This is not the Mongolia team that we lost to three (?) years ago. I would take that loss in Ulanbataar with a grain of salt. It was a lot to ask for our heroes to be playing in eight degrees Fahrenheit, on a pitch that was frozen solid, and a ball that probably felt like a bag of ice cubes. The fact that nobody got frostbite was a small miracle.

Coach Weiss instruction to his players was to push forward as often as they can, which they did, with no regards to maintaining defensive shape. No defensive pressure and no attention to detail like you see now. He made it easy for the opposing coach to device a counterattacking plan that worked.

This is what pisses me off when people harp on about Weiss' deficiencies. They make it seem like it's fact that there was no system and that Weiss basically just let the players figure out. There are people who say that he just told to players to attack which is what you're saying here and there are others who say that Weiss used tactics that revolved around long balls. It's ridiculous to say the least! Just because the system wasn't obvious it doesn't mean the tactics were outlandish or there were hardly any. This probably belongs in another thread but the reason Dooley and maybe even McMenemy worked out is because they're more meticulous when it comes to the basics (probably a combination of their style of coaching and lack of top level coaching experience) but that's exactly what a country like the Philippines needs. Weiss has stated at least a couple of times that he wanted to take the Philippines to a higher level (I think he specifically used the term "advanced"). Therefore his methods/style were that for a more advanced football nation and a coach like him was probably too early for a country like the Philippines. Obviously he's nowhere near perfect but it doesn't mean he's sh*t coach or a bad person (not every coach is gonna a media darling). So all this crap about he told the players to attack to no end, or he doesn't know what he's doing or all his tactics were long balls or whatever, it needs to stop! It's getting old and really tiresome! He's gone and Dooley is now at the helm with a different approach which is better suited to us. Enjoy it without bringing up the past especially when all that is being brought is bashing about things they don't have certain of. End of story really!

Actually from the comments I have been reading from our players was unlike Dooley, Weiss except for making general statements wasn't really telling them what to do. There was no attention to detail, a common term used by the most successful and advanced coaches not only in football, but also in other sports. Fortunately, we now have a coach who aside from being an accomplished teacher with experience gained from playing at the highest level of our sport, recognizes the importance of this quality, which I agree is what our team needs right now.

LOOOOOOOL!! You made my day pal! Long throws + long balls, on your part is advanced. Using the same players and neglecting talents playing locally is advanced? So playing like headless chickens maybe is an advanced tactic employed by Coach Weiss? *slow clap* And now you say Coach Weiss is too advanced for a country like us? WOW!!! It is the end of story really, you just hate what the majority says! Get a new mindset brimstone, everyone moved on. It is not like we are bashing the former, we compare, we can just see the big difference in the system and you know what is better. P.S.: No one said Weiss is a sh*t coach. Even Rick Olivares doesn't. You said that.

OT : Breaking news David Moyes was sacked as Man U manager just this morning. . . heck! the board hasn't have patience they snatched Moyes from Everton, signed for 6 year contract and then now fired him in just less than a year. . . In fairness to Moyes he is a decent manager, it is just he failed to meet the high expectations . . . a standard set by Sir Alex is really a huge vacuum to fill with. . . Welcome Ryan Giggs to managerial career . . .

He introduced fil-europeans(mostly germans) like (cagara, reichelt, ott, schrock, lucena and etc.). He brought our team to training camps in germany and let the u-23 team join the nagold cup. I mean it is done, he's not our coach anymore. We should stop criticizing him too much, and just give him a graceful exit that he deserves.

Even Rick Olivares doesn't. You said that. LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL yourself!!!! Like I said, just because the system wasn't obvious doesn't there wasn't any!! This is also what I'm trying to get at. People like you only see the obvious and fail to see the bigger picture and/or the details. Therefore it doesn't take much before the [extreme] bashing starts. And yes, I in fact hate what the majority says because of what I said in the above paragraph!! Weiss, whether you accept it or not, said he wanted the Philippines to play a "higher/advanced level" of play. From player selection, to the notion that he only focused on the offensive side, you can somewhat get the idea that what he says was true. Again, he obviously had his shortcomings and one of them was perhaps the approach in order to get us to play a "higher/advanced level" of play. As I've said, we're a country that still needs to be able to fully get the basics and that's why Dooley is fitting in practically above expectations. "It is not like we are bashing the former" Oh BS!! Just by bringing him up every now and again to prove how well Dooley is already indirectly having a dig at him. If you wanna talk about Dooley and how well he's fitting in or whatever, that's perfectly fine but surely you can do so without having to mention Weiss or anything else related during his tenure. P.S. I said he's s**t? LOLZ!! No I didn't you doughnut! Way to go for trying to turn the tables!
