Stephan Schrock: Philippine national team
In the understandable enthusiasm about the commitment of the Czech Tontechni ... uh, the young Czech striker Vaclav Kadlec should not perish, yet the idea that we SGE other newcomers owe you.
In a duel with Franck Ribery: Eintracht newcomer Stephan Schrock
In keeping with the forthcoming European Cup match against FK Qarabag on Thursday, 22 August 2013 (kick-off: 18.00 clock - live in hr), we are concerned in this article with Stephan Schrock, whose life is the slogan "Eintracht Frankfurt international" full. Stephen was born in Schweinfurt, and his father is German, which does not necessarily suggest an international career. But the mother of Eintracht new arrival is Filipina, a not entirely insignificant fact for Stephen's senior national team career. But more on that later.
Club career
The Filipino-German Stephan Markus Schrock was born on 21 Cabizares August 1986 the light of day. As a boy he kicked behind the home, and then went on to DJK Schweinfurt, until he moved to SpVgg Greuther Fürth in 2001. There he trained under Heinz Krapf (Youth B) and Reiner Geyer (cadets), now the assistant coach of Eintracht Frankfurt. As Stephan told us it both coaches have very marked. "Reiner Geyer had to hold me many sermons. Finally, it has borne fruit, "the newcomer told us, laughing.
After Stephen had fought his way to the Fürth cadets twice reached the semifinals of the German Cup (it should not be the last semi-finals remain), he received the 2005/06 season a professional contract and came regularly to missions - first as a reserve player, later then as a regular player. In the season 2010/11 Schweinfurt was ordered by his former coach "Mike" Büskens from midfield to right-back. There he was placed in the first round, the second round, he missed almost complete. Reason: knees.
In his last year Fürth (a total of 183 league appearances for the pros, seven goals), Stephan second division champions. It was the season 2011/12 - You will remember: In second place went to Eintracht Frankfurt. The defensive player who had attended a boarding school during the school year, moving to the ascension to Hoffenheim. He arrived at a total of ten missions. The first took place on the second day - opponent was the SBU, the TSG downright "verkloppte" (4-0 away win). Stephan flew into the game the way from space, which we take it not amiss. As long as it goes against Frankfurt, one must quiet times disappear earlier in the shower.
A year later, then moved on to the professional Eintracht Frankfurt and made to last weekend against Bayern in his first competitive game from the beginning. It was just a really good one.
National team career
Schrock played twice for the German U18 national team, twelve times for the U19 (one goal) and twice for the U20. At Euro 2005, the 1.70m tall players fought with his Under-19 team-mates once again in front of a semi-final. The troops there, but failed to eventual winners France.
After Stephen had received the Philippine citizenship, he ran on 29 June 2011 for the first time to the country of his mother. The game of the Philippines, the fifth largest island state in the world, against Sri Lanka ended 1-1.
Background information on the Philippines
If your just as little as we know about the Philippines before we wrote this text: The Philippines lie in the western Pacific and consist of more than 7,100 islands. Some sources say 7107, others 7108. The number will depend on whether high or low tide is just - no joke! However, many of the Philippine Islands do not even have a name, "only" about 1,000 are inhabited.
7,100 - that may sound like 'ner lot, but guess how many islands, for example, Sweden has! Since fällsde dead from his horse ... - There should be more than 220,000! Who wants to be well, just inflate and drive the boat and set all 's foot on it. If one per island expects five minutes, the whole thing does not take much longer than two years. Assuming you never sleeps.
But back to the Philippines: They got their name from the Spanish explorer Ruy López de Villalobos, who gave the spoon in 1544th He called - of course, before he made the spoon - the islands in honor of Philip II of Spain, "Las Islas Filipinas". Therefore the inhabitants of the Philippines are also called Filipinas (female) and Filipinos (three-legged).
However, the official language of the Philippines is not Spanish, as one might think. In 1973 we pulled the plug on the language - today is Filipino, based on Tagalog, the official language of the island group. Tagalog is not about the Hessian term for a diary of Frankfurt sushi bomber Naohiro Takahara. No, the term Tagalog is the most widely used language in the Philippines, which is the basis of the Filipino not legally, but factually and spoken especially in the Philippine capital of Manila was or will be many.
Thrilla in Manila
Manila should especially boxing fans have a term: in 1975, where Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali knocked for the third and last time the curd from the brain. The fight went as the "Thrilla in Manila" in a boxing history, mainly because of what we say here, because Stephan Schrock - emulating his father - even boxed for a while.
But actually it was indeed just around languages. This is an interesting fact: In the Philippines, there are 171 different (!). (The problem is that the distinction between languages ??and dialects is not always easy: gift!) The languages ??are so beautiful-sounding names such as Waray-Waray, Maguindanao Surigaonon, Ilokano, Bikolano, Chabacano, Cebuano. - Maybe you should suggest Ikea times to name the pieces of furniture Philippine languages. Or the East Germans that do not always give their children American names, but ... Anyway.
How the 92,337,852 Filipinos (the exact result of the 2010 census above) actually communicate with each other, with so many languages? Well, by the American influence - the U.S. dismissed the independence of the Philippines in 1946 - is the second official language English. Also understand about 80% of the Filipino Filipino citizen. Communication amongst so already works. Is actually similar to ours: Somehow our communication with the non-Hesse works, too - unless you have to Bavaria. But this is a particular problem.
Stephan Schrock also speaks Filipino? Nope. He told us that he every now and then snaps a few words, when he is traveling with the national team. But since he lives most of the time in Germany, of course, lack the regular language training. But is also worschd. Firstly Stephan speaks English, on the other hand, the language of football is already international. We have the beautiful Frankfurt Heinz Seyfert and his serbokroatisches Hessian indeed not only understood, but literally to my heart. And despite - or because of - a set construction, a little reminiscent of Master Yoda ("I have faith that the concord nächsde the game will win!"). Stepi was against Bayern way to the stadium. (If you read this, Stepi: Greetings Lebbe weidda Despite goes wrong decision!).
We are making progress!
With Schröcks "exchange" of the German youth teams to the Philippine National A-Stepi has nothing to do. The change is related to an initiative launched in 2010 by the Philippine Football Federation, increasingly player to win for the team, who have grown up abroad and have Filipino roots. The coach of the Philippines is actually a German Michael White. The former goalkeeper of the FK Pirmasens including guest student at Manchester United, Arsenal and Real Madrid, and worked as a (co-) coach or technical director already in Japan, China and Rwanda. So it is a kind of second Otto Pfister - a globetrotter before the Lord. What we - by the way - pretty cool find!
Besides Schrock way still kicking a few more native German or active professionals in Germany for the Philippines. The Glostrup (Denmark) born Dennis Cagara one of them. Some may know him from his brief stint at FSV Frankfurt during the second round 2011/12 (five appearances). He kicks now at KSC.
Manuel Ott also be mentioned. - How? The You do not know? Shame on you! Okay ... we did not know him well. Our reference was: He plays as an attacking midfielder in the second Team of FC Ingolstadt in Bavaria's Regional. What you also - and this is not meant spitefully - a rough impression of the level of the Philippine National gets. The Philippines is currently available (as of August 8, 2013) on the 141 Place in the FIFA world rankings. The trend is, however - not least thanks to Stephan Schrock - steadily. Because something is happening.
The Eintracht addition is rightly proud as Bolle, to be able to play for the country of his mother. So far, that was eight times the case. In the 1-2 defeat of the Philippines against Kuwait on 28 July 2011 Stephan scored his first goal for the island group. The second followed on 24 March 2013: The 8-0 win over Cambodia, he scored the 5-0.
Way to go Stephan Schrock! And welcome to the only German city with a remarkable skyline. We wish you a beautiful, successful and injury-free time in Frankfurt!
