How is the reception guys in Aksyon TV? It looks better for me compared to IBC13. Mine is much clearer on Aksyon TV.

i wanna congratulate Loyola for beating my team. they were a better team last night, Mark Hartmann showed us that he got some balls. Weiss must see Chad Gould's performance, he was very solid at the back last night except for that 1 poor clearance. i hope Loyola would beat Stallions next week and Global to sweep all their remaining matches to retain the title.

since tv5 will show the PBA on its primetime slots why not UFL. The question is: would the UFL pay for the airtime showing their matches on TV5, considering the first match at 5:00pm clashes with primetime programs, especially news? Although it would be ok to show the 7:30pm match on TV5, can the UFL afford broadcasting then on the channel considering their sponsors? I know the PBA can broadcast it on TV5 as they have bigger budget and backing from MVP, who is a member of the PBA board.

i know it is a long shot for the UFL to be on tv 5. but to be in lower frequency band and greater distribution will help popularize the league. still, i love aksyon tv's coverage. they have the better signal compare to channel 13 on my part. and cristy fermin's radio-tv show before UFL matches is a guilty pleasure.

Although it would be ok to show the 7:30pm match on TV5, can the UFL afford broadcasting then on the channel considering their sponsors? I know the PBA can broadcast it on TV5 as they have bigger budget and backing from MVP, who is a member of the PBA board. My question: is the league the one that pays for airtime? I thought TV broadcasters bid for the rights to telecast league games. Does the PBA pay for airtime? My understanding is that the TV broadcaster pays the league (whatever the sport) for the right to broadcast shows. That's one of the ways how the PBA makes money, they get paid big by TV stations to be able to air their matches because the advertisers in turn will pay big money to the stations for airtime for their commercials when those matches are being televised. So the availability of live UFL matches on primetime TV and on local channels will actually depend on how much advertising and commercial interest and opportunities UFL matches generate. There has to be a market for it to thrive. That's why the growth of football in the Philippines cannot solely depend on the Azkals and national team matches. Football has to become mainstream and a viable market for potential sponsors and advertising that could support and sustain the emergence of a viable professional league. A good thing about the UFL is that it is run by businessmen, so I assume they know all this. For them to have been able to get a television deal is quite an achievement already. That's why I salute the UFL for their decision to move the Loyola-Global match because of the Hong Kong match of the Azkals. It shows that the UFL people know that their growth is also tied up with the fortunes of the Azkals in the international arena. I also commend the UFL for taking things slowly, avoiding rapid over-expansion that could cause the league to collapse. A professional league isn't only just about competitive football matches, great players, tactics, coaching, the fans, the atmosphere, etc. It is also about promotion, marketing, income, revenue streams, infrastructure, etc. You don't only need good players and coaches, you also need business managers, advertising and public relations experts, marketing experts, etc.

If UFL football doesn't bring in very much advertising revenue, how about playing it later at night or maybe a weekend block? Just as long as it's on "none-cable" channels. We're losing out on a huge segment of people who don't carry cable in their homes. I'm scared for the UFL...

I suggest UFL to sign/move to studio 23. It will be the right decision. Even with PBA, IBC is still struggling in gaining more supporters. I hate to say this, but IBC is a dying tv station. It's life support is only sport programs like PBA,WWE,MMA,etc and that's all. Most people only watch IBC because of PBA then when it finishes, they change to other channels. If UFL will be in studio 23 it will gain more attention as it will have news coverages in programs like tv patrol, iba balita, anc and etc. It will gain more attention and viewers.

It's spring now but still a bit nippy if the sun doesn't come out. Still settling in so no regular Internet except at the office. Just saw your posts on the UFL youth league, keep us informed. There's a big annual youth tournament here called the IberCup in the first week of July in Estoril 30 kms south of Lisbon, maybe in succeeding seasons the UFL can sponsor the champion youth team as a prize to the UFL youth champs.

I believe UFL was paid to be broadcasted through AKTV. I am unsure the number of years. So unless Studio 23 is willing to pay the same amount of money.
If not for the UAAP season, that channel is barely making money. Also they let go of NCAA, it means it doesn't give enough revenue streams for their investments.

Archers fire themselves into sixth with win over Nomads Roy MooreJune 11, 2013 7:11pm In their last game of the League season, Green Archers United pounded the Nomads by a score of 4-1, Tuesday at the Emperador Stadium, claiming sixth place in the process while sending their foes down to eighth. The Archers flew out of the blocks as a well-worked corner found Reynald Villareal free outside the area, and after taking a touch forward and beating his man, he fired at goal in only the fifth minute. GAU then doubled their lead in the 32nd minute as Ayi Nii Aryee rifled in a cracking shot from just outside the area. In the second half, the Nomads put up more of a fight and got back into the game when Steve Borrill’s low free-kick was deflected beyond Patrick Deyto in the Archers’ goal in the 69th minute. But after a few nervy moments as the Nomads looked to build on their momentum, Sean Lee and Shag Shapay Johnson wrapped up the victory, with Lee clipping the ball over the onrushing Friso Klok, before Johnson slotted beyond the Nomads keeper from basically the same position in the 89th minute to wrap up the 4-1 win. First half The Archers took an early lead as a corner was whipped out quite far from goal to Reynald Villareal. He took a touch past his defender and hit a snapshot, wrongfooting returning goalkeeper Friso Klok in goal, to open the scoring in only the fifth minute. GAU could have had their second when Sean Lee slipped in Jovanie Simpron with a nice through ball. Klok got a hand to it though, as Simpron tried to round him and was then forced to lay the ball back for a teammate to chip at goal. Klok got another hand to the ball to deflect the shot away from goal, but it fell to Agbayomi Olowoyeye who volleyed well over. Tating Pasilan picked up the first yellow card of the game in the 22nd minute with a late challenge and his foot raised, before rain started to lash down on the pitch making the conditions uncomfortable to play in. Still that didn’t seem to matter for the Archers, as they doubled their lead in the 32nd minute when Ayi Nii Aryee picked up the ball from just outside the area and smashed it into the top corner with his right foot on the first touch giving Klok no chance. It could even have been three for the Archers in a dominant half as Olowoyeye headed over from only a few yards out in injury time. www.gmanetwork.com/news/story/312402/sports/football/ufl-archers-fire-themselves-into-sixth-with-win-over-nomads
