Neil Etheridge needs to improve alot. Kuwait's goal keeper killed Neil Etheridge on both matches. neil is one of our most solid players imo. against kuwait he was the best player of our azkals together with schröck and gier. the goals we get are all mistakes of our defense, especially in the ones of leg1. we are lucky with neil. he saved everything what was possible to save as a goalkeeper. what azkals needs to improve : general : - stamina (fitness) - speed and acceleration - technique (dribbling) - passing accuracy (note that many long balls ended up the in off - running routes coordination - prevent unnecessary ball losses - faster shifting from defense to offense and contrarydefense : - more compactness - better splitting - better guarding (closer to the enemy, dont give them space midfield : - help out in the defense more - more compactness - more calmness - better overall overview - longer ball possessions - faster shifting from defense to offense and contraryattack : - improve shot (phil) - keep an calm head infront of keeper (phil) - help out in midfield if needed - benefit more from goal opportunities

I think the Azkals need a star player like Lê Công Vinh of Vietnam who had 7 goals already. Yung magdadala sa kanila every game. Stephan Shrock was amazing. Kung matagal2 na sana siya sa Azkals maybe they had a bigger chance to win against Kuwait. But after all, They played a nice game against Kuwait, imagine #95 vs #162. I'm happy that there will be new great players coming. And I don't care na hindi sila mukhang Pinoy, as long as they play for our country. and another, Neil Etheridge needs to improve alot. Kuwait's goal keeper killed Neil Etheridge on both matches. Neil is a very competitive keeper. its no brainer the blues can score goals....what you should be asking are 2 things: gano kababang goals ang pwede nating i concede sa kalaban and how good is our defense in containing those goals from happening tsaka consider about his saves...hindi lang yung sa kuwait matches.... I couldn't agree more... just give niel time., who knows.. he'll be the next Jean-Marie Pfaff.. props Neil Etheridge..

I couldn't agree more... just give niel time., who knows.. he'll be the next Jean-Marie Pfaff.. props Neil Etheridge.. Jean-Marie Pfaff played for Bayern München, so Neil has to reach the skill from Manuel Neuer, imho atm the best goalkeeper in the world so its a long way for Neil to reach Jean-Marie Pfaff.

I have the utmost faith that NEIL would reach the skills of JMP or whoevers the best atm...........someday... (or maybe surpasses them, who knows!.. )

I watched a Schalke match a few weeks back and was very impressed with Neuer - and he's only 25! ;D It's a shame he transferred to Bayern Anyway, I agree with wenden96 that if Neil was not the keeper, the score would probably not end with 2-1. lol I remember seeing this photo of Ed Sacapano in the Germany camp where a trainer was teaching him proper stance. Haha. (But enough of this bashing ) Neil's quality saves definitely prove that his career has a bright future ;D He is irreplaceable. On a different note, did anyone realise that all of the goals the Azkals had against Bahrain and Kuwait were long shots? Maybe we can use that as a strategy next time. They just have to train to counter the tendency to go over the bar ;D

^^^ really have been disappointed by phil but to be fair he didnt get many chances opinion ko lang....Phil...did played according to the plan... problem is...not only was he properly marked....but hes tooooo much slow on his pace that the defenders just outchase him.[not that he cant sprint] as for chances he did have some of those....i mean a couple or more...talk about being unlucky or it wasnt just his moment or both during the 2 legged match vs kuwait...assuming those strikes on target were converted...my, i would see that as more of a pyschological edge above anything else...against an opponent way above our level...irregardless if we qualify or not for the next round
