PH U23 team starts training today By Cheska D. Geli Tuesday, June 21, 2011SO ANO YUNG PINAGSASABI NIYONG LACK OF PREPARATION? AS EARLY AS JUNE COMPLETE TEAM OR NOT, THEY ALREADY STARTED TRAINING. WHILE MYANMAR ONLY HAD 1 MONTH TO ADJUST TO THE NEW COACH'S SYSTEM, AKALA NIYO MADALI LANG GAWIN ANG ADJUSTMENT NA YAN? YET DESPITE THAT THEY WERE ABLE TO DRAW VIETNAM! VIETNAM WHO BEAT US BECAUSE ON THE 2ND HALF YOU CAN CLEARLY NO SENSE OF PLAYING DEFENSIVELY. THEY STILL WANTED TO ATTACK. AYAN TULOY SAYANG ANG PANALO SANA O DRAW MAN LANG.
it didnt materialized because of the lack of funds for the provincial players filipinofootball.blogspot.com/2011/07/u-23-team-needs-help-weiss.htmland it didnt stop no news regarding the formation of the under 23 but instead opted to look elsewhere.....

@sheajane ---- you know what, stop crying over spilled milk! I mean cmon, it's just a game.. Sometimes we win.. sometimes we lose! you don't have to say it over and over again that the coach sucks, or the game plan was wrong or whatever the reason is. We get it! you have your points about what went wrong no need to say it over and over again as if the coach was that dumb.. He may not be as good as other coaches but still respect him as a person. Because if he was that World class he wouldn't be here coaching and HELPING our team. All coaches want to win. That's a plus for their status! Look at where Macca is now.. after the fairy tale run in the suzuki cup, a lot of teams in SE asia wanted him.. Coaches have different styles, they may be helpful for the team or sometimes not. But give the guy some slack. Give him some credit for what he did for the team.. He won us some matches right? I'm not a Weiss nuthugger or whatever you would like to call it because I'm particularly not impressed with how he adjust things specially during the 2nd half. Let's stop all this Coach blaming thing cause we can't do anything about that anymore.. Unless you donate a large amount of money to PFF to provide the Team with a world Class Coach that YOU would want. lol! Or maybe you could apply for the job! hahaha.. Peace! Anyway, the tournament has just started and instead of talking about the coach and how ty his tactics may be (according to some!) Let's talk about how the team must play with the other teams for the rest of the tournament.. Let's all leave that sorry loss behind and look forward to the upcoming matches. Especially with myanmar and of course for tomorrow's game against Timor Leste.. What could be our possible formation tomorrow? and which player should we mark?
Stop the hating guys.. we are not here to talk about people.. we are here to talk about the thing we love.. FOOTBALL!! Win or Lose!

Looking forward to their next games. Note: This is the first game for our U-23 in the new era of PH football so expect there are some problems but later on they will solve it Aside from practive, We should give them a reward to motivate them to win ;D XD just like what will Thailand do www.aseanfootball.org/?p=6604I think the goal difference and what will happen to the games of other teams will be a huge factor here for us to win. If they always draw and we won on our opponent we have a big chance )

SEA Games: U23 Azkals clash with dangerous Timor Leste By Musong R. Castillo Philippine Daily Inquirer JAKARTA—The Philippine Under-23 Azkals gun for their first win against what appears to be a more formidable Timor Leste side on Monday, hoping to stay alive in their hunt for a football medal at the 26th Southeast Asian Games. Kickoff is at 5 p.m. (4 p.m. in Manila) at the Lebak Bulus Stadium with the Azkals looking to rebound from their 1-3 loss to Vietnam in their debut Thursday. Considered one of the weaker teams in the competition, the Timorese quickly made everyone in the football roster take a second look at them after striker Murilo scored two goals inside the final 26 minutes in the 2-1 comeback over Brunei Saturday afternoon. The Azkals cannot afford another setback, most especially since Myanmar had forged a scoreless draw with Vietnam, also on Saturday, to tie the Vietnamese for the Group B lead. Myanmar’s first win came at the expense of Laos also Thursday when it came back from a 1-2 deficit to win, 3-2, with two late goals. Laos and Brunei also look for their victories when they clash in the 7 p.m. contest. Against a more organized and cohesive Vietnamese side, the Azkals were forced to defend for long stretches and striker Mark Hartmann said they will be changing their approach against Timor. “We’ve got to attack, and there’s no ifs and buts about it,” Hartmann told the Inquirer on Sunday, hours after a light workout. “We may have gotten the strong team (Vietnam) out of the way (after a 1-3 loss on Thursday), but we’ve got to win our remaining games,” the 19-year-old half-Briton, a younger brother of team skipper Matthew, added. Team officials have pointed to fatigue as the reason why the Azkals were unable to protect the 1-nil lead with the enormous pressure put up by the Vietnamese. Four of the Azkals players, including the goalscorer against Vietnam, Manny Ott, arrived just two days in this bustling Indonesian capital from different parts of Europe. Ott, who reconsidered his decision of not playing here at the last minute, gave the Azkals a 1-0 lead in the 37th minute only for the team to surrender three goals in the second half. “They were fatigued,” team manager Dan Palami said. Roland Muller, whose brilliant goalkeeping kept the Vietnamese at bay early in the match, will again man the net. After that loss, the players held a meeting among themselves, according to team coordinator Patrick Bright, to improve cohesion. filipinofootball.blogspot.com/

diba yan ang quality ng FORMER AZKALS na magaling mag depensa? that's the lesson that should be taught for the younger players, that defense should always be the priority.
You make it sound like the Philippines has historically been a good defensive team, while in reality only TWO matches could be considered that- the Singapore draw and the Vietnam win. Granted, those were the matched that catapulted the team into popularity, but still, they were only two matches.

"1st 11 today: muller,ott,porteria,hartmann mark,hartmann matt,van bossche,martinez de murga,hinrichsen,de jong,christiaens,valmayor" -@acebright
Looks like Coach Weiss isn't giving Leonora a second chance, and I don't blame him.
Jinggoy Valmayor finally given a chance to shine while both Hartmanns are starting. OJ Porteria is in the fold as well.
Muller de Murga-Van Bossche-Matt Hartmann Ott-de Jong Christaens-Mark Hartmann-Hinrichsen-Porteria Valmayor ?

in regards to the above article of Philippine Daily Inquirer ...Kickoff is at 5 p.m. (4 p.m. in Manila)... - is this true or media mistake again?
Good Luck Azkals U23 for your game later! just more than an hour to go, can't wait! ;D

What's the natural position of Hinrichsen? I think they will still be going with the 4-5-1.. or maybe they could go for the 4-4-2..
4-5-1 Muller Carli --- JVB ---- Hartmann --- Hinrichsen? Christaens --- Mrk Hartmann -- Dejong --- Ott -- Porteria Valmayor
or 4-4-2 Muller Carli --- JVB ---- Hartmann --- Hinrichsen? Mrk Hartmann -- Dejong --- Ott -- Porteria Valmayor --- Christaens
