am sure there'll gonna be shortage of tickets for the wc home match, what with the thousands of swooning colegialas and ncr fans who hungers for an azkal int'l in manila....twil be another scalpers' galore. you're right cj, once the total revenues come in, the pff would have second thoughts staging the next int'l outside manila. And...equalling the panaad atmosphere would be easy...mga manilenyo pa!!!

If revenue now is all the PFF cared about, then all the international games for the next few years would be scheduled in Manila.
If, however, the PFF has the vision to grow the sport and have even more revenue in the long run, then the important games have to be scheduled outside Manila as well. It would be a travesty to the fans and short-sighted thinking if Rizal Memorial would get the next 3 or 4 games.
That's why I would gladly see Rizal get Sri Lanka, and then Panaad get the next one whether it be Kuwait in case we get past Sri Lanka, or another team if we don't. And then have Rizal get the one after that.
Rotating the venue also increases the chances of selling out and garnering more interest. You don't want the fans in one area to be spoiled.
Go Azkals!

congrats to RMC for helding the qualifying match.....
but i doubt na babalik pa yan sa panaad ang venue or even in iloilo........malamang pag indi na sikat ang football uli.......
but i rather vote to other sites like cebu, dumaguete, or other cities para sa football exposure...

Here is an interesting comment on facebook about the last Panaad game: "there won't be anymore subsidy from fifa or afc. and pff will shoulder all expenses of the sri lankans and philippine team when they are here. add the fact na ang laki daw ng amusement tax na kinaltas ng bacolod nung feb. wala talagang pera ang pff to host the event." The governor of Bacolod also decreed that the bleachers section in Panaad, would be free so the PFF had very little income to pay for the expenses and had to ask for help from the PSC and other sponsors. Compare that to this statement by the president of the PFF: "The demand for having the match at the Rizal Memorial stadium is high, and we are being swamped with inquiries even this early for tickets," Araneta said yesterday. We hope to sell VIP tickets at the main grandstand for P1,000 each, while special areas in the open bleachers could fetch P500. Altogether we are eyeing P5 to P6 million from the gate sales." -- Nonong Araneta source: PFF pushes for PH-Sri Lanka match at Rizal Stadium BY BONG PEDRALVEZ www.malaya.com.ph/apr12/sports2.htmlThe PFF needs funding for its various programs which in many cases are starting from scratch. The PSC, the government agency that disburses public funding for the PFF also has to fund other sports and not just football. So in order to move forward, it needs to create revenue from sponsorship, advertising, the rights to broadcasts of its games, merchandise sales and most importantly tickets from games. If RMSC makes the most sense financially, it would be hard to justify going elsewhere unless Bacolod changes its policies. If they can show that they can make a profit in Rizal, they might even be able to host tournaments as well as friendly games with other countries there which they couldn't do before because of the cost. Finally, if they can show to the government the need for a bigger national stadium, that can be profitable and able to maintain itself, without being a drain on public coffers, then maybe the government at some point, will be motivated to build a modern world class stadium we could all be proud of.

Here is the response from Sun Star Bacolod:
Azkals to play home match at Rizal Memorial Stadium PHILIPPINE Football Team-Azkals team coordinator Patrick Ace Bright on Thursday confirmed that the July 3 first qualifying match between the Azkals and Sri Lanka for the of the 2014 FIFA World Cup will be held at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila.
Bright, who was in Panaad Park and Stadium Thursday with Azkals stalwarts Ian Araneta, Roel Gener and reserve keeper Paolo Pascual, said that despite Panaad’s successful staging of the February 9 match against Mongolia, the people in Manila also deserve that privilege for a live viewing of the game.
The Azkals will play a home and away game where the June 29 match will be in Sri Lanka.
“This will not be the last time that the Azkals will play here in the Philippines. We still have an upcoming match against Kuwait and we look forward to bringing the game back here in Panaad,” Bright said.
He also added that having the game in Manila will also allow their team to transport its logistics easily.
Meanwhile, PFF president Mariano Araneta said in an interview that Panaad Stadium was also considered as a probable venue for the match against Sri Lanka. However, he explained that PFF also wanted to hold the match in Manila, which has not hosted an international match for quite some time.
The last significant football tournament held at Rizal Memorial Stadium was the 1991 Southeast Asian Games where the Philippine Team reached the semifinals.
On the other hand, Philippine Olympic Committee chairman and Philippine Football Federation (PFF) Advisory Council member Monico Puentevella said that, since Manila is the capital of the Philippines, "we should give Manileños the chance to see the Azkals, too."
“I hope we don’t threaten the games here with the 30 percent amusement tax the next time it will be staged here. The Azkals will surely generate millions with this game in Rizal,” he said.
To recall, shortly before the February 9 match between the Azkals and Mongolia in Bacolod City, the Bacolod City Council passed a resolution charging the organizers with a 30 percent amusement tax on the tickets sales of the match. However, upon request of the PFF, the City Council later waived the tax. (JSG)
Published in the Sun.Star Bacolod newspaper on April 15, 2011. ____________________
One thing I noticed, Puentevella noted that Bacolod better not set conditions that will make it hard for the PFF to chose Panaad again considering that the PFF will be making millions is Rizal.
I hope so as Bacolod put on a good show the last time they hosted the games and deserve to do so again in the future. ;D

If we get a fullhouse in Rizal this June, this will force Bacolod to upgrade their stadium or else there is no point of hosting the games there with half of what Rizal can accomodate.right?

The amusement tax aspect is no truth, as already corrected in the Sunstar Bacolod report. Bacolod was so gracious it decided not to push taxing PFF, as one of its countless contributions to the success of the Azkals match.
Suddenly, we see hear people putting Bacolod in a bad light just to justify the match be held in Manila. I want the Capital to look deserving as being a host for an Azkals match, but not at the expense of Bacolod's reputation as a huge supporter of the Azkals.
In the future matches of the Azkals, I hope that PFF will be smart enough to think beyond the money factor -- this is beginning to be a Pacquiao vs Mosley football version.
