We should put an end with that "who's pure Pinoy and who's not" . We can't deprive these Fil-Foreigners of their Filipino Heritage. Whether you like it or not, they are still Filipinos and being Half-Filipino won't make them less Filipino (By HearT) than the other Azkals such as Chieffy and Ian.

Or worst IMPORTS yung obvious na walang dugong pinoy that they can't pose as half-pinoys cos they'll be fooling nobody.

What's really ironic about the issue of having half-pinoy or fil-foreigner playing for the Azkals is that their parents were ones considered to be "mga bagong bayani". They were the ones who sacrificed and helped improve our country's economy.. so lets show them some gratitude by giving their kids the equal opportunity to representing our country. In the first place, it is because of merit that they were selected... Hindi palakasan katulad sa ibang laro dito sa Pinas...

Our biggest advantage is probably our defensive depth.
I am partial to a 4-5-1 that features both De Jong and Lucena as our roving DMs. Phil or Ian as the lone striker with Angel as the facilitator / backup in front.

i hope we open our doors to naturalizing foreigners that have been a part of Filipino society, culture and communities for quite some time. these guys have been practically living among Filipinos as "adopted Filipinos". they are our friends and extended family. so I see nothing wrong in naturalizing and welcoming athletes to our national teams knowing that they have been a part of Philippine sports for quite awhile. i would prefer these naturalization prospects OVER scouting foreigners to naturalize (i mean no slight to the Smart-Gilas b.ball team, preference lang naman hehe). hopefully we can move beyond the insecurity and embrace whole heartedly our non-full blooded brothers as well our "adopted brothers" who only wish to serve and contribute to our sports endeavors. (catch: as long as they are truly deserving and actually make the cut)

idecris, that is a fair point regarding naturalizing foreigners who have been practically living here for most of their lives, provided they volunteer, try out and prove worthy of a spot. I agree we shouldn't be scouting to naturalize prospects who have no filipino lineage at all, and mainly for the reason that we have no need to resort to that. To the credit of the PFF, I just want to stress that from what I know of their policy on this they are only recruiting dual citizens or those eligible to be dual citizens. There is a significant difference, and it is something we can be proud of.

I really just wanted the chance to have the Elhabib brothers play for the national team. I don't know about Daniel Matsunaga's football skills or how much competitive football he's played, but I would be willing to give that Japanese-Brazilian a chance to try out and prove himself. I mean, if he plays mean football, I want him on my team. He marries a Filipina he's practically a Filipino hehe. These are examples of foreign nationals who have been living among us and have something to contribute and could be sincerely willing to bring honor to our country. Again, as long as they are really good and deserving of a place on the team.

Looks tasty indeed. When pushed back, this should provide space for Guirado to roam freely in order to provide the defense a good outlet for a rapid transition to offense. In the event they start controlling the game and possession, they can shift into a more offensive 4-2-3-1 with Jonsson tucking towards the middle to create a double-pivot with Lucena (will this combo work?) and allowing James YH to move up higher.
