1.Our best goalkeeper:
- Neil Etheridge (no contest, hands down, if Big Neil is not playing,
clean sheets less likely)
- sorry to say this but we must find better back ups as Sacapano and
Camcam will not cut it
- i don't know if Michael Falkesgaard would be ok with being the back-up
of Big Neil (hey, I'm sure developmental wise and exposure/experience wise and
with the kind of competition he's faced, he's way ahead of Sacapano and Cam-
cam)
2. Our best centre backs/central defenders:
- Aly Borromeo (our best defender)
- Rob Gier (don't know much about him, but i think he's the best partner
at center for Aly)
- Jason Sabio (probably not best at centre back, probably better at right
back, or maybe even on the left, like when he subbed for Anton del Rosario in
the Mongolia first leg, don't know and not sure if he was really responsible
for conceding goals during the Mongolia 2nd leg)
- Anton Del Rosario is also an option here, a better option than Sabio, I
think
- * Bahdz Elhabib is an option here, BIG and most importantly SKILLED with
the matching physical qualities, strength, pace, stamina, agility, etc. (sorry,
I'm open to naturalized players, I don't discriminate against non-full blooded
Filipinos)
- any other options here guys?
3. Our best right backs/right wingbacks:
- Stephen Schrock plays as a right back (i think the guy is capable of
playing like a pitbull defensively and can also create opportunities moving
forward for the right side)
- Anton Del Rosario's usual position (our original monster thrower, pretty
decent at this spot)
- Jason Sabio (subbed for this position and made a difference during that
game, 1st leg vs Mongolia)
4. Our best left backs/left wingbacks:
- Dennis Cagara (not sure about his defensive capabilities, have read
about his ability to create opportunities on the left)
- Ray Jonsson (part of the reason we were ending games with clean sheets
during the Suzuki Cup, probably a better defender than Cagara, but not sure.
was he really responsible for the goals (particularly the first one) conceded
to Indonesia during the semifinal?)
- David Alaba (left sided but impossible to have him since he's already
playing for Austria and is first team Bayern FC)
- Jason Sabio (could be our left side monster thrower, hehe..or Anton
could play the left and Jason plays the right...we have monster throwers left
and right..hehe)
- know any other options here guys?
5. Our best defensive midfielders/holding midfielders:
- Jerry Lucena (i think he can be good at this role, he would be a good
balance of defensive and offensive capabilities, respectable defensive prowess)
- Jason de Jong (a defensive midfielder pitbull, has been labeled as an
"enforcer", there are concerns regarding his discipline, coach-ability and
commitment, was also said to be overrated)
- Jose Luis Guirado (would be great if another HUGE and SKILLED athlete
with Spanish roots could be an option here if ever he makes himself
available...)
6. Our best right midfielders/right wings:
- James Younghusband does his damage from the right. Not sure if he can do
better damage somewhere else (center? left?)
- Stephen Schrock is an option here...
- I know of no other options...
7. Our best left midfielders/left wings:
- Chieffy Caligdong (emotional and inspirational leader, has displayed his
ability on the left)
- Dennis Cagara (ability to play on the left)
- any other options guys?
8. Our best attacking midfielders/central midfielders:
- Chris Greatwich (the difference maker, makes plays on offense, well
rounded, availability is a concern)
- Angel Guirado (BIG and SKILLED, was all over the pitch. possibly our
best finisher, but i think he would be best if he would be allowed to roam all
over as he feels necessary, was like he was always around the ball at times,
confining him to a recepient role would limit his effectiveness, was also
pretty good with the ball)
- * Misagh Bahadoran is an option here (proven playmaker and scorer,
SKILLED without question)
9. Our best forwards/strikers;
- Phil younghusband (must return to form and come back in full health,
could have better opportunities with the arrival of better offenssive players)
- Chad Gould (I like this guy, proven skills and scorer, availability is a
definite concern)
- Angel Guirado could also be very effective here
- * Misagh Bahadoran is also an option here (see comments above)
- * Izo Elhabib (sorry, again, I'm open to naturalized players, I don't
discriminate against non-full blooded Filipinos)
- Aly Borromeo is also an option here but since he is our best defender he MUST play as a centre back
- again sorry to say this but I think we have better options than Ian
Araneta up front
Personally, in terms of formations I'd prefer two midfielders in the holding
role or in deep lying defensive roles with wingbacks moving forward to help
create opportunities. 5-2-2-1 or even just a 5-1-3-1. i'm emphasizing defense
since i like clean sheets..hehe. remember: your opponent can't beat you if they
can't score. with the new skilled booters on the team i'm sure our counter
attack will be effective.
