Philippines Returns to Kuwait2012-10-15 18:00:00 Four days after forcing a scoreless draw against Bahrain, Philippines will face Kuwait for the third time tomorrow at Kuwait Stadium in a FIFA International friendly. This friendly is part of the Azkals' preparation for the AFF Suzuki Cup in November. It was 15 months ago when the 10-time Gulf champions ended the World Cup dreams of the Philippines with a 5-1 aggregate score and the Azkals are eager to redeem themselves. The Philippine offense will be fortified with the return of Salgaocar midfielder Angel Guirado, Global FC midfielder Demitrius Omphroy, after recovering from a stomach flu, as well as brothers Phil and James Younghusband, after being ruled out for series of friendlies due to a conflict of schedule. This would give Philippine head coach Michael Weiss more options for the lineup tomorrow. Neil Etheridge, who played 90 minutes in Bristol Rovers' draw last Saturday, also returns to the squad to man the posts. On the other hand, Abdul Aziz Hamad’s side looks dangerous as they will be aiming for an empathic win after suffering 2 consecutive defeats in their last two friendlies. Yousef Nasser will look to become a real test to the Azkals backline. The 22 year old Kazma forward netted two goals past Neil Etheridge on both matches last year. Aside Nasser, winger Fahad Al Enezi and forward Bader Al-Mutawa will also pose a threat in front of goal for the Kuwaitis in this match. Does anybody know why Schrock isn't playing in these friendlies? They are on FIFA match dates and the team could have used him against these strong Middle Eastern teams. Middle East friendlies are preparations for AFF Suzuki Cup , and he will not play in AFF Suzuki Cup , I guess that is the reason ? Dont know if he declined a callup or PFF did not call up him. You have a point jonny maybe since He don't have any chance of playing in suzuki cup he decided and the management to give more chances with the likes of Uy and Angeles since this guys are always with the azkals. We all know Schrock, if there is a call up and he is available he will always be there for the team and country, Besides team Hoffenheim now is struggling, specially some of their starters are not available due to injuries. But we still don't know if he will be available for us in suzuki cup. Lets wait and Hope that he will play. Eying for Suzuki Cup SEMIFINALS SCHEDULE??? Lets See.. Wait Can I ask you guys, If Schrock is available for us in the 2 Legged Semi Finals "THINK POSITIVE" He can still play for us?Other question is will this guys playing in our friendly match and Preparations will be available in Suzuki Cup? Maybe... Since they have greater chances unlike Schrock. My projected starting XI, with a 4-1-3-2 formation. Kuwait is BEATABLE this time. We have improved a lot since 15 months ago when we last faced them at the WCQ. I expect nothing less than a draw, as we can go for the win since we now have striking power, high quality midfield, and a rock-solid backline. Projected Subs in order: Marwin Angeles for Lucena @ 45' Riechelt for Mulders @ 45' Omphroy for James YH @60' Bahadoran for Caligdong @70' Wolf for Angel Guirado @80' Porteria for Phil Younghusband @88' ***The strongest lineup ever fielded by the Azkals by far... Minus Shrock still. If Shrock was playing I expect him to start in the place of Lucena, and in the substitution order, Lucena will sub in for Mulders just so Shrock can go further forward, and either of Porteria or Wolf becoming a benchwarmer.

Subs: omphroy/reichelt = JYH One thing I learned from playing the game is that 2 formations don't work at all. One is the American 4-3-3 (2 side midfielders, 1 CM, 3 true strikers), and the side-midfield diamond 4-4-2. Having 1 defined central midfielder is tactical suicide lol. 4-1-3-2 is legitimate but IMO it's better to have a double pivot under 2 strikers or the AC Milan/Brazil diamond 4-4-2. Not sure how Kuwait's going to be. Apparently, looking at their results, they haven't been good. And they obliterated us in every dept vs. us last year. I dunno what to expect lol.

That might indeed be the reason, jonny. Can't think of anything else except maybe he is nursing an injury or have family issues.

sorry to be pessimistic, but I believe the result would be unfavorable for us. I have noticed the Azkals to be a tad inconsistent, from dominating Singapore 2-0 we then fell to Laos 2-1...plus, I predict that the introduction of new players who were absent in the Peace Cup and Bahrain games (e.g. Guirado, Younghusbands, etc.) will cost us as well.
I predict a 3-0 defeat...but fingers crossed, I hope the team does well and prove me wrong! xx
will be rooting for the boys tonight, let's do this PHILIPPINES!! xxxx
