Oh my apologies. But that begs the question...and could you tell anyone straight in their faces that Vietnam can beat Thailand come friday? and even a more PRESSING question: Can Vietnam beat Thailand handily? (i.e., with a big margin like 3-1)? ;D EXACTLY. that is why i said that a draw would suffice given the CIRCUMSTANCES. and i remember mentioning in the last sentence that we should go for that 6 points to avoid any complications. you are literally hinging on mathematical possibilities without considering the realistic outcome. and as they say "all work with no play, makes a boy dumb." (did i quip it right?) sorry to break it to you sir. Yes, Vietnam beating Thailand, while highly improbable, lies within the realm of realistic results, like our win over Vietnam two years ago. Umm..nope not really. we were lucky minnows back in 2010, so it is unfair to compare our cinderella run with vietnam's lackluster performance this year. also, circumstances are fairly different so its unwise to compare. i dont see Vietnam winning Friday against a powerful Thailand with momentum on their side, hence a modest draw "might" give us the semis spot. but again, my last sentence says "we should still go for 6 points" soo.. whats the problem? the phrase "REALM OF REALISTIC RESULTS" is vague and can easily be abused by wise-crackers. and please oh please read my whole original post before wise-cracking.

Jerry Lucena @jerrylucena21 So happy for the win, but sad I'm leaving tomorrow, but confident that the team will make it to the semis without me. Proud to be an Azkals.

Ok, look, you called out xyz1000 for being dumb when he was merely stating a mathematical fact. If you can't handle snark, then don't dish it yourself. We here at the forum have different opinions and we accept the fact that we'll never be on the same page because we have different mindsets on how this game should be played, and such. However, we make sure that we don't cross the line and just flat-out insult someone's intelligence here (and that person actually happened to be right). We've done away with rude trolls here a while back and we don't need another episode of that. And don't assume that I didn't read your entire post and surmise that I was not in total cognizance of the entire gist of what you were trying to say. We forumgoers should value all posts of azkal fans here and as such we should read everything before commenting. And you, as a football fan, should be aware of the CIRCUMSTANCES that Thailand has already qualified and therefore might field a less-than-full-strength squad so as to protect their players from injury, whereas Vietnam will do anything to win. And you should also be aware of the many instances in the final matchdays of domestic leagues where a club manages to defeat a much stronger squad and avoids relegation. That being said, I hope, like you do, that our team wins against Myanmar.

That number 8 of Myanmar is a dangerous player. Hopefully our defense can contain him in the next match.

PYH can now redem his striker stature against Mya and refrain from easy fall or diving inside the box. He should be a warrior with killer finish. I say Azkals go for the win and carry on with the momentum. Few times contries meet to play and measure each strength so keep on with the winning phase.

Azkals will beat Mya with at least 2 goals.

The 2nd goal made by THA shows why it's important for the GK to be the tallest man on the pitch, with all due respect to Sacapano. The MYA GK was already at the apex of his jump and there was no more leverage to get more strength in his wrist & fingers to push the ball more strongly upwards and above the crossbar. He was barely able to touch it with his fingertips. A taller GK could have easily cleared or even outrightly blocked that shot on goal.

People here are assuming THA will play full strength against VIE. They don't need to because they have already qualified, they will rest their key players and those with yellow cards, and give their younger players a chance at getting some more international experience. If they want to complicate things for the 2nd placer they can also try to intentionally lose the match. VIE would go all out for the win that is for sure.
The good news is that we have our fate in our hands. We play the first game and we make sure the 2nd game results would not matter by carving out a decisive win.

Random is right. Anyone familiar with tournament play will have seen many instances of teams resting their best in matches of no consequence. In fact I would almost think that this might be a likely tactic of Thailand given the current situation.
"The good news is that we have our fate in our hands." Couldn't have said it better myself. Our guys know what is at stake, I'm sure they'll come out looking and working for a win. This will ensure our advancement beyond any question.

I'm hoping the officials during this match would be from last night's game too and not from that Thailand game.

November 30 is Andres Bonificio day. Will this be another special day for the Philippines? Ngayon pa lang, I'm praying that mananalo tayo and we'll have that semi-final home game that we've all wanted. With Jerry Lucena recalled by his club, who should replace his position? I'm really grateful for Chieffy giving us that goal vs VIE. He might start again for this match, BUT I think he is better as a SUPER SUB. For PYH, I would like him to start but he's been off lately in the game so I guess its also better na SUB rin siya. What's bothering him? Is it his cut? Noticed James as well. Nonetheless, I hope the brothers are in better form this coming match. I have no problems with the back four; same players pa rin. Though, I would like to see Carli back in the game again, even Omphroy. Of course, my new fave right now - Reichelt - bilib ako sa fighting spirit ng bata. Sana starter pa rin siya

Hard to choose between Marwin and Chris. Also Carli and Christaens were warming up in the VIE game and be used as a sub but given the circumstances, Chieffy got in.
