Nazrul Nazari and Shahfiq Ghani of Courts Young Lions, together with Tampines Rovers’ Jufri Taha, earned their first international cap for Singapore when they featured against Hong Kong in a friendly match last month. Veteran players Shahril Ishak and Agu Casmir have also re-joined the squad after missing out on the last call-up as they were nursing respective injuries. The squad boasts 16 players from LIONSXII, who finished their debut Malaysian Super League season as runners-up, together with 11 players from various S.League clubs such as Balestier Khalsa FC, Tampines Rovers FC, Home United FC, Courts Young Lions FC, Singapore Armed Forces FC and Tanjong Pagar United FC. The average age of the squad is 25.9 years, and the team features 8 players below the age of 23 years thus creating a judicious blend of youth and experience as they prepare the upcoming AFF Suzuki Cup 2012. The players have been selected purely based on merit and their performances in the Great Eastern-YEO’S S.League and the Malaysian Super League. www.fas.org.sg/news/singapore-squad-named-philippines-friendly

How 'bout this for the lineup for this game? Put Reichelt ahead of Denis Wolf as a forward. PR was a striker/forward before his injury anyway. With what he showed against Cambodia, this might be a better experiment than Christiaens at LB or de Jong at RB.

Jurong West stadium is a grass pitch one, and the home of Gombak United of the S.League. Only has a capacity of 3,200, which is still quite small like Jalan Besar. The pitch is quite maintained, but not as well-even as Rizal. And with that seating capacity, I bet Filipino fans will have to compete more for seats as with the Singaporean fans (especially the LATW support group), but I am still expecting a sold-out match like last year.

Smart idea by FAS to hold the friendly in a grass pitch, to get the players ready for such at their respective groups. All four stadiums by THA and MAS are of the grass variety.

I hope it won't rain during the game. It really gives the players hard time playing like what happened during CAM game. Weather on Friday: 50% chance of rain. Expected to change as the date nears www.wunderground.com/q/zmw:00000.1.48698
Since Schrock will play this game, there will be improvement in our midfield or in defense wherever he will be placed by Weiss.

You got to be kidding me. Football is an outdoor sport. Filipinos in particular should be used to playing in the rain. It is to our advantage. Besides Singapore's fields are well maintained and have adequate drainage. They shouldn't have the same problems they had in Cambodia. I just hope they can finish this time and their makeshift defence holds up and if Schrock can play it will help our midfield tremendously but Singapore is still a quality side and we don't have our full team so I wouldn't raise my expectations too much.

bigger footballers has advantage than lighter ones in muddy, rained out natural pitch. since the azkals are heftier than our SEA neighbors, enough of these 'RAIN' excuses during international matches.

Disappointed as to why Mulders got subbed just after he made his best pass, releasing Porteria. Then again we're done questioning Weiss's sub patterns.

Mulders will always be a good supplier when he is at CAM. so who will be our midfielders on Friday? maybe a Lucena and Schrock tandem at CDM. does a 4-2-3-1 formation works? hmm

Hopefully, Weiss subbing decision on the Cambodia match was in consideration of the upcoming Singapore match. Lucena and Mulders just flew in and he'll need the Younghusband brothers fresh for a much stronger team like Singapore in 2 days time.
