The midfield seemed porous. I do not understand why they had to fall back that much. Gener commited a big mistake...lost the ball and even failed to stop that goal along with 4 or 5 other Azkals. Kudos to Carli for the good save off a free kick. It all comes down to POISE...and I think it comes from playing more international football fixtures.
Well guys, its really heartbreaking...at least I get to shave my moustache which I've silently been growing in support of the team. Although sooner than I wanted to. I'm gonna maul my puncing bag now...

I KNEW WE WERE TOO COMPLACENT! goodness! 1-1 We were not complacent, we were too nervous to hold on to that lead. In the first half we played to win but in the second half we played not to lose. There is a big difference between the two. I am not pinpointing on Gener as the culprit but the few games of the Azkals before this AFC, Gener seemed to be so poor at the back. I could not understand why he need to play the ball close to the Turks' goal when he had control, instead of clearing it out he played the ball a bit making the Turk stole it from him that gave the Turks the 2-1 lead. The first goal was a little mistake but the second was a big boo boo from Gener. Honestly, I was okay when I heard James and Angel would not play, but when I heard that Sabio is included in the sidelines I felt worried straight away. Gier and Sabio were our composed defenders at central back. Anyway guys, no one expected the Azkals to go this far, not even to led 1-0 over the Turks in this semi-final game. Missing James, Sabio, Angel against the Turks and a few of our key Euro players in the entire Cup are respectable excuses, therefore making it in the semis that almost beating the Turks is a commendable performance. Do not cry guys, heartbreaks and pain are all part of a growing team destined to be respected in the world someday.

Now they won't have Neil for our third place match. Sad story.
Laban Azkals, 3rd place finish isn't that bad!

we shouldn't went on defensive mode. there are lots of chances for us to push forward and attack... really bad decision.

Even when we were playing defensive, we had our chances. I think the non call on the foul on phil was a disgrace Yup, we had chances but those chances were stressful for our players, especially for Phil because he has to run from the opposite box unlike if we play a bit more offensive were we can build up our plays better... Like I said, parking the bus for more than an hour with only a goal lead was plain stupid.. My 2 cents though.

Misagh was doing ok. Inserting moy means less creativity in offense. After the goal we played defensively. I think the boys could have gotten anothet one if we didnt remove ourr foot of the pedal. We were playing defense most of the 2nd half. Charge to experience it is.

In my opinion it's toooo early to park the bus, it is clear na kayang kaya makipagsabayan ng atin team, but heck who am i to tell. I ain't the coach. the coach is more familiar with the capability or let me say the ability of his players. overall what a tournament for the Philippines they've reach their goal to qualify to semis but of course it is much sweeter if they reach the finals. be proud for the boys and let's get them next time cheers everybody! oh btw nice kick by Etheridge.

Neil's red was pretty stupid, but then again he shouldn't have kicked out at the guy. I could understand his frustration though.
I hate to be superstitious every time I watch important games, but man, I'm freaked out. Wanna know why?
During the India game where we won 2-0, my EPL team, Manchester United came off a 2-0 win against West Brom. I had a happy football weekend. There was no ManU game before the Tajikistan match.
Now, earlier today, ManU had a game wherein they lost 2-1 to Athletic Bilbao and crashed out of the Europa cup. Fast forward a few hours later and the Philippines loses 2-1.
Also, when the Philippines took the lead just before halftime, in the back of my head I thought "it would be pretty ironic if the Philippines suddenly lost by 2 goals in the next half, like how Tajikistan did." Guess what, it happened. Freaky.
Btw I'm not sure who was in goal to replace Neil, but whoever that guy is or whoever will play the third place playoff better be good! I'll be ridiculously disappointed if we don't at least go home with the bronze medal.

Just sayin that we could have still gotten that second and it is really frustrating. Those counter attacks were really taxing our Attacking players they had to run alot of field just to get there.

THIS. Nicely sums it all up. Nawala bigla yung hunger when we scored an early goal. It's always bad for us to lead with just 1 goal.

More than my aching heart....I hurt for the boys who worked so hard to get this far and showed so much heart to this tournament. I am not upset with this loss. But what I am upset most is why there seems to be sacred cows in our national squad roster. Why can't they just give up their spots and give chances to others? Honestly this is not to disparage anyone but, Gener should just think of retiring. He had been given a lot of chances yet he has shown his age and he has shown he is not up to par compared with the much younger and talented, skillful players that are not given a chance to show their stuff on the pitch. Instead of bolstering the team's strength he was the weakest link. Le Sigh! Irregardless of this heartache, this does not take away the pride our national team and the boys has given the country. Very of proud of the boys.
