didn't watch the majority of the game but woke up around 5 AM and saw 10-15 minutes of action...i honestly thought Kuwait were the men in blue due to the fact that they seemed more in control, then I picked up the announcers' comments and realized it was the AZKALS!! xx
so proud!
don't take this as a defeat, take it as a learning experience...we're not yet on the same level as the Arab nations but we're getting there slowly. just keep fighting!

Its a World Class Penalty kick Man.. The only one who I admire that is doing that Kind of PK is Drogba just like what he Did to win the Champions League that is not easy. It is still a GOAL.. Maybe JYH should subbed in for Reichelt since Phil is on the Pitch.. The Bros can play well together.. There is some instances in the game, When Phil Runs inside the box there is no feeds for PYH.. Normally those balls needed by Phil is coming from JYH.. Anyway.. Do you know guys who am I thinking that fits with this Kind of Running game? its Mr. "P"... I thought he will subbed in for Wolf earlier.. We are more deadly on the second half, Still a Good game.. Job well done guys nothing to be ashamed of.. Angel the game changer..! and Reichelt want's to stay as a starter. Yes, I have to agree with this one. Phil is still our leading scorer. I think maybe JYH should start as the Younghusbands connect well with each other. If we run out of ideas, then we can put Reichelt in as a sub. My assessment, we are on a higher level against 3rd tier Middle East teams i.e. Bahrain, Palestine. But still a bit off in the 2nd tier like Kuwait. The improvement really is that we were able to get good scoring opportunities and scored on away. That handball was lucky but was still created by a long shot of Cagara? We ran out of gas in the last 15 mins that's why Kuwait got those good counters. Maybe in the next round of qualifying for the World Cup. We should have the same pace and cohesion as of our opponents. But in my opinion, we have a good future as I believe we have more naturally talented players than them.

Reichelt is now a starter material. he can penetrate the defense of the opposing team and he can create opportunities for himself and to his teammates. he has all the advantage over James skillwise. the only advantage i can see for James is his chemistry with his brother.
i like the chemistry of Reichelt and De Murga. Jonsson needs to read how Reichelt play. there was a time when he overlap and took the ball away from Reichelt but was dispossessed.
if we can bring this line-up in the Suzuki cup, i can say that we have a big chance of upsetting the Thais and Vietnamese

What we lose here though is James' connection with his brother Phil.

Great game last night, it was a WIN in my book. Hopefully we can keep up (improve) our form and address our lapses. We are surely an improved team. Congrats AZKALS!!!

« Reply #139 Today at 12:12am » ( Maybe JYH should subbed in for Reichelt since Phil is on the Pitch Angel the game changer..! and Reichelt want's to stay as a starter.) Football is a team game. In comparison to JYH, Reichelt looks who has the best chance to shoot and pass the ball to him while JYH looks where his brother stands. In a 1 to 1 competion Reichelt goes and most often wins the ball while JYH does not or cannot. And correction to your statement: It was the coach's decision to put Reichelt as a starter, obliviously he sees a better winger in Reichelt than JYH. Between you and the coach, I think the coach knows better how football is played. You don't Get it.. All Im saying is that since Reichelt was subbed in, Instead of Omphroy "though he is really good" must be JYH who comes in for Reichelt.. Just Like What you said it is a TEAM.. This Bro's can play well together since PYH is in the Pitch.. What correction? haha You make me lough..hahaha I Mean.. Reichelt wants to stay as starter... Because He played Well.. He is trying everything to show that he really deserves to be a starter. Thats why I said Reichelt wants to stay as a starter.. Chill...

The Kuwaits are speedy in the 1st half (8 goal attempts vs. 4) but they slowed down on the 2nd, we were deadly in 2nd half. I see some new faces on the Kuwaiti team. This defeat is nothing for me, but a big improvement (from previous 2 meetings w/ Kuwait) for our NT, but there's still some work for the Azkals to be done with which is SPEED, esp. in counter-attacking (just little by little to match the Kuwaitis). We've have been won or drawn if Schrock was there.

James' height and heading ability makes him a threat at set pieces too. Right now, I'd still pick James or Omphroy over Reichelt. We're very lucky to have 3 great options at RM though.

Good game although we lost. It's a friendly and part of our Middle Esat camp so in terms of objectives it can be said that mission was accomplished. The Kuwaitis were simply faster and more skillfulll in dribbling. The first goal resulted from a defensive lapse where at least three of our defenders were ganging up on one Kuwaiti player who cleverly lobbed the ball to the unmarked Bader Al Mutawa. Because of the Kuwaitis speed our defenders notably Juani Guirado were most of the time one step behind and forced to commit fouls and dangerous tackles. Compared to the previous match in Bahrain, Jonsson was a letdown this time. He drifted further up the field to help in attack and in the process left holes in the defense. Phil's entry into the game created double attacking threats in addition to Wolf, although I think he would have been more effective if James is there. Excellent game for Neil. Those saves particularly the one from Bader Al Mutawa's penalty left even the Kuwaitis in disbelief and admiration.

Philippines 1, Kuwait 2: another fighting display from the Azkals By Bob Guerrero | The Passionate Fan My postgame thoughts on the loss in Kuwait. The Azkals get good marks in its stiffest test yet in the lead-up to Suzuki. This game was played at a frenetic pace. It was like Football on Meth. The Kuwaiti team has a motor that hummed on its redline for 90 minutes. But they were also technically superb in controlling the ball and creating lovely passing sequences. And yet amazingly, the Philippines went toe-to-toe with the home team for much of the game. Kuwait were better and did deserve to win but unlike 2011, we made them sweat. The comment that encapsulated the game best was one from Darren Hartmann, who said "last year, because of the speed, we were outclassed. Today, we lived with them." Props to whoever is in charge of conditioning for the team, whether it be Michael Weiss or his assistants. All of those exhausting training sessions paid off last night. This was a great game for the team to schedule. It will be a harbinger of the kind of competition we can expect in Bangkok. Neil gets the Man Of The Match plum by a wide margin. The Bristol Rovers keeper made his second penalty save of the year in the 26th minute. It was just the highlight of a magnificent evening. He came up with a gem of a save four minutes earlier. Seven minutes from time Neil positioned himself so well in a 1v1 that the Kuwaiti striker was forced to place his shot and missed the frame narrowly. A great goalkeeper can mask a team's deficiencies and Etheridge did just that. But.... If he isn't sure to play in Bangkok, should he have started? I admit that I don't know if Muller was available with this game. I also am not sure if Muller or Etheridge is sure for Bangkok. My understanding is that the Fil-German has a better chance of making it. If that is the case, and that is a big "if," then Muller should have started, to prepare the team better for the Suzuki Cup. But of course, all will be known soon. Juani Guirado has filled the gaps in centerback well, but he looked clumsy in giving up the first-half penalty. Bader Al-mutwa was nowhere near kicking the ball, and was at an acute angle anyway from what I recall, when Juani barged into him from behind. It was an easy penalty, and easy yellow card for the ref. The play illustrated for me just how important the center back position is on any team. It is the last sentry for the defense before the goalkeeper. Our hopes in Suzuki Cup just might rest at this spot. With Jason Sabio nursing a groin injury and Aly Borromeo still recovering from meniscus surgery, Juani and Rob Gier, both north of thirty, may have to step up big in Bangkok if we are to come out of a murderous group. Incidentally, Myanmar did win the qualifying heat last Saturday and will face us on November 30. What about them second-half penalties? The referee pointed to the spot twice, one each for both teams in the second half and neither was clear-cut. In the Philippine penalty, we saw two replays, neither of which was conclusive about the intentionality of handball. In the first angle, another player blocked the offender, in the second, the camera was panning and the handballer was but a blur. For me the Kuwait penalty was more unjust. It appeared like our man (Juani?) stuck his foot out to clear the ball and the Kuwaiti decided to trip over the outstretched foot. Jason Sabio said it best; it is always the referee's discretion in tough calls. The plays showed how tough it is to be a referee. We couldn't make our minds up on the play even in slow-motion, while the ref must decide in an instant. At any rate the penalties in the second half canceled each other out. Times they are a changing. Did we think we would see the day when Phil Younghusband would not start a game and James would not be one of the subs? That's how fickle and capricious International Football is. There is such huge competition now on almost all positions. Maybe a months into 2013 there will be yet another revolving door swinging, with yet more new faces. Now, more than ever, becoming an Azkal is a case of "what have you done for me lately?" And by "lately" we don't mean two years ago. ph.sports.yahoo.com/blogs/thepassionatefan/philippines-1-kuwait-2-another-fighting-display-azkals-030026974.html
