Myanmar's latest game against a J2 Team ASC2012: Myanmar Held By Late Fagiano StrikeNovember 16, 2012 YANGON (16 Nov 2012) – Myanmar were held to a 1-1 draw in their latest friendly last night when Japanese second division side Fagiano Okayama struck late in the game at the Youth Training Centre in Thuwunna. The hosts struck early in the eighth minute when a cross from David Htan was put into goal by Kyi Lin. But Park Sung Hwa (extreme right in pix) and his men was denied victory in front of their home fans when deep in injury time, a floater from Kengo Kawamata was headed in by the waiting Kasuma Okazaki. Let's be careful with Myanmar. We are starting to think of Myanmar in the way the powerhouses in our region used to think of us. Myanmar is going to be a wild card. If they spring a surprise against Thailand and/or Vietnam, that third fixture we have against them is going to be critical. We cannot be complacent, anything can happen - remember the 2010 Suzuki Cup and one of its unlikeliest semifinalist? Hopefully, by the time we face up against Myanmar it will no longer have a bearing on our being in the semifinal.
Remember, we have faced Myanmar in a competitive fixture, the qualifiers for the AFC Challenge Cup which they hosted. They have dealt with the post-2010 Suzuki Cup Azkals, so they know what and who they are facing unlike Thailand and Vietnam.

TIME to break the deadlock gentlemen, a convincing 3-0 win over Myanmar is my prediction. yes, they are much younger than our squad, but the last time they faced us was the Challenge cup qualifiers and we have vastly improved by then in all aspects. Its time to move up the SEA ladder once and for all.

MYA played very deep defensively (ala Philippines when we played Kuwait in World Cup Qualifier in Game 1, or Chelsea vs Bayern Munich) versus Vietnam. Then they countered by playing long ball for Kyi Lin (#8), maximizing his pace and youth(20 y.o). on the air, Rob and Juani will most likely win it (Kyi LIn is only 5'6") but on the ground, oh man, he is too fast.i want Dennis Cagara to check his opposite number always. Or maybe we would play "North Korean style" (vs the Philippines in the AFC qualifier), "always foul the rushing pacey forwards(of course outside the box).

Now we concentrate on Myanmar. A win will push the Azkals to its second straight semis appearance, regardless of the results in the other matches. Azkals now control its own destiny.
A draw may be enough but that depends on the other matches.
Let's go for the jugular and get a win.

We still need a win in the last match to avoid complications. Assuming MYA loses to THA tonight and VIE also loses to THA next match, we could get through with 4 points if we draw our last match. But what if VIE somehow ekes out a win against THA in their last match, we both get 4 points if we only get a draw against MYA. Then it comes down to goal difference. 8)

Let's pray that THA wins against MYA to avoid an even bigger mess.
