It seems Mark Hartmann played inspired and made a big statement on this game; Never ever write him off. He is a talented lad, good as a second striker and with the right mind and focus he will be one of the pillars of our future Azkals. BTW, nice line-up strikeron. I'll put Mark H instead of Valmayor in the starting XI. thank you. im one of the few followers here who believes that Mark Hartmann will shine. though he had a bad game against Timor Leste and Vietnam, i know that he can still show his capability, he is a good and accurate free-kick taker. though he is not that fast enough, his presence in the field is important. im hoping we can pull an upset against Myanmar.

Mark Hartmann has to play deeper to be effective if he is on the pitch. Notice that Mark H and Beloya started in the Vietnam match but Beloya was quite anonymous (especially compared to today's match) in that match. I think it works better for Mark H to play behind the striker. To me it seemed that Mark H playing alongside another striker kind of cancels out the other player like in the Vietnam match. Note in the Timor Leste match how Valmayor got more into the game when Mark H got subbed out.
When you think of it, going down to 10 men was a blessing in disguise. This forced Mark H to play deeper and not in line with the striker. If I'm not mistaken he had a role in both goals. So okay, he redeemed himself. I'll charge it to the folly of youth, hehe.
Beloya finally got a chance to show what he's made of. Christaens and Porteria I believe have a claim on those wings. I like the fact that those guys are versatile enough to switch flanks from time to time.
The defense still needs a lot of work, we still rode our luck on this match and had to depend on Muller's excellent keeping once again, However, Leonora showing better composure. Notice during the offensive transition when we regain possession of the ball at the back, it is fielded to Leonora to get things started? I think he's been earmarked to be a key player.

fadzki. you're right. South Korea vs UAE The South won through last minute goals but the Philippines U-23 match is more crucial in time since Beloya's 2nd goal is seconds away from Full Time. It is also 1 or two minutes in margin hehe REALLY GREAT WIN

Wow what a good way to start the weekend! Hehehe... just as I posted awhile ago Christaens and Porteira on the wings. Those 2 guys will be our next Caligdong-James YH. Credit goes to Mark Hartmann for elusively baiting the Laotian keeper and that selfless play. Clearly it shows the difference of fielding a natural forward as a forward and not as a midfielder And what a stellar performance by Joshua Beloya. I'm sure he will remember 11-11-11 for the rest of his life. Congrats to our Azkal puppies and Coach Weiss.

Good job by the lads. Hope this translates to better things ahead.
Thoughts:
1. Still think Mark H should be pegged as a support attacker in between our strikers (jinggoy, ojay, beloya) and the wingers (jeff c., oj).
2. this is probably the worst i have seen jVB play. hopefully this is because they knew Carli was not around. still believe he is the future as our centerback.

atleast 11-11-11 works in this day for number 11
the game thought was scrappy after the 1st goal of ott however i would give few to the defense (Midfields) maybe due to frustration they started to hurt the other players and it turn out to be effective in disguise the attack of the laos lessen.however that causes a price, NT will miss the presence of hinrichsen....with 2 yellow and expolsion in the game I think it was been the spark plug to take the offense on full throttle...
the 1st goal of Beloya can not be materialized if mark hartmann forced the issue, i give my congratulation to mark hartmann for sending an extra pass to the center, the maturity was slowly moving in his nerve......atleast i agree to some that he is really indeed effective as a midfielder.....
the second goal of beloya is indeed a shocker....but it happen due to a long pass by (*** i forgot who did it)the most effective so far in the last three games, it the most beutiful long pass ever excuted.......and with a an excellent finishing execution of beloya.
our defense still have a problem especially that laos saw our weakness unlike vietnam and timor leste attack us on the side while laos attack us on the middle especially the second goal and the first almost 30 minutes of the second half....this thing is highly to watch for.....especially we are facing myanmar in the next game......
congrats to beloya go NOFA.....and congrats to the rest of squad.........

tombucho let us all enjoy the win, don't be a sore winner, we're all on the same side aren't we? And no not everything is alright. Hinrichsen(a midfielder) who struggled at LB last game was now at RB. Guess what? He struggled again with shadowing/controlling his side AND bad tackling and got red carded. R Fernandez was in the game roster, he is a real defensive player, so no, not everything is "good". This is a forum this is a place to disagree(or agree to disagree). FYI, I feel happy for the coach for finally winning, but I still think he needs to improve the system he is instituting for the team. @wiking, in case you havent noticed, the guys here are not all on the same side..the fact there's a huge tagline "were the haters are silenced" says it all.. and oh, im not a sore winner. I havent even watched the game yet. But i was very happy when i read the news that the azkals won and how they won the game makes it much more satisfying. As I have always been saying in this forum, there's just too much expectations being put on this team, and even philippine football as a whole. We are soooo very very very very very far from where everyone expects us to be. So maybe we could give the team some slack and let them be. if somebody comments, you say haters....what was this forum is all about it is discussion....if somebody argue does this automatically a hater???c'mon you are better than this.....not all negative or argument falls on the haters category...... atleast wiking is right.....

Unfortunately, we cannot "let them be" they have chosen to represent us, they've taken that responsibility. But if a coach is obviously lacking, the nation they represent WILL make noises. If a team member has a "prissy fit" the nation WILL make noises. Do you expect the nation to sit idly by while the team that represent them crumble into anonymity? What sport do you see where fans sit there and do not complain about a player that is not performing or a coach doing the same? This is why the rest of us are here. Because we are fans and care about the team. This is a FORUM where people do argue (hopefully in a MATURE MANNER) you should accept that or perhaps this is not a place you should be? btw, when I said we are all on the same side, I meant we root for the U23 team. Although obviously we have different levels of contentment with coach, players and tactics, BUT we are all still rooting for the team. i suggest that you don't waste your time anymore explaining things to that poster. it's obvious that he doesn't have anything to bring on to the table except that forcing people in this forum to subscribe to his idea of just contently accept losing without asking/analyzing what went wrong. he doesn't even give sensible comments about the games. instead, he would always rant about those posters with opposing views and ends up name-calling those he doesn't agree with as crabs or haters. such a waste of space, IMHO. anyways, back to the game. i'd really like to cherish that miracle comeback. it's like watching that liverpool comeback during the 2nd half of 2005 UEFA champions league finals against AC milan. yeah, yeah, i know it's too much pero pagbigyan nyo nako. hahaha! well, ayokong maging negative-sounding but we've got to admit that lots of luck really played a great part in our win against Laos. we, yet again, displayed poor defending which led as to concede 2 goals. we can't always expect muller to bail us out of scoring trouble. van bossche played consistently decent, though, not really amazing, but pretty decent for a young defender. and i think basa and angeles (not sure if it was marwin) were both ok, too. leonora was better now compared to his first 2 games. for the good part during the dying last 3 minutes of the game (end of regulation coming into injury time), we've seen how mark hartmann's good positioning and vision of the field made him deliver those wonderful passes to beloya. he showed unselfishness, too, creating a much higher chance to score that push the ball himself towards the goal. i now forgive him for being slow most of the time. if only he could push himself to be a bit faster, i know he can be a formidable midfielder creating better scoring chances for our team. sana meron tayong conditioning coach para mabuild yung resistensya ng mga players natin so they can play at their optimum level. as for beloya, he was such a revelation for me. although i've been hearing good things about him, it's just today that i got to see what he can do for us. he kept pushing forward and made himself available for those hartmann passes. that last goal? terrific display of ball control. sarap panoorin paulit-ulit. porteria and christiaens, they worked amazingly on the wings. and both ott and jdj, they played their usual excellent and passion-filled game. i just love seeing jason with that captain's armband. really deserves it. it certainly had the best effect on him (matured quite faster, temper mellowed but passion still on the high gear). and i guess, the whole team, too. and muller, what can i say? he's played superb goalkeeping, as usual. one thing that we kept doing is those long balls. we've seen that we can build plays via short passing (correct me if i'm wrong but the first 2 goals were from this strategy). it was just good recognition from hartmann sending that long ball to beloya that resulted to our 3rd and winning goal. but like most of us here already pointed out, we should try not to do this most of the time. we should play patient short passing and build our attacks from the back. that gives us more time to set our momentum and see who are placed on better offensive positions. let the wingers do their job of creating offensive threats and solidify that midfield. sorry, medyo napahaba. para kasing isang bariles na kape nainom ko. i agree with one poster here. who needs energy drink when you have this kind of booster? hehe.
