dito. buong bayan luzon/vis/min nagbabayad ng buwis pero tayo lang naman nakikinabang sa mga lrt/mrt, etc etc projects dito eh. and the people in the provinces are in reality OFW's in their own country kasi lahat ng job, business opportunities dito tinambak sa manila/luzon hence they have no resort but to go here. ang dapat sana is they spread these companies para lahat may opportunity.

Oh was it Iloilo? My mistake then, thanks for the correction. I agree that we're better now but we had a tough time against a physically larger Palestinian team. So I'm wary about Sri Lanka. If we win the away game though I'm very confident we'll advance to the next round. A nil-nil draw would make for an exciting home game though.

^ Though a nil-nil draw at away wouldn't be the worst situation, it will give us some pressure at home that we must not concede a goal, considering the away goal rule. 1-1 or 2-2 draw at away would be fine enough, second to winning of course.

No free seating for home game. I believe, financially speaking, that it's the right choice. But the cheap seats had better be really really cheap if we want to fill the stadium. On the other end, great seats would probably be really really expensive. www.aseanfootball.org/?p=4475

And Mizuno had better have the new kits available to the public before then. With lots and lots of stock.

why not try Joaquin F. Enriquez Memorial Stadium? this stadium can hold around 40,000+ people.
