Studio 23 will cease off the air effective January 17, 2014.
Studio 23 has announced, on its 17-year broadcast, that it will be ceasing its commercial operations on late-night Friday right after the final program O Shopping. It will be replaced with a launching of ABS-CBN's newest sports channel on Free TV effective January 18, 2014.
Could this be the home of Azkals Games?

If you miss several Azkals games and can't watch it online, then it's your chance to watch it on ABS-CBN Sports+Action Channel 23
RT @abscbnsports: Catch the best matches of the Philippine Azkals every Thursday, 10 p.m. on ABS-CBN Sports + Action (Ch. 23)

ABS-CBN should emulate the broadcasters in Malaysia and Dubai in shooting footy matches - detailed replays, HD resoulution, more crowd shots and balanced commentating. I still don't get why 80% of the time Bob G does the commentating.

Darren hardly brings anything to the table. Bob G might be serviceable, but unless we find a lively counterpoint to him as Color Commentary, the ABS-CBN broadcast team will always be found wanting.

Alright, 2 years has passed since ABS-CBN's contract with the PH team. Broadcast quality is slowly becoming at par. I will just wait on how they produce coverage when they get to do a fixture at the Philippine Stadium.

TV 5 or AKTV is better, for sure they will have a much better marketing strategy and we can view these channels online for free unlike Studio 23 or abs cbn sports and action.

^ Sorry, I would have to disagree with TV 5 having a better marketing strategy. Look at the UFL, its been almost 5 years and there's hardly any noticeable increase of presence in media. Unless you deliberately search something about the UFL, you hardly hear anything about it. Plus, how much TV viewing share does TV 5 or AKTV hold in general? So, I doubt if TV 5 can help market the Philippine team. In the past, there have been rumors of big celebrity names (currently popular) and marketing people moving to TV5 from ABS, but those didn't pan out and just remained rumors. If those big names & marketing brains had moved to TV5, then things might have been different for this channel and would have change the local network landscape. It would have been easier then to say let the Azkals move to TV5.
The reality is, ABS is still the biggest network and has the widest reach of audience - locally and internationally. Perhaps, the best thing is to just continue to improve the relationship between the PFF & future national league and ABS-CBN. And when we say improving relationship, PFF has to really network not only with the people behind ABS sports channel but with ABS in general. Try to understand their "world" at the same time you try to let them (ABS) understand what football is. Establish some sort of connection. And have patience. Saying this out of previous experience.
In terms of having exposure, I also hope PFF would capitalize on celebrities who love football. Choose the ones who have influence or are articulate about football or generally speaking in public. Take for example, Isabelle Daza. She just recently moved to ABS-CBN and will star in a primetime soap with Gerald Anderson very soon. She LOVES football and posts from time to time about it. She may not be a professional athlete but she knows and plays the game. She's a celebrity, she has influence. Why not make her an ambassador for women's philippine football? There's Daniel Matsunaga, who recently won Pinoy Big Brother, which just happens to be one of ABS' highly rated shows. He spoke about promoting football in the Philippines and setting up a football school in a recent article. Why not make him an ambassador for football too? I would think that a lot of people would be able to relate to him especially when it comes to the argument of "foreign-born" vs "locally-based." He constantly speaks about "pusong pinoy" in PBB. The downside with Daniel though is that he's not that articulate yet in Tagalog and English. There are other famous local celebrities who play football or love sports in general. Can't remember their names right now but you see them post about it online from time to time.
Atom Araullo is another TV personality that I would like to see host/report about football. He did a good job on reporting about the little azkals' documentary. I hope he gets to host or be a commentator in Azkals' big games such as the upcoming world cup qualifiers. When the national league gets launched, I also hope he gets tapped to be the host of the opening/launching. Kilala siya ng masa at articulate in english and tagalog. Not to mention he plays football. Speaking of commentators, I think Anto Gonzalez could become a good TV commentator too. Magaling siya mag-explain at mag-tagalog. Kailangan lang ma-improve ang "TV presence".
In general, I think its still a good idea to stick with ABS sports channel. Yes, they've disappointed football fans very recently but they're the best option I think. TV 5 has a very rich backer with MVP but they are still starting as a TV network. Network competition is too high and it will take years for TV5 to establish themselves locally and internationally. I don't think Philippine football can afford to invest or wait for that time. PFF/Azkals/local league needs solid backers from different industries, who have already established their foundation. They just need to improve on their relationship with the network (also with other investors in general).
Just my 2 cents.

I'll vote TV5 only if they will move the UFL to their main channel from aksyontv. In fact, I wish UFL will soon move to Action+Sports.
