Mulders in and Simon G. out. Im starting to doubt the coach now. He shouldve included Hartman on the list. That roster doesnt have a good midfield that could hold the middle. I dont trust Lucena's game on the middle, I find Hartman better than him.

I have not so I could not make any comments. Though I have read that those players you mentioned are pretty good..especially Lucena on midfield, since he's been in the big leagues.

Like sheajane80 said, Mulders came in too late and Weiss said that he's not adding any more new players. It makes sense...you can't just add players at the last minute. I'm guessing that's also the reason why Hartmann was not included.
The official list just came out. It's basically ldlaurel's list minus Paul Mulders. He will still join the team in Germany but will not play in Sri Lanka.
On a different note, there are 7 home grown players on that list. I take that to mean that they're especially good!

Doesn't Lucena and Hartmann play 2 different positions. Lucena plays fullback and defensive midfield for his club while Hartmann played attacking mid in that UFL Allstars-Azkal game. With the availability of Paul Mulder at attacking mid, they needed experience in defense esp. at defensive mid, so why not a player who had played at the highest level in Denmark. Coach Weiss has seen Hartmann play 1 game exactly. Is that enough reason to suddenly include him in the team? I think he also joined the tryouts last February or March and was cut then. If he is still eligible for the U-23 team, he should join that first and prove himself.

I take that to mean that they're especially good! unfortunately that article itself is not reliable. The players that played the UFL tune up match , only four will be part of the starting 11. He (Weiss) might include Hartmann to form "the 50 men squad list for world cup qualifier selection will join the training camp in Dueren" accrdng to Paul Weiler site. but i personally think that he will probably include Mulders to be in the first 11 base on his track record as a professional football player. --> www.soccercentral.ph/feature/talk-town-who-paul-muldersi hope these guys below will be part of the starting 11 -- base on my previous post. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tough tuneup matches for national booters3:26 am | Wednesday, June 8th, 2011 sports.inquirer.net/4582/tough-tuneup-matches-for-national-bootersMANILA—Determined to whip his squad into the best possible form, Philippine Azkals coach Hans Michael Weiss has lined up four tough tuneup matches for the national side in their two-week training camp in Duren, Germany. The Azkals will be facing a German second and third division sides and two other formidable foes as they step up their preparations for the 2014 Fifa World Cup Qualifying first round clash against Sri Lanka on June 29 and July 3. “It should be a stronger team,” Weiss told the Inquirer when asked to compare his squad from the team he has now than the one that hurdled the AFC Challenge Cup qualifying stage last March. “In Germany, we go for cohesion, we go for team spirit, better compactness and not to be vulnerable on the defensive end so much and then work on our usual offensive style,” Weiss added. First up for the Azkals is a clash with a selection team based in Duren composed of fourth and fifth division players in the area on June 15, three days after leaving Manila. The team, Weiss said, played top German club Bayern Munich recently and barely lost 3-4. The Azkals will also play an Under-19 squad from Bern on June 17. Weiss said the Bern side beat their counterparts from Borrusia Dortmund in a friendly last month. The match against second Bundesliga team FC Ingolstadt, the club of Filipino-German Manny Ott, on June 22 has been described by Weiss as the “peak match” of the camp. The Azkals wrap up their preparations on June 24 against newly-promoted German third division team Darmstadt Achtung 98. Weiss will have the compliment of a full lineup in the Germany camp with players like Filipino-German Stephan Schrock, Fil-Icelandic defender Ray Jonnson and Fil-Spanish Angel Aldeguer and Fil-Dutch Paul Mulders, who is still processing his Filipino passport. The Azkals’ defensive frailties were exposed in a 3-4 loss to a United Football League side last Sunday but Weiss said only four to five players from the team that played in the friendly will be part of the starting XI for the Sri Lanka match. Fil-American striker Nathaniel Burkey and Fil-Iranian Misagh Bahadoran are among the newcomers in the team, which will miss retired striker Yanti Barsales. The core of the team that hurdled the qualifying stage of the AFC Challenge Cup has also been kept with skippers Aly Borromeo and Chieffy Caligdong leading the side. Also joining the Germany camp are Fil-Danish Jerry Lucena, Fil-British Rob Gier, Phil and James Younghusband, Jason Sabio and goalkeeper Neil Etheridge and homegrown players Ian Araneta, Roel Gener, Nestorio Margarse, Ricardo Becite, Edward Sacapano and Anton del Rosario. Weiss said Filipino-Danish defender Dennis Cagara is still doubtful for the camp as he looks for a new club, following his release from Randers FC.

The line up is competitive enough. Let us not be a hypocrite to feel bad if we see few local talents on the roster. Give it a break, the resurgence of football in the country is mainly because of our foreign based talents. Btw, just a few observations with what I saw from the previous games of the Azkals. 1. We are playing a totally different style of play from the previous coach to the present, we play more of a total football wherein, defenders can push through with the offense as long as he is covered by the midfield. That is one reason why we have conceded more goals combined against our stint in the suzuki cup. Our players specifically our defense would definitely need to catch up for the system to work smoothly. 2. The Pinoy style of football is still very visible during the game. Sorry, but I know Caligdong scored us some goals and Gener is doing a hellman's job on defense, but come on, the ball stays on their feet for too long and they can't seem to pass and control consistently. We should at least try to be better at the long game if we want to maximize our players properly. To much short passing will just kill our advantage. 3. We still need a good back up for Etheridge, the guy can't handle it all. It was very evident, how sluggish he was during the game because of the heat, we could have at least substituted him at the half to at least not demoralize the guy. Over eagerness of keepers spells disaster for teams. Thank you.

let me clarify myself at what i meant when i said the poster here must have been huli sa balita to not have known na tapos na maprocess yung passport niya the other day at kasali siya sa training kahaopn. look at paul mulders thread in prospect section. usapangfootball.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=eligibleplayers&action=display&thread=626&page=6from Azkals fanpage: In a sudden twist of events, Cedel Tupas tweets: "Fil-Dutch midfielder Paul Mulders will get his PH passport tomorrow, join the #Azkals camp in Germany and play against Sri Lanka." [Admin Louie] Latest Post in his facebook: Paul Mulders Passport approved now off to afternoon training. Have a nice day everyone!

Dennis is looking for a job. He wasn't offered a contract for next year by Randers FC as they were relegated. I think the main reason he hasn't played for the Azkal before is his employment situation and the subsequent lack of insurance coverage. He has a history of major injuries in the past which have scared off a lot of teams. His main priority is to find a club to play for, which means he will be covered even if he sustains an injury with the Azkals.
