from german news-page Am Mittwoch spielt er mit der Nationalmannschaft in Niederau gegen eine Auswahl kreisdürener Fußballer. Die wird von Bernd Lennartz, dem Coach des Mittelrhein-Ligisten Viktoria Arnoldsweiler betreut, der Spieler seines Vereins, aber auch des FC Düren-Niederau, der SG GFC Düren 99 und anderer Klubs berufen hat. means it was a selection of players from some teams around aachen / Düren. the most players are playing in the "Mittelrhein-Liga" (6. german league) Thank you Raul for making it clear. But i just found that FC Duren-Niederau and SG GFC Duren 99 both belong to Landesliga Mittelrhein, one step lower than Mittelrheinliga, and thus a 7th-tier league. ergebnisdienst.fussball.de/tabelle/landesliga-staffel-2/mittelrhein/landesligen/herren/spieljahr1011/mittelrhein/M23S1011W230003AtabelleSo, it looks like we faced just amateur players in the first game. And now we're facing U-19 squad of a 4th-tier league club Bonner SC ? I don't really get it. Of course we all know German standard of football is one of the best in the world, but still this schedule is way too comfortable and thus unhelpful for a senior national team. Yes "the real deal" FC Ingolstadt is coming next, but now i'm starting to doubt if we'll face the actual first team squad of em. It seems more likely that they will show up with mainly the reserve squad, FC Ingolstadt II, Manny Ott's colleagues. Well it's still way stronger team than the first two opponents though. I just hope it's not gonna be another U-19 squad. minamaliit mo ang mga teams na mga yan porke't nasa low tier ang mga yan? kahit low tier mga yan eh walang mahahanap na ganyang kalaban ang azkals dito sa pinas. those low tiers pag nilagay dito ay top tier na para sa atin. football na ang kinakain na bigas ng mga yan everyday, di tulad dito na basketball. and just look at the pic here, twitpic.com/5cw4q4under 19 nga pero tingnan mo ang size ng mga kalaban ng azkals. that's already mama^ size and DEFINITELY NOT 19 by pinoy standards. ;D

Seems like Phil and Chieffy can't stop scoring at the moment. Cheiffy also scored in their previous game against Duren and ofcourse against the UFL All Stars.

Any info on the line-up and formation? If I'm not mistaken aside from the defense, midfield was the area Coach Weiss was going to concentrate on. Be interesting to see who's lining up there. The goals being scored could be a result of the improvements being made at midfield. Schrock on the scoresheet probably means he was playing as a holding mid again.

Im loving this! Slowy getting their act together. Cant wait for the addition of Paul Mulders into the starting XI. I think he's gonna solidify our midfield even more. Now get ready for the biggest test of this Germany camp, FC Ingolstadt.

I'm not saying we should have faced Bayern Munchen or Dortmund. Palami said earlier that "We're having 4 tune up matches against STRONG opponents in Germany" then it should be some decent pro clubs in 3rd or 4th division at least. But 7th-tier league clubs ? Come on, there are 45 parallel leagues and more than 700 clubs in total at 7th-tier of German football pyramid and it must definitely be just amateur level, and "amateur" means they don't play football for living. And football is not about size. I would have not complained if we faced some U-19 squad of likes of Schalke 04, but hey, Bonner SC is just a 4th division club AND their U-19 squad ? Do you really think they could be a 'strong' opponent enough to test us ? If you do you're underestimating the Azkals too severely. Don't forget that Manny Ott or Patrick Reichelt, 2nd Bundesliga reserve players, can't even get a starting spot in the Azkals at the moment.
Well, ok let me stop whinning. I just wanted to see how the new Azkals could perform against 'strong' opponents, especially in defense, but well, we can take the first two matches as some warm up games. I just hope the next two opponents, FC Ingolstadt and SV Darmstadt 98, will show up with some solid line up, hopefully their respective first team squads.

Just wanted to mention that during preseason clubs like Bayern Munich play lower division clubs first including amateur clubs to warm up and regain their fitness and sharpness before taking on stronger clubs. The resulls are not as important as the coordination and familiarity the players are gaining with each game they play.
Besides most of the professional teams are on vacation right now. So getting competitive teams to play us at this time probably wasn't easy.

<sarcasm> How about the Azkals just play The Netherlands, then Spain, in preparation for Sri Lanka? </sarcasm>
Reklamo. Reklamo. LOL! The guys need to learn to walk (together) before they can run. ;D

Bundesliga season just ended last month, if I'm not mistaken. They're even lucky to have found Bundesliga 2 teams that will still play. And in "Philippine terms", U19 teams of German clubs are strong. But come to think of it, they would be no match to the Fil-European Azkals like Guirado, or the Younghusbands.
Ultimately, what's important in tune-up matches is that the players learn to play together.

Looking at pic of the pitch where they played... The pitch is artificial, right? It's too evenly green, and in the twitpic usbdata posted above the pitch looks carpet-like. lol
From older pics, akala ko natural turf na super well-maintained.

The guys need to learn to walk (together) before they can run. ;D No, we don't have to play those teams. But we could play some better sides than FC PLUMBERS & TAXI DRIVERS or 18 YEAR OLD BOY UNITED under a semipro club, if we call the azkals in germany now the national "dream" team. And no, it's not about Sri Lanka. We're obviously targeting at Kuwait, and we have almost no experience of playing such high level opponent. Especially our center backs. If we get past Sri Lanka, we're gonna have only 2 more matches before facing Kuwait, reportedly both 2 games against Bahrain's U-22 team. Though Bahrain national team's recent form is great, i doubt their U-22 squad is gonna be strong enough too to be a simulated enemy of Kuwait. So i thought we needed some more fierce experience in Germany where strong football teams are everywhere. That's all. OK Sir, forget about my complaints. I just hope the next two clubs, especially Ingolstadt, will bring their best possible squad on the pitch and play enthusiastically to give the Azkals much trouble.

From the starting lineup pics I have seen, here is the lineup: Gener, Del Rosario, Postchke, Jonsson, J Younghusband, Schrock, Ott, Caligdong, Guirado, P Younghusband
Chieffy is the Captain
Aly Borromeo was complaining of some stomach problems earlier which is the probable reason he did not start.
