My thoughts on the match after just finishing watching the replay: MOTM for PH for me would be Paul Mulders. He won lots of Kuwaiti balls the whole match, too bad those teammates he was passing the ball to were often not in sync with him. Like the conventional wisdom, I thought Jonsson was a disappointment and Marwin Angeles was a no-show, in basketball parlance, "hindi man lang nakahawak ng bola" . Reichelt and Omphroy each made a good case for them to be our first-choice at rightwing MF. I don't think we missed James that much.

Also: the first Kuwaiti goal was arguably offside as can be gleaned from the reactions of our GK & fullbacks. They were all raising their arms and looking at the linesman. You can also see that the Kuwaiti scorer paused & was tentative when he first received the ball, it's as if he was waiting for the linesman to raise his flag before deciding to continue when no call came. So for me that goal was iffy. But thanks to Neil the score after the 1st half could have easily been 3- or 4-0, Kuwait had some really clear-cut chances that were saved.
The 2 second-half PKs were both kinda iffy. Both shouldn't have been called IMHO given it was just a friendly. The first was blurry even on the various camera angle replays, how could the ref be so sure when he was outside the box at that time? The second should have been a let-go situation, Juani clearly got the ball first and the sheer momentum of the Kuwaiti player all but guaranteed he would fall down somehow.

Caught the replay at Balls at about 5 mins. into the 2nd half. I would have to say, this is one case where the scoreline belies how wonderfully the lads played. Apparently, the Kuwaiti side have their motors running the whole match without letting up but man, the lads gave them a good game in return. There is nothing to be ashamed of. Also, says a lot how deep our bench is now. Except for not starting PYH, I can't complain much on Coach Weiss's substitution pattern. Kudos to the boys for a very much improved passing game. We had several opportunities to score but that Kuwaiti defense was just tremendous. I recall that attempt by Omphroy at about the 80'+...we could have even things out. IA on Paul Mulders ball control and passes despite him being hounded and hammered. I also think Jerry Lucena's beautiful tackles deserves a mention also. I gotta say also that Dennis Cagara is a fearless bulldog with the right attitude on the pitch. He was there for both the attacks and defense. Him and Schrock seems to share that kind of fortitude. I just hope that the football gods/goddesses will make these guys available for the Suzuki Cup. Pretty please with cherry on top! On a side note. I think the Kuwaiti fans were giving their squad a disservice for using green laser on NE during the match - it was quite obvious during the PK. Overall, I'm not feeling that this is a loss. Everyone of the players who were at the pitch deserves a big pat on their shoulders. And special mention to Rob Geir who is a sturdy leader deserving of the captain's band. Attaboy!

What keeping the officials of the team not giving the Captain's armband to right person... Gier should be the Captain if Boromeo is not around...

agree with you. Gier has a leadership skills. he is very vocal in the pitch in which we rarely see from Cheffy. Gier deserves the captain's armband

I'm having a difficult time deciding which was more satisfying, the bahrain game or the kuwait game?

I'm having a difficult time deciding which was more satisfying, the bahrain game or the kuwait game? i am more satisfied with their game last night. though im a bit disappointed we didn't take advantage from our opportunities. imagine if we beat Bahrain 1-0 and drew with Kuwait 1-1.

Totally agree with you bro.. With that kind of phase where in Kuwaitis are always in full speed and We always try to catch them and then at the Second Half we dominated the game where we almost tied with them regarding ball possessions.. I Can see our team being on top of Group A this coming suzuki cup.. Guys have you seen the Vietnam - Malaysia match? Where the Vietnamese used this kind of tactics againts Malaysians and wining the match? For sure If Vietnamese will play like this againts us, We can Match their phase or even go further.

Satisfied with the game, despite the loss. The team still needs to improve but I would give them a pat on the back for giving their best in both games - Kuwait and Bahrain.
Everyone played well, IMHO but I would like to give these guys a special mention: NEIL ETHERIDGE PAUL MULDERS JERRY LUCENA DENNIS CAGARA and ROB GIER
Hoping the football gods would be kind and make these players available during Suzuki Cup. + Shrocky of course!
I agree with some of you. I think Rob deserves the captain's armband next to Aly Borromeo. His leadership skills are what we look for in a team leader. Even off the pitch, we can always rely on him, a good spokesperson for the team (no biases).

I agree. Gier should get the armband. I dont see leadership from Caligdong on the field. Gier is more vocal and commanding

there's no question about rob gier's effectiveness in organizing the defense. he commands the respect, armband or no armband. I wish there was somebody equally commanding for the offense. All we see is phil's whining hihihi

hope they incorporate video game sessions to further identify there strengths and weaknesses. record every game on high view to visualize there formations on attacks and defense to know where to swing the ball.

No excuses for the loss, the referees are a shame though. Kuwaitis are well known for their annoying flops and dramatics, as they have caused a shame for their nation in the Asian Cup 2011.
Though im very upset about Jonsson and Juani Guirado. Jonsson does not look his normal self anymore.. de Murga should be preferred from now on. and Juani's tackle early in the first half almost cost us the match if not for Etheridge world-class save. Chieffy looked tired all game long, and maybe his age is catching up on him. I expect Misagh to start soon in place of the old chief.
We will beat them next time once we have Shrock im very very certain. He will just create so much opportunities at the midfield.
Though as compared to these big Mideast teams, we will fairly compete against our neighbors from SEA who are much smaller and more at par with our skills and pace. So we will have an advantage.
