POST-SEASON REPORT: Rob Gier/Ascot United/Uhlsport Premier League, United Kingdom (9th tier)Ascot United F.C. (14th Place out of 22)April 4 2012 Highworth Town 2-2 Ascot United April 7 2012 Reading Town 1-3 Ascot United The Yellamen finished the season in 14th place in the Hellenic League. Rob Gier, finally recovered from his calf injury he incurred during the Dream Cup, managed to play the last two games, making 13 appearances for the club this season, which ended last April 7, starting all of them. The heavens opened up before the second-to-the-last match and the wind and rain continued all game, making the playing surface difficult. Not helped by the unusual sloping Highworth pitch. Ascot United made a good start of the game, making two great goals, one from a penalty. However the home team had dominated way through the second half. In the second half events transpired to deny Ascot an excellent win. Chris Grace had to make a smart low diving save on 55 mins as Highworth began to pick up their game. But on 62 mins as the ball was cleared by the Ascot defence the referee to everyone’s surprise pointed to the spot and awarded Highworth a penalty, which after much protesting was scored. On its final match of the season against Reading Town, it was very good finish from Philip Nugent in the 75 min and a late flurry of half chances in the final 10 mins was a mere consulation for the Yellamen as Reading Town goals in the 30th, 50th & 65th mins ensured Ascot would not finish their last league game with a win. It was a cruel blow as the Yellamen had raised their game considerably from the poor performance in the majority of the season. Nevertheless, the team stayed on the middle of the league table and will remain into the next season hoping for a better run. Rob Gier started its two last matches as right back.

POST-SEASON REPORT: Stephan Schröck/SpVgg Greuther Fürth/2.Fußball-Bundesliga, Germany (2nd tier)SpVgg Greuther Fürth: 2nd Bundesliga CHAMPIONS!May 6 2012 SpVgg Greuther Furth 2-2 FC Hansa Rostock SpVgg Greuther Fürth ends their last game of the season with an impressive away draw against FC Hansa Rostock 2-2 (0-1 at halftime). The goals for the Cloverleafs were from Christopher Nöthe (35) and Sercan Sararer (68.). Thus, the Greuther Fürth team is now declared champion of the 2nd Bundesliga with a 20-10-4 win-draw-loss record gathering a total of 70 points. This season has been the most successful one so far for the Kleeblatt. With an impressive record of 14 home wins and 6 away wins, Fürth became a force to beckon with in the second division of German football, only losing in narrow margins to Eintracht Braunchsweig and Eintracht Frankfurt. Another highlight of the season was a impressive run in the DFB Pokal, reaching the semi-finals for the first time. During the semi-finals run with eventual 1.Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund, they held on goalless until the 120th minute of extra time when a goal by Gündoğan put a heartbreaker to the home team. Nevertheless, it became a deal-breaker for the club as they start their adventure in top-flight German football. Stephan Schröck played both as right back and right midfielder throughout the season. He was an impact player for the club giving them a record of 3 goals and 7 assists this season. However, it has already been announced early this year that Schröcki will move to 1.Bundesliga club TSG 1899 Hoffenheim next season, therefore making this season his final season for the Cloverleafs, in an ironic situation wherein his club for almost a decade will be promoted to the top-flight. It will be a move that will raise speculations if Hoffenheim could put an impressive record in the 2012-13 season with this Azkal. Schröcki's record with the SpVgg Greuther Fürth first team is 183 appearances and 7 goals. From us at Usapang Football, CONGRATULATIONS Stephan Schröck and SpVgg Greuther Fürth!

POST-SEASON REPORT: Paul Mulders/ADO Den Haag/Eredivisie, The Netherlands (1st Tier)ADO Den Haag (15th out of 18 teams)May 6 2012 ADO Den Haag 3 - 5 De Graafschap The Haguenaars were tiptoeing this season with an 8-8-18 Win-Draw-Loss record, with a 32 points score. This is mainly due to 1) lack of quality of midfield, and; 2) a lack of a stellar wing defense. They managed to score 37 goals but conceded 68, most of which were goals coming from either wings. They had a very bad away records, although had an away upset against second-placers Feyenoord with the score of 0-3 in favor of Yellow-Green Hearts. New defensive acquisitions during the mid-season transfer insignificantly helped the team as they only managed to produce narrow wins. Paul Mulders, who came to ADO this season, mostly played central attacking midfield, but was not used often. There was potential to have him start regularly, but injuries have held him off. The first injury that bothered him was a wound infection he incurred in the World Cup Qualifiers in July 2011, while having his debut for the Azkals. The Haguenaars must improve in these critical areas or they face the brink of relegation next season.

POST-SEASON REPORT: Dennis Cagara -FSV Frankfurt/2.Fußball-Bundesliga, Germany (2nd tier) -Lyngby BK/Danish Superliga, Denmark (1st Tier) FSV Frankfurt (13th out of 18 teams)May 6 2012 FSV Frankfurt 1 - 1 Dynamo Dresden Dennis has been moving homes this season. He started the 2011 season with Danish Superliga club Lyngbk BK, which unfortunately cannot escape the relegation zone as of date due to an lackluster attacking force. After finishing his contract at the end of 2011, he signed up with FSV Frankfurt, which was said to have a very fragile midfield. With Dennis' signing, the club escaped relegation with his defensive prowess. The club finished the season with a 7-14-13 WDL record with 35 points, scoring 43 and conceding 59. Although decent, their poor performance has to be blamed with the midfield as said earlier, but it compensated with its boost in defense thanks to new signings like Cagara. Dennis played left back with Lyngby BK and FSV Frankfurt. He was a starter at Lyngby, but was rarely used at Frankfurt. Come June 30, his short contract shall expire. Here raises a question if he will take an extension or find another club that suits his preferences. Find out more pre-season analysis on the Filipino Footballers Abroad 2012-2013 thread.

POST-SEASON REPORT: Roland Müller/MSV Duisburg/2.Fußball-Bundesliga, Germany (2nd tier)MSV Duisburg (10th out of 18 teams)May 6 2012 Fortuna Düsseldorf 2 - 2 MSV Duisburg Roland Müller's senior team MSV Duisburg finished the 2011-12 season at tenth place with a 10-9-15 WDL record, scoring 42 and conceding 45 goals, finishing with 39 points. The Zebras tasted the relegation zone early in the season, but managed to rise to the middle ground by winning home games albeit with weaker teams. A good defense became an asset for them to keep the goal difference at bay. Müller was a substitute goalkeeper throughout the season but did not play for the seniors and is instead a starter for the reserve team MSV Duisburg II whose NRW Liga season will end later in the month.
