deym... i forgot to highlight the fact that our boys snatched that win from laos with only 10 players on the field and did that during the dying minutes of the game. that showed how big their hearts are. i soooo want to give each of them a bear hug.
ok... screw those lapses in defensive tactics and all other mistakes they made in the pitch - FOR NOW. i just want to rejoice with them at this moment and give them a break they truly deserve. did i already say GOOD JOB, JUNIOR AZKALS? ;D

yeah. he could have controlled the ball first, play a fake para mawala yung defender on his left na ahead na sa kanya ng 1 step saka sana sya tumira. but we won. porteria is still very young. charge to experience na lang yun. im sure, he'll know what to do in the future when he gets into the same scoring situation. IMHO, he is one of the best players in our team. just imagine what this energetic winger can do in say, 3 years doing international football. i will not be surprised if he gets signed up after this tourney. he showed lots of great footballing promise.

I wasn't able to watch the game so thanks for the commentary guys. Good fightback for our players. From what everybody here is saying, they seem to have managed a lucky win scoring in the last 2 minutes, on the heroics of Beloya(2 goals) and Mark Hartmann(2 assists). The defence was disorganized again typical of a Weiss coached team and apparently most of the possession was controlled by Laos who was playing with one man up a good chunk of the game. Despite all this and the controversies, the players showed a lot of heart fighting till the end to salvage the long awaited win for our team.

^^ i dont know pero nag lie low sya ngayong game...in compare to two previous games, isnt his assignment to stop all the wingers from penetrating deep.....or nagtatago sila ng play kasi may scouting personnel ng myanmar.....anyways he is good...he will be a key personnel for the NT in the future...

I prefer he try out for MLS. OJ was part of the DC United Youth Academy which is part of the US developmental academy system and he was considered by DC United as a good prospect, but OJ decided to prioritize the Azkals and moved back to the Philippines instead. If he is part of the Azkals setup from now on, this would also be good for his development but at the club level, he would progress more being part of the MLS.

I'm still high with those two goals of Beloya and that beautiful display of composure and the perfect finish for the winning goal. I must have watched the highlights a dozen times already. Just looked up his profile. Didn't know he played for FC Zurich's youth team. On a shallow note, I see why posters at Misso say he looks a bit like Iker Casillas. U23 Azkals nip Laos, 3-2, keep semis hopes alive BELOYA'S LATE GOALS LIFT FILIPINOS IN THRILLING FINISH By Cedelf P. Tupas Philippine Daily Inquirer 7:52 pm | Friday, November 11th, 2011 539 share1950 1410
Don’t count the Philippine U23 Azkals out just yet in the 26th Southeast Asian Games.
Substitute Joshua Beloya struck twice inside the final four minutes as the Philippines kept its flickering semifinal hopes alive after a pulsating 3-2 win over Laos Friday night at the Lebak Bulus Stadium in Jakarta.
The Bacolod-based Beloya, who grew up in Switzerland, scored on a tap-in in the 90th minute before completing the fightback with a clinical finish three minutes into injury time as the Under-23 Azkals registered their first victory of the tournament after back-to-back losses.
“We wanted to show that we have a team that’s willing to fight for the country for more than 90 minutes. The players showed they are more than just the Manny Otts, Jason de Jongs, but they are Filipinos,” said Palami, who gave a lively pep talk with the team.
With the victory, the Azkals still have an outside chance of making the semifinals with three points, although they would need to beat Myanmar and Brunei in their remaining matches and hope that a confluence of events like Vietnam losing to Brunei and Myanmar and Timor Leste play to a draw to advance to the medal round. The Azkals also hope that Laos beats Timor Leste.
“We know our chances of making it (to semifinals) are slim but what is important is that we come out and play with pride and show that never-say-die spirit the team is known for in our last two matches,” Palami added.
Much of the Under-23 Azkals’ campaign has been littered with heartbreak, but for four enthralling minutes Friday night, Beloya gave them something to cheer about and breathed life to the Azkals’ flatlining bid.
The Azkals trailed 1-2 and were down to 10 men when Beloya, born to an American father and a Filipino mother, delivered the sensational goals.
Beloya equalized after finishing off a flowing move that started with a reverse pass from OJ Porteria at midfield. Porteria’s pass released Mark Hartmann on the right and he set up Beloya for the easiest of goals.
Growing in confidence, the Azkals completed their comeback with Beloya again on the firing end.
Showing the skills he honed while playing for the youth team of FC Zurich and with Negros Occidental in the UNder-23 Championship, Beloya latched unto a long ball and displayed great composure to hold off his defender before firing past the Laos keeper.
Manny Ott opened the scoring for the Azkals in the seventh minute, combining well with Jason de Jong and Jinggoy Valmayor to score with a side-footed finish just inside the box.
But the Laotians carved up plenty of chances on the right flank and they were rewarded in the 38th minute with Lamnao Singtao’s close-range strike.
Singtao put the Laotians in front, 2-1, three minutes into the second half, completing a quick counter attack with a cool finish against Azkals keeper Roland Muller after Jacques Van Bossche’s pass was intercepted at midfield.
The Azkals were reduced to 10 men when Patrick Hinrichsen picked up a second yellow card in the space of less than 10 minutes in the second half.
The buildup to the match actually centered on the sudden departure of Azkals skipper Matthew Hartmann who quit the team and returned to Manila Thursday.
Hartmann told the Inquirer that it was his decision – not the coaches – to pull out of the squad because “circumstances gave him no choice but to leave.” The Fil-British player did not elaborate.
In Hartmann’s absence, Jason De Jong and Manny Ott were selected co-captains for the Laos match, which marked the fourth meeting between the two countries.
The Philippines has lost all three matches against Laos in the SEA Games the last coming in 1999 when the Filipinos, despite scoring the first goal through Norman Fegidero, bowed, 2-3, in Brunei.
And just when it looked like the Filipinos were headed to football oblivion in these SEA Games, Beloya gave them a ray of hope with two late goals. sports.inquirer.net/24183/u23-azkals-nip-laos-3-2-keep-semis-hopes-aliveKid is can score. Filipino-American Joshua Beloya fly high
Fil-Am Joshua Beloya become a stand-out performer for Visayas Regionals’ number one ranked under-23 team from Bacolod (Negros Occidental FA).
He scored a rare quad goals against Leyte during their match at the Cimafranca Football Field in Dumaguete City. The goals scored by the footballer is the second time, in the tournament, that a player scored four goals: the other one was done by Dumaguete’s Morris John Tulang.
It was a dominating performance for the ‘super-sub’ who all-in-all tallied a total of 6 goals in 4 matches during the Visayas Regionals.
Bacolod, his team, will represent Visayas for the upcoming PFF Suzuki Under-23 National Finals. sugod.com/8678/filipino-american-joshua-beloya-fly-high/

I wake up to a great morning content with a win(with 10 men & 2 goals!). Now Manny Pac later!!!
I'm glad for us in our win against Laos. It certainly is a great win considering the 'turmoil' in the team. It seemed Mark H. decided to play for he and his brother(I'm glad they both didn't decide to go home) so he was most active this game. By the way, before my mouldy VHS tape decided to crap out, there was a sequence when Laos broke away from the defense and was almost guaranteed to score, when Muller stopped the ball but the ball stayed about 5 yards from goal. Guess who kicked the ball away before a Laotian player could get a shot on goal? Yes none other than Mark Hartmann on defense! If I get it to work again I'll post the time when it happened.
Mark deserved most of the criticism he's received from his lackluster play lately, but no one can take away his 'jewel' of a game last night.

Some of us here emphasizing on why are we not playing short passes and always playing long balls...Can't really do that with the team who practice on 1 month while some just got on the team 1 day before the match.I takes playing more playing time and practice....I really hope this team will play each other often and improve more. The fact that most of them can still play in the next sea games I hope we can get that medal.
I have watched the 1st half of the match and feels like I'm watching the replay vs vietnam..We got the 1st goal and the team got frustrated on opponents attack..We really don't have good defenders except Carli de Murga(but suspende). I hope the coach will emphasize more on our back four. Too bad for me never got the chance to watch the second half..Nakatulog ako eh....Pagod kasi...Worst day of the week so far... Buti na lang nakita ko pa ung last goal ni Beloya..Napasigaw tuloy ako...Goalllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll....hhaahha

chololot12 this can't be the 'worst week' 1st win of our young Azkals and a win tomorrow by Pac will also start your next week in a positive note! ;D
Actually(just my opinion) why just stick with short passing or long passing? Why not learn both? Jack of all trades master of none? I think I'll take that better than being great on one thing lang, because someday an opponent might be great in stopping a short passing team, then we can't have anything to fall back on.
I don't think I explained that well. My point is, Mark Hartmanns pass for the winning goal at 90+2 minutes was a veeery long pass that landed perfectly in front of Beloya. Without that long passing skill, we might've lost this game too. But anyway still a win for our boys!! Pareho tayo, my kid, nagalit, I was screaming so loud!!
