So you think we had no choice in deciding how our coach was picked. If you read far back enough in this forum, you can see that Spox , a German magazine actually put out an ad for a German coach which elicited dozens of responses including some who had experience managing professional clubs in Europe. Palami chose Weiss out of the scores of German coaches who applied. Sure the DFB gave us the funding to hire a coach, but it was up to us to decide who to pick and unfortunately Palami picked the wrong guy. So don't go around saying we should be happy that we get a free coach even if the coach proves himself incompetent. You are shortchanging our team manager and the PFF if you do, because they have already demonstrated that they are willing to go the extra mile to help this team succeed. Relax ka lang, I'm not even one of those who are vocal in wanting to replace him. You're barking up the wrong tree . But I agree with one of your points: If "Palami chose the wrong guy" as what you claim, then the others can now start pointing fingers at the real mistake . But then again, hindsight is always 20/20. What is this moderator? I joined this forum just recently because I believed in its objective of allowing members to share information and discussing what we love about football. Hindi ba pwedeng "paliwanag sa lack of awareness" muna before using a condescending tone?

No my issue with you was that you were condoning and justifying Weiss'es actions that got him ejected. Not only did we lose his leadership in the most critical moment of the game, but maybe for the next game as well. We lose 2 of those games and we are out.

Ouch, tough game. I thought we would be tied through much of the game until Thailand pulled out a late winner. While the approach was different than I thought, the final score was the same as I predicted... in truth I thought we would play much better than we did. Regrettably, poor man marking at the back has proven our downfall, despite the fact that I felt the defense did pretty good for most of the game. I think Thailand won this match through their tireless, aggressive style. It seemed every time an Azkal had the ball, there was a speedy Thai opponent in our face causing an errant pass or a player lumping the ball forward. Long balls may work against the minnows, but against the Thais, Viet Namese, etc, long balls seem a quick giveaway to the opponents.
The most disappointing element of this match was to see just how ineffective the YH bros were (Chieffy too). I think Weiss was 100pct right to sub these guys off. More basically, I think the YH bros need to sack their personal manager and focus once again on football. Too many missed practices, missed training camps, and missed friendlies is really starting to show. I think they cannot compete at this level without staying match fit and mentally sharp. Today, their lack of both was there for everyone to see.
There is a bright side to this story. If we had to lose, going down by only 1 goal will be a big help if the group standings go down to goal differentials. If Thailand keeps winning and we do well in our last two matches we should make it past the group stages once again.

Umm sorry to break it to you but... Thailand did not pull a late winner. they lead 2-0 all along and we pulled a late goal to make the scoreline 2-1. so...what was this for?

Weiss has already claimed it was never intentional. Tapos na usapan, relax, hindi ako ang nagsabi kay Weiss na gawin niya yun . No need to be over-defensive about something. It happened already. You should be going after those trolls in the chat room earlier. I dunno if that "drunk" was only using someone else's nickname since anyone can use any handle in the room.

I'd give a free pass to PhilYH, he was ineffective after getting that huge bleeding gash on his left eyebrow. He needed to be replaced, I dunno why others questioned that. The problem with JamesYH, on the other hand, is that most of the time he only "sees" his brother on the field, his passes are calibrated for Phil only, and he couldn't work effectively with the others once his brother is out.

Summary: the Thais deserved to win.
Coming into the game the most I was hoping for was a point. I figured that the host team would want to attack right from the start, but they were disciplined and picked out the times when to accelerate and change to a faster pace. In other words, they were dictating the pace of the game. I really couldn't see what the game plan was for the RP. If it was long balls, they weren't that successful. If it was keeping the ball on the ground, that was absent.
I'll have to disagree with all of you about Jonsson. I thought he was as good as, or better, than others on the field. This could've been a higher scoring game except for our defense and the luck of poor finishing by the Thais. I think the back four actually did very well in stopping attacks, and there were so many of them.
As for the midfield, I think that's where we lost the game. There was just no link between the back to the midfield, and the midfield to the front was nonexistent. Some of it is Mulders, most of it was the wingers who couldn't hold possession. That's why it was so nice to see Reichelt speed up the right side and cross to Mulders for that clinical finish. Beautiful. Angel Guirado was all over the place, and that's good, but also bad. Great individual effort and he really tries hard to win balls back and keep possession. But he needs to link up with the others.
As for the forwards it's really hard to grade them since they never got any good chances.
So going back to the defense, we do have a good defense. Much, much better than the Thais. But we don't have their attack power either.
This is not a complete setback. A loss, but the team showed some good signs and didn't waste the one good chance for goal that they had. Only a -1 for the goal differential. As some have said, the next game against Vietnam is key. We have to win that one, and even a tie is not the end. But we cannot, cannot lose again.

Two elbows resulted in two separate cuts on Phil's eyebrow. But he is okay.

I don't really know what happened in the chat room. I didn't visit it today. What happened?
As for the guy complaining about my condescending tone, I am just voicing my opinion as a member and not as a moderator. It is perfectly okay to agree or disagree with what I said. I am fine with that since I respect other people's point of view as well, just as I expect you to respect mine.
