Alright, since the Philippine team drew Malaysia tonight, I would clearly say that the Azkals will be a more dangerous threat now to the big guns of Southeast Asia. The team would definitely be solidified if they give an impressive performance at the AFC Challenge Cup. And if they win the tournament and qualify for the AFC Asian Cup (which is unlikely but possible), this will definitely send shockwaves to our SEA neighbours. Nevertheless, whatever national team and club team they should face in the upcoming months prior to the Suzuki Cup, the Pinoy booters should give an impressive, decent and fair performance against the teams, whether it will be a win, draw or loss. Never mind the FIFA rankings, it's just icing on the cake. Looking forward for this tournament at the end of the year.

So wherever we grouped to big guns. I should say were ready to give them hard time. MY Thoughts and % of win probability THA - they should have friendly with this soon. This is the ASEAN with the developed football 50% SIN - tsamba lang panalo nito sa atin hehe. But We'll see in Independence Day Cup Note: They didn't use Duric in their game vs IRQ 60% IDN - Siguro mananalo na tayo rito. May problema sila now eh. They didn't use their quality players such as Gonzales in games against BHR 70% MAS - we drew them so may chance na rin here mga 60% VIE - let's prove that our win here is not 'tsamba' 60% MYA - we never won this country before always draw 50% LAO, CAM, BRU and TLS - 90% How far can PHI go? FINALS 60% What are your thoughts?

The move of Angel, Carli, Juani and (if the rumours are true) JDJ to the Philippines. Have been very beneficial to us. We now have a constant pool of player that would become our core group and create a better chemistry. And thanks to the UFL they somewhat maintained their form. Come the Suzuki Cup, we just need some minor tweaking and we're good to go! With Aly and Chieffy back soon, our Back 4 and midfield would already be fine. so, what we need right now in the local pool is a high level GK. My locally based line-up for the suzuki Cup: Sacapano
De Murga --- J Guirado --- Aly --- Sabio
JYH --- L Moy/Angeles --- JDJ --- Chieffy
PYH --- Beloya / Doctora

Juani and Aly should be switch places, Juani on the left of Sacapano and Aly on the right. We know Juani is a lefty. Sabio displayed his excellent performance last night especially his long throws (he uses his whole body like a catapult) which we scored a goal courtesy of header by Wolf.

i have a feeling that the azkals have a legitimate chance on winning this whole thing. the way they played malaysia was pretty good and that was without a lot of our key euro players. with all the key players from europe, i think the azkals can pass through every AFF opposition.

The key Euro players will not be playing in AFF Suzuki Cup , they got league matches until Dec 20 ...unless they get released. Who knows? But we should really focus on our core team that's based here in the country. With a handful of foreign-based players like Carli, Angel and (hopefully) JDJ coming in and plying for the local league, it will be better if we prioritize on them together with their local-based fellows.

With our locals, or players that moved to the Philippines, I think our mid and defense are pretty good. But here is something to think about for the Suzuki Cup. 1) Sabio has only signed a contract with Kaya for 1 year(ends in Aug) and has indicated he will continue his Law after. Good news is, he is in love with a local girl and MAY continue playing in the PI. 2) Juani; indications in his Spanish team website say he will only be gone for a month and a half, meaning he isn't permanent in the PI. 3) Gier, he's got a new daughter in the UK, I don't think he'll be in the PI THAT long. 4) Unless Nate, Beloya, Doctora or ?? steps up or be given playing time by the coach, our strikers are a problem. The coach has favored Ian and continues too despite lack luster play. Phil needs a complimentary partner and Ian isn't complimenting... I think this is our biggest concern. Having said all that, we do have good defenders in Leonora, Barbaso and Fernandez and who knows Dan P might pull out some more surprise players. By the way, someone informed me via twitter that Carli's older brother is supposed to arrive in April. His name is Antonio. Supposedly he is recuperating from an injury at this time. I have no idea where and what position he plays. If you do please let us know

When Weiss took over Patrick was one of the German players that he tabbed to play or at least train with the Azkals for the WCQ, unfortunately he had a very bad injury during training camp and was sent home. Shortly after his club released him or rather contract was not renewed. Last month he was able to find a lower tier team(same level as Roland M). From my snooping his parents supports him playing for the Azkals, hopefully PFF contacts him again, though he has a short contract and might not be able to come anytime soon. Beware the Filipinos Rajagobal wary of threat posed by the Azkals Wednesday, March 07, 2012 - 20:18 by Haresh Deol pinoy BIG NAME: Younghusband (left) is considered a star player due to his affiliation with former club Chelsea KELANA JAYA: National coach Datuk K. Rajagobal has not discounted the possibility that the Philippines and Thailand could be the title contenders for the Asean Cup in November. Rajagobal said he was not merely making up excuses but said the facts speak for themselves as this year’s edition could turn into a treat for the fans. “Don’t disregard the Philippines. They have a handful of talents playing abroad and can certainly pull off a surprise,” said Rajagobal. “We played against them in a friendly recently and they did not have several of their Europe-based players as they were unable to obtain clearance from their respective clubs.” Among the big names playing for the Azkals — as the Filipino team are popularly known back home — include Fulham goalkeeper Neil Etheridge, FSV Frankfurt defender Dennis Cagara and Germany-based players Denis Wolf of FC Madgeburg and SpVgg Greuther Furth’s Stephan Schrock. Former Chelsea youth and reserve team midfielder James Younghusband is also in their national set-up. Malaysia managed a late goal to secure a 1-1 draw against the Philippines in the match last week that has now been dogged by controversy. Two Filipino players, Angel Guirado and Lexton Moy, had “sexually harassed” match commissioner Cristy Ramos-Jalasco — daughter of former president Fidel V. Ramos — when she conducted a credential check prior to the match. Rajagobal was quick to add that Malaysia did not start with their best players, including goalkeeper Khairul Fahmi Che Mat and defender Muslim Ahmad, in that match. “I was discussing with (assistant coach) Tan Cheng Hoe prior the match and we realised 12 of our players who played at the 2010 Asean Cup were not with the team in Manila. It was an avenue for us to test the other players and several newcomers. “Many tend to forget the Philippines were semifinalist at the 2010 tournament. They played two matches against Indonesia in Jakarta and lost both matches with a similar score of 1-0. What if they had played one of the matches in Manila? I’m sure it would have been a different scoreline.” The Philippines played both the matches in Jakarta as they did not have a proper venue to host the Indonesians in the two-leg semifinal clash. Thailand, meanwhile, have always been the region’s favourites. Their German coach Winfried Schaefer has grand plans of guiding them to the 2018 World Cup. “Have you seen Thailand play recently? They are really good.” “We may be the defending champions but I believe it is an open race this time around with Singapore, Vietnam and Indonesia in the mix as well.” A bulk of the Singapore national players are playing with the LionsXII in the ongoing Super League. “That’s how they maintain their consistency and gel well as a team,” added Rajagobal. Rajagobal instead will have some 21 days between the Malaysia Cup final and the start of the Asean Cup to be with the Tigers. “I have my plans and I am keeping tabs on all these teams. I am sure this year’s tournament will be a treat for the fans.” www.mmail.com.my/story/beware-filipinos
